Mr. CodeMonkey78- Kudos to your wife's first continuous mile. Great pace!
Miss Elise4270 -hoping the flooding has subsided. Whatever you do, don't try to run through that stream
Miss Kristinegift -I'm praying for your calf to heal up quickly. Be encouraged. You are young and have the rest of your life to run!
WTG everyone. You are all an inspiration to me!
Thanks! It is feeling much better, and I'm testing out a 3 miler on it this evening. I'm feeling pretty darn optimistic about it. Hopefully I'll be back to normal mileage tomorrow0 -
I need to try to get in a run even if my rear hurts and my back is threatening to flare up. I could just turn on my garmin and drive around the park then tell everyone I ran a 3:11 marathon..crazy story

@WhatMeRunning Thanks! I picked up a heart rate monitor that helps me identify my zones and have been studying the mechanics of it recently, so your advice encourages me that I am on the right path. Today was better, but I am still trying to figure out hills.

4.5 today. My garmin says my recovery time is 59 hours. I might want to think about that...

I was a running buddy to Jasmine, who is easily the most competitive kid I know, but we just went out and had fun, even took a detour through the fountains because it was SO hot. She finished in about 38 minutes- no chip timing- and was so proud of herself. Asked me to keep coming to her school so we could run together for fun
Spent the rest of the weekend back packing in Red River Gorge. Here's the view from my hammock Sunday morning (tents are for wimps):
Home of the Rugged Red in September! You doing it?
@SonicDeathMonkey80
Oh man, it wasn't originally on my calendar, since I'll be tapering for my Half Ironman, but I think I can work out a way to fit that into my taper., because that looks so very awesome.
3 mile brick run for me today.

Back in the hot & sweaty south. Balked at running mid-day in the low 90s, but it paid off as we got some light rain around sunset which helped with the humidity & temperature, and I got a neighbor to tag along.

Interesting story. I guess I just don't understand the fun in cheating (if he did) to reach a goal. If you want to qualify for Boston work your *kitten* off like every one else who has to do it. I've been in 2 or 3 5Ks here locally the last year where a guy wore a women's chip and "she" placed. What have you accomplished getting a $3.00 medal, a coupon from the local running store and cheating a real runner out of their earned finish. It's beyond me.
@kristinegift glad the calf is feeling better!
