Would you live off sweets alone?

If you could, would you live on sweets alone?
And if you did, do you think you'd be healthy too?
Funny questions I know. I love sweets and I eat a lot of them, so when my dentist told me I had beautiful teeth, I joked and told her that they were made of steel because of all the sweets I eat. (And I have only now went to a dentist the first time in 12 years.)
While she was fixing my tooth, she said she knows a woman who lives on sweets and eats no normal food at all and her teeth aren't too bad either. So that's kind of what sparked the questions for me.

1) No...I'm not really a sweets guy
2) No, you wouldn't be healthy...being healthy requires getting your vitamins and minerals...you obviously wouldn't be getting those if you ate nothing but cookies everyday.0 -

Certainly would be getting a lot of fat and carbs. Which is funny, since those are the two I always have too little of haha. But protein takes priority over them.0 -
Definitely. I could live off of donuts alone. Of course it wouldn't be healthy. Donuts have little nutritional value. Having healthy teeth and having a healthy body are two very separate things.0

Yeah, I'm not a sweets kinda girl. I enjoy them, but if you want to break me, give me chips and salsa.
Eating only sweets would make staying healthy pretty difficult.0 -
If sweets were nutritious I could live on them easily. I like stuff like Pixie Stix, cherry sours, sweet-tarts, all of the super sweet things.
Unfortunately that has caught up with my teeth and my waistline.0 -
I could live off of chocolate! It would not be healthy at all.0

Oh heck no. It makes my teeth hurt and stomach jumpy just thinking about it! This girl here needs her some protein and some veggies in her life, or she ain't happy!0

I would eat them all day if I can. I do some days. (My "cheat" days, because I eat nothing but sweets on them, they happen once a month or so.) But most of the time I like to hit my protein goal.
My calorie goal is so low already (1500), I doubt 6 protein bars will even come close to hitting my goal. Also, who would want to live off them anyhow? They taste like cardboard hahaha.0 -

^^ Pretty much this for me too0 -
No way. Ask me about salty carbs and my answer might change, though...0

No, I wouldn't want to live off sweets. I like my gelato well enough, but not enough to live off it.
There's certainly no way to get balanced nutrition off a diet full of just sweet foods. You need vitamins, minerals, protein.0 -
I dunno...living off donuts would be hard to swing, but recipe-wise, you can do a lot of things with pizza and burgers. I could probably find a way to live nutritionally off that!0 -

That's true...0 -
I used to tell my doctor: "I swear I could live off chocolate candies." He answered: "Did you try?". And then, told me to not eat anything but chocolate candies for a week.
I outgrew the concept after 3 days. I was bored as hell and my body was demanding for vegetables.

Maybe I should try that! I would probably outgrow it, but after a week or two on normal food I would probably start craving it again hahaha0 -

If I could, I would live off pizza and cheese cake.0

I love sweets, but wouldn't want to live off them alone. I tend to go hypoglycemic if I get nothing but carbs for an extended amount of time. Even if I didn't have that reaction, I still want my sandwiches, pizza, chicken, cheeseburgers, and pasta!0

No way. If I had to choose between my favorite savory foods and my favorite sweet ones, the savory ones would win. And I get tired of sweetness when I don't have enough variety. And if you did, do you think you'd be healthy too?
I'm sure there's a way to incorporate sweetness into everything you eat (meat with a sauce of dried fruit and so on), but if you mean just eating actual sweets, not really. You'd be missing out on lots of things necessary for a balanced diet, like adequate protein and veggies. Yeah, you can take a multi and make cakes with protein powder, I guess, but I think the benefits of foods go beyond the specific things we've identified.
Some people are lucky and can get away with unhealthy lifestyles, though. Like my cholesterol and fasting glucose tests were good even when I was obese and my liver seems fine although I abused it.0 -

Did you feel like it helped you with your sweet tooth in the long term? I feel like when it comes to sweets, I have such a short memory. For example, on the very rare occasions when we get this awesome chocolate cake from Costco
I can't ever eat as much as I serve myself because I feel sick. (Seriously, this cake is awesome but super rich.) I then swear that I will never eat the cake again because of how awful I feel, but later that same day I find myself cutting yet another piece that is probably more than I can comfortably eat.
I've honestly wondered if eating nothing but chocolate for a day or two would somehow make the concept stick in my mind. Probably wishful thinking.
So yes, if I could, I would live off of sweets, namely chocolate confections, cakes, and cookies. I could pass on things that are just sugary, like Smarties. I don't think I'd be particularly healthy, though, and I'd probably weigh a LOT more

^This was my thought. It would probably make me swear off sweets for a week or two, but then I'd start wanting them again.

Hell yeah I would!! And yes, cuz I could totally make all kinds of food sweet too!! :drinker:0 -
No. I like sweets, but I like regular food more.0

I've been eating lots of sweets since I was a little kid. My mom used to love it just as much when she was still alive, and she would buy a lot of it. I got it from her. It's extremely hard to break a habit that's so deeply ingrained in my life.
I think I'd probably need a few years of sweets only before I would want to give it up for good. :P0 -
I like sweets in a small amount...too much and I get a bad stomachache. I could never give up my steak!0
