fifty shades of grey

Ok, so I like a good read and this was not something I would normally pick up but I went with it and sort of found the lame writing style mildly irritating but the underlying story kept me a little immersed while tanning my English lily white body in Spain!
Film was true to story but not th sex...if you want sex why would you go to watch 50 shades? Its an 18 at the cinema not a porno...it will never give you full on shots so skip it... Based more round the story of the lovers... Wasnt disappointed myself but my expectations were low...0 -

The existence of this book and movie has sure brought out the way people stereotype middle aged women, married women, women that have children.

How do people think we got pregnant in the first place?

You can't make babies if it's kinky!

Grammar, characterization, plot development, it's flipping terrible. I mean, it originated as a Twilight fanfiction, there's no way the writing could be good. I don't even understand how it got published.
I don't know. Maybe just because of a large fandom of Twilight fans that liked the fanfic erotica. Next up for Daddy porn is going to be 50 Shades of Pinkie Pie and the Brony.

How many people who read the book do you actually think practice bdsm?
I made a lil joke but I think your reaction is pretty immature.
I have lived in the bdsm world for a long time so don't assume to judge my values about women of any age.0 -

Why not? So many people here like to judge books they never read....0 -

I have read the books. Never said I hadn't. I just happened to think they were badly written and a misrepresentation of the BDSM world.0 -

I didn't mean you personally. It's just a trend of comments I have noticed from a lot of people. I was commenting on the trend.
I wasn't actually talking about women that have read the book (which, it is just a book and I don't think it means that much, but I didn't read it). I was talking about the assumptions that middle aged women and mothers are just boring, sexually inexperienced, not having real sex, do zumba, read these books, and the terms like "mommy porn". I'm not upset.
My comments were light hearted, playful, joking around. And I am not singling you out. Just the trend that I have seen. It's odd to me.
I actually do know very few people that read it. Mostly early on people that didn't know much about it. The main person that I know that read it is not a mother, in her 20's, definitely into all kinds of sexual adventure, and is a gorgeous pole dancer. I'm not going to talk about the sex lives of my friends.

See. Now I know another person that is into bdsm and isn't a middle aged mom that read the books.

Well, considering it started as Twilight fanfiction, was never interested in it. And according to some friends who have read at least part of it, it's a HORRIBLE example of a BDSM relationship. What's portrayed in the books is abuse, not an actual relationship. So I have no desire to read or watch it. If I want to watch something that turns me on, I'll delve into my husbands porn collection. He has surprisingly good taste.0

I couldn't even get through the first book... I've heard the acting in the movie was absolutely terrible!0

This review of the first book made me laugh heartily:

I must admit I haven't read them, but Prince's face and David Bowie's facepalm sums it up pretty well.
She's done the others too

It normalizes abusive relationships. This is more of a horror story than a romance fantasy.0

I liked the books and I am planning to watch the movie this week0
