Humm mayby I should try making tacos with ground turkey0

I love them when they are just ground turkey with no added stuff (as in the manufacturer adding "natural flavorings"). Some have a much higher fat content than others. The lower the fat, the dryer they are and you will need something for moisture on top. They do not taste like beef, but if you pair it with the onion, tomatoes, ketchup or mayo, whatever you like, it can be good.
It is different and I like to cook it with more spice than I would for beef. Try some worcestershire (sp?) sauce on it while cooking maybe.0 -
OK thanks I've seen them cook em on the biggest loser show0
-
They're pretty good .0

Me. I love Turkey Burgers but not from restaurant. I find them pathetically dry.
I make them @ home. A good Lean Turkey Meat gets dry. My little trick for a moist burger add one egg and/or slight butter.
I make a batch and for variety cut them into small pieces for my lunch salad.0 -

^^^ this! and turkey bacon is NOT bacon!!

I prefer ground beef. Also note that if the fat quantity is the same, there's really no difference. I find it hilarious that people think ground turkey and what not is so much healthier than ground beef...93% lean is 93% lean...it doesn't matter...but it is hilarious...and a little sad that so many people are afraid of a tasty burger.
I love turkey, but turkey burger...no way...ditto for bacon, that's not bacon.0 -
Well true0

I've had good ones and not so good ones. I make chili ones with onions, cilantro, chili powder, cumin, and diced chili peppers and it's really and moist even using the leanest of ground turkey/chicken. That being said, they don't taste like beef burgers at all.0

I love them. I use ground turkey any time I need ground meat for a recipe - chilli, meatballs, mini meatloaves, and burgers too. You can mix any ingredients you want to make it taste even better - chopped vegetables, spice, etc.0

My friend adds teriyaki sauce. But just one tablespoon while cooking. It gives it a better flavor.0
-
yum, turkey bacon on a Turkey burger!0

When I want a burger, I want the taste of the burger ... turkey just doesn't cut it for me. The macros and other nutrients aren't that much better, IMO, so I just eat the beef burger and enjoy.
I do love turkey, i.e. roast turkey or sandwich meat, but not as a substitute for ground beef.0 -
fak-con
fake+bacon
that's turkey bacon.
My BF had some at a staff meeting once- because it was super thick cut- so he thought he'd try it- and he was CONVINCED it was good.
So he brought a pack to my house one weekend when he went shopping.... turns out. I'm single now.
just kidding.
But I did threaten him and ask where my actual BF was and why the Aliens took him from me.
And then I buried it in the freezer- I should just throw it away- but I hate to waste food.0 -
I don't like them, but I also don't like lean burgers so there is that.0

I buy only fresh (never frozen) ground turkey. I have not even purchased any ground beef in 3 years. A little trick I learned, sauté 1/2 of yellow onion in 1TBSP of EVOO, let it cool and mix with the ground turkey. Season as you prefer and grill. With condiments of your choice very little difference, less calories and better for you. I use ground turkey for everything I used to use ground beef. Turkey burgers prepared this way are way better than the frozen turkey burgers, and you control what goes into the patties.
The only beef I buy now is steak.0 -
They are almost universally awful compared to their beef, pork or lamb cousins0
-
It all depends, but you need to add something for moisture or they are too dry...I generally do a mix of greek yogurt, country dijon and mango chutney to the meat along with some chili powder and garlic. Matter of fine tuning, but it allows them to stay moist.0

I love turkey burgers. I mean, I like beef burgers and lamb burgers... I guess you can say we love burgers. We make turkey burgers often because around here we can get lean group turkey cheaper than lean group beef. Beef around here is a redic price sometimes.0

To me they are delicious. I buy the ground turkey and add some salt, pepper, and tarragon, and also add one egg to one pound of turkey meat (helps it not fall apart during cooking) and I mix it very well and form patties which I cook in a large skillet. Then I put some lite mayo combined with mustard on the bread, and some crisp lettuce, tomatoes and onion too if I have them, and put together the sandwich that way. Never had issues with dryness doing this.0

I love Turkey burgers myself, I rarely eat beef anymore.0

I tried the turkey "bacon" and hated it. It was like fried cardboard to me. My husband likes it though. It is fully cooked already in the package, people just cook it further to crisp it... or try to... and he makes sandwiches with it with no further cooking as though it were lunch meat. Blergh, to me that's horrible! But he's the one eating it so whatever lol. He makes some really weirdo food combinations and he keeps saying "oh try this" and I'm like NO thank you, honey. Not any more. I am not tasting that... I can already tell it isn't for me! All for you!0

For juicier burger-like stuff I usually use some fresh bread crumbs soaked in a bit of full fat milk mixed into the meat, and when I grind my meat I grind it with raw onions. If I don't have breadcrumbs I just add a bit of heavy cream. Not sure if these tricks would work with turkey, but they're worth a try.0

I use ground turkey and make my own, I prefer the taste doing it this way. I also swap out beef with turkey in all other meals (chili, meatloaf, etc...).0

I love turkey burgers!0

Depends on how you make them. If you are expecting them to taste like beef, then you will be disappointed. I make Mexican Turkey Burgers and they are awesome. Try the recipe.
Mexican Turkey Burgers
½ cup salsa
¼ cup reduced fat cheese, shredded
3 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried cumin
¾ tsp sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp dried thyme
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 lb extra lean ground turkey
In large bowl, combine salsa, cheese, chili powder, oregano, cumin, sugar, garlic power, thyme, salt and cayenne. Stir to combine. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into burger patties
Grill until juices run clear
Serve on whole wheat buns with LF or FF cheese. Can top with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and tomato if you desire.

The price is why I opt for ground turkey most of the time too. Turkey is anywhere from 2.50 to 4$ a pound, where even the fattiest ground beef is 6 or 7$ a pound.

I can't stand the texture!0
