May 2015 Bike Bicycle Cycling Challenge

Options
Since I haven't seen a May thread, here goes:

As Per Our Fearless Leader, CricketKate:

Welcome to our May Cycling Thread. If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, We welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, We welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bike. Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin, at home or the gym? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.

I am a fairly casual person and, as such, have created a fairly casual thread. There are no rules to how or what you post. My only request is that you be kind. You may post miles, minutes, # of rides, what the scenery looks like, anything. Whatever will motivate you to get on your bike.

Please know that everyone who posts is welcome and encouraged, whether you’re riding a 100 miler on the weekend or just riding around the neighborhood.

I'll go with a goal of 500 miles for May, and at least one 50 Mile ride. If the Weather allows, I hope to actually push 600 again for the month

    Rides so far:
    May 01 - 16.0 Miles @ 15.9mph - Cloudy but nice out, a little wind.
May 02 - 33.6 Miles @ 15.8mph - Great day, was averaging above 16 until the crash, had to cut things short

    May Total 49.6 Miles
    May Goal 500.0 Miles

I didn't set a goal for last month, 500 miles seems reasonable to me.

    May 01-17.93 miles @ 15.51avg.
    May 02-19.73 miles @ 16.01avg.

    May Total 37.66 Miles

Beautiful Day/Tomorrow should be warmer, maybe 75...

Between MTB & RB I rode 420 in April so I am going for 450 this month. I'd like to break 500 soon (and before summer heatwave hits). The commutes to work are in full swing so hopefully mother nature is forgiving.

    5/02 - 18.07 @ 21.3 mph
    5/02 - 13.28 @ 16.0 mph

    MTD: 31.35
    Goal: 450

Congrats! I did my first and only earlier this year (when on vacation).

I keep making goals and not biking regularly, but it's May, so no more excuses.

Will start with a goal of 200.

Hi! No goal for me this month. Just being on the bike is good enough.

    5/1 - 0.7 miles.
    5/2 - 1.2 miles.
5/3 - 1.8 miles. Had to outrun a couple of dogs. Very hard for non-athletes to do.

    MTD = 3.7 miles.

Today I rode the 5 Borough Bike Tour in NYC. 40 miles, 32,000 people. It's not a race, but some people do look at their time. I left during the second wave, at about 8:10 and got to the finish at 12:05, but it took me less time than it looks to finish because in-between riding, there was half-hour enforced rest stop and numerous slowdowns for people crossing city streets as well as just back-ups due to the sheer numbers of people.

We ended by having to ride the Verrazano bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world with a loooong gradual hill about a mile long.

I met a woman from Canada and a guy from Australia. There was a guy on one of those bikes with a large front wheel and small back wheel and a group that had bikes that looked like elliptical machines. One team had those swimming noodles attached to their helmets and a couple of teams wore colorful tutus.
