Thanks everyone for keeping this thread going! I just got back from a trip of a lifetime down the Colorado River in Grand Canyon. Ten days of rafting and hiking. I'll preface by apologizing for putting in so many pictures, but consider I took over 850...well...I tried to pick the VERY best for the theme of this thread!
Thunder River, where water comes spewing out of the middle of a rock; quite the hike up Tapeats Creek and up Thunder; much elevation gain, and I was thrilled to see how my weight training has benefitted my physical abilities!
Coming back along Deer Creek:
Finishing the hike by heading down to the boat--this part of the descent was about 1/3 of the total descent (and equally 1/3 of the total ASCENT that had to happen beforehand; had about 3 sets of 800+ foot climbs); have to say the ascending was much easier than the descending:
