Also did the Bluegrass Half today- the rolling hills got a little old round about mile 7.

BUT, I can't complain too much because I PRed! I was a heck of a lot faster than I expected. Plus, yes, the medal is very cool.

Oh man, no, I sure didn't. Not sure what I'd do with it anyway, but it would have been cool.

    18.86 miles past goal

Beautiful day outside once it stopped snowing and the sun came out. Planning on taking pics of the natural spring I run along but the phone died before I got there. Shame really because it's stunning. Had my best mile, my best 1k, and my best 5k according to Nike. Averaged a 10ish min mile when I usually average a 12 min mile. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy.

Instead of going out for a 3 mile solo run this morning, I went for a 3.5 mile run/walk with my 6 year old. I am not going to count it with my goal because there was a lot of walking but we had fun and I love that he wants to go with me. :)

Out of curiosity, how many miles does one put on their shoes before giving them a proper burial (with eulogy and 21 gun salute of course)?
I actually haven't buried any shoes yet, they just get retired (one pair is now residing at my parents place so I don't have to take shoes with me when I visit them for a weekend, one pair has been declared general exercise shoes, another pair will soon move into the trunk of my car for "you never know when you need some running shoes", ...). Unfortunatly, I didn't really track the mileage for those shoes - I just decided they were old when they started feeling run down, or one pair when they developed odd cracks in the midsole.
Somewhere, I read that shoes last longer if you switch beween pairs, so that the damping has time to recover. Not sure if there is any validity to that claim, though. And I guess it also depends on where you run (concrete is probably tougher on the shoes than a nice forest path).

@SonicDeathMonkey80 and @SBRRepeat : 13.1 mi of rolling hills sound tough. Congratulation on your great races and the cool medal :-)

@TwelveSticks: I hope your calf will be healed soon!

@fabnine: welcome back to the joy of running. Your streak was absolutely awesome.

Congrats to everyone who already made their goal. I still have a way to go...

Just realised I didn't post my last few runs. Probably because I was so annoyed with myself after the run on Tuesday. It was both the slowest and the shortest run in a while for me, thanks to my own stupidity:
Came home late from work and was in a hurry to go running, so I changed really fast and headed out. And felt really, really uncomfortable... First I was wondering if maybe I had washed my sports bra too hot and ruined its support effect, then I realised I had been scatterbrained enough to only change pants and shoes, and otherwise was still wearing my work clothes. I tried to run as "un-bouncy" as possible, but still had to admit defeat after less than a mile. Previously, I had been wondering if I really needed a sports bra, but that run definitely answered that question for me...
Before the other runs this week, I always made sure I changed into running clothes all the way before heading out of the door ;)
