Consuming too few calories and gaining weight, what now?

God if i was so overweight i would not be comfortable, I would straight on a VLCD and not leave the house until it was shifted! not hanging around 'in moderation' giving half arsed excuses about eating moderate amounts of disgusting foods which are not moderate in my eyes but there we go hey ho

And just after I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt and figured we were all on the same page (roughly), just with the kind of miscommunication that tends to happen when you only have text to go off. We're not saying to 'eat 5 pizzas'. Not everybody vouching for moderation is overweight, and even if they were that doesn't discount it. You talk about how it's important to have 'nutritional food' but say you'd go on a VLCD - even if that wouldn't be a stupidly unhealthy way to lose weight over a long period you'd have no chance of hitting everything you need on that, you'd be decidedly unhealthy. You not liking the food has nothing to do with how healthy it is, I find avocados disgusting but I wouldn't call people stupid for liking them. Different foods have different nutritional values and there isn't a single item of food that couldn't theoretically fit into a healthy, balanced, micronutrient hitting day. I'm honestly starting to believe this is a fake account.

I absolutely love pizza and have made many of my own. You showing this inspires me to make one for my treat day on march 4th... I will be dreaming all night... smiles Oh and my hubby will love it to. I have not made him one of my pizza's yet. But, now it will be controlling how many slices i'll have ....

Which isn't a bad thing. I used to eat 4-5 slices, now I normally eat 2. But I enjoy the portions Just make it a super cheeesy one!0 -

People who eat bad food, whether they are fat or thin are putting their bodies at risk. You need vitamins to absorb essentials like calcium.
The numbers of osteoporosis at such young ages is going through the roof from the new age junk food lifestyle.
As a british nutrition nurse you deal with people who cant eat and may need to tube feed. I've never heard of these only SALT, do you work along side them?
Also how does someone who is only 20 become a specialised nurse? Not having a go just interested as that is my aim.

it wouldn't be a successful treat day if it's not supper cheesy. I'll even attempt to log what I consume for that day... oh I plan on a few vodka tonics too.. still going to try not to go so over the deep end, but I won't fret over a 2000 or a bit more 4 that day:)

I'm going to chime in here and echo other peoples comments on this situation cause I feel like the point needs to be driven home enough.
"Starvation mode" as you describe is a myth . The starvation mode theory came from an experiment in Minnesota in the 40s where 36 men were placed on a very low calorie diet and also walked 3+ miles every day. The interesting thing is that they actually continued to lose weight until they were down to about 5% body fat. That is incredibly lean! Like skeletal lean! And OP it is highly unlikely you are at this stage. If you still have fat stores on your body I can guarantee if you truly eat at a deficit you will still burn fat.
Some things to note:
- if you are starting out, you may experience rapid weight loss (this is attributed to loss of retained water).. so your 'weight loss' does slow after an initial period
- weight loss is not linear, sometimes you will lose and sometimes you will gain, just keep your eye on the overall trend
- when you lose weight, your metabolism (BMR) does lower a little as there's less of you.. this is unavoidable and MFP will let you know after a period of time that it's dropping your goal down
Soooo with the above in mind, if you are wondering why you haven't lost weight in a week then you need to stop worrying and be patient!
However, if the stall is over a period of several weeks to months the first thing to look at is the accuracy of your logging. Most people overestimate calories burned and underestimate calories consumed... If you're truly committed to keep losing you need to be as accurate as possible. Be careful with exercise calories since many machines and MFP do overestimate burns.

Fluctuations of 2lbs could also be due to recently eating food high in sodium (such as KFC or McDonalds). Try to focus on the overall trend.0
