Thanks all for the advice. I'm resting it and will probably see how it is on Saturday since it is a very, very mild injury (I hesitate to even call it an injury, but it is and is not something I want getting worse).

@booklover22 - Some days suck, that can be true for everyone. Heat makes running harder by raising your heart rate. So even if you are doing a slow jog, if it is hot out the overall impact at that exact same speed is higher as if you were doing something a little more strenuous. So in the heat you need to slow it down to match your desired level of effort. Your heart rate can also be high if you are not rested yet, which can also be a source of a really hard run (your body hasn't bounced back yet). Could be one, or the other, or both even! Since you're new to long runs also be sure you are running them at a proper pace. That one has stung me more recently, leaving me sapped of strength for shorter runs.

I don't have any miles to record today (or for at least the next few days either) to rest this achilles. But I did want to pop on here because @Stoshew71 asked that I let him know when the Half Fanatics snatched me away and threw me in the asylum. Patient #11765 reporting in!

Have not had a chance to catch up on everyone yet but will read on my phone in the car on the long drive to DC today (8 hours :( in the car...) Looks like everyone is doing great. I do want to check in on @LoneWolfRunner and see how the run went with the fractured big toe...

I have been trying to get some running in at the gym on the treadmill even though it is miserable - I can't wait to run outside again!

I love seeing all those trail run pictures Mr. SonicDeathMonkey and Mr. LoneWolfRunner! I'm too cautious to run on trails, let alone take a path through the creek!
Mr. CodeMonkey78- Kudos to your wife's first continuous mile. Great pace!
Miss Elise4270 -hoping the flooding has subsided. Whatever you do, don't try to run through that stream :)
Miss Kristinegift -I'm praying for your calf to heal up quickly. Be encouraged. You are young and have the rest of your life to run!
WTG everyone. You are all an inspiration to me!

Depending on where you are located, I'm certain there are some easier "rails to trails" for you to try out - won't even need magic trail shoes :D
