Why do people lock their diaries?

I never opened mine. Not like it would be useful for 99% of the people on here, most entries being German specific stuff and all.0

Mine is private because in the past I've gotten caught up in the "Clean eating" trend, to the point where I was obsessed about how "clean" my food was. I would be super hard on myself if I had anything that wasn't organic/clean/whatever the flavor of the month was. Now I'm trying to be much more moderate, but I still feel guilty eating chocolate, or ice cream, or cheese. If my diary is open (and it has been before) I won't log certain things, which means this tool has done me no good. So for my progress, I log my food privately.0

When people post on here I will sometimes look at their profile to figure out where they are at in this journey. Weight, age, sex, height, can all be pertinent information to understanding the person's post.
That's funny because when I tried to access your profile this is what I saw:
Kind of funny.
I don't know why you got that my profile and diary are open to MFP members.
Because you stated "there is no need for privacy in your profile" and I thought it was funny because you seemed to say your profile and diary was not private in 2 comments.0 -
Yeppers- I'm embarrassed about my personal grazing habits.
but also thisHers and beermerphile's diaries aren't but appear so on the mobile app. On the computer that are open.0 -
Another reason I decided to turn off my notification besides my boring diary, but on days where I didn't eat enough, because I was busy or sick or whatever, I would have people give me "Likes" or "WTG" or "Great Day" and I'm thinking did you actually look at my diary or do you think its good that I only ate 1,000 calories?
Note to @tretoptreece: OMG, I loooove that face!!!!!0 -

He meant "I don't know why you got that comma my profile and diary are open to MFP members."
His profile is open, at least on desktop. I'm not MFP friends with him either.0 -
I had mine open to friends for a long time, but then I made the mistake of adding people just to get more friends and support without really knowing who I was adding. I set it to private after being told that I was eating dog food (I had canned chicken in my diary). I found myself not being so honest with myself by not logging everything. Even though I have unfriended those who come across as the food police it stays private for now. I go back and forth with wanting to open it again but I always decide to keep it private just in case I didn't unfriend all of the jerks.0

Grandma is nutrient dense but doesn't fit my caloric goals, so I'll pass.0 -
Cool! Thanks for the input guys, I don't know anyone else personally who uses this so I was just curious what the other perspectives out there were.0

I didn't realize it wasn't public! Oops, I never set it to private so I assumed it was open. Haha thanks for pointing that out0
