5/1 - 1/4hr spin - 4 miles
5/2 - 100.5miles @17mph with 4,600' climbing. First century of the season!!! I rode it solo in 5hr 56min moving and 6hr 34min total time. It was my fastest century ever by more then 1mph avg ! (It helped it was also my flattest century ever).
5/3 - 1/4hr spin - 4 miles.
5/4 - 31 miles @17mph w/ 1,450' climbing
5/5 - 24.5 miles @16.1mph w/1,300' climbing
5/6 - 1/4hr spin - 4 miles
5/7 - 28miles @15.5mph with 2,200' climbing. Went looking for some hills!

5/9 - 63miles @17.4mph with 2,800' climbing. Pace ride.
5/10 - 106miles @15.4 w/6,350' climbing. 'Icecream Century' - mile 58 stopped at darry farm with yummy real homemade Icecream. Legs were tired from Saturday's ride so took it slow.
5/11 - 21miles @14.6mph w/1,000 climbing. SLOW recovery ride. It was still too hot out though. Summer has arrived in full force!
5/12 - 31miles @17.7mph w/ 1,350' climbing. Attempt at speed.

5/14 - 31 miles @15mph w/2,400' climbing. Hill repeats.
5/15 - 31.5 miles @16.6mph w/1,450' climbing.
5/16 - 62.5 miles @16.2mph w/2,800' climbing. Wore the skin off one of my sits bones... going to have to reduce mileage for a little while.
5/17 - 111 miles @15.3mph w/6,600' climbing. Nearly same route as last Sunday (including ice cream stop) but with a hill repeat in the middle. Reduced mileage starting tomorrow!
5/19 - 31 miles @16.7mph w/1,400' climbing. Started ride feeling sore and stiff - at mile 10 (and top of the main hill) my average was only 13.5mph but I got a 2nd wind and picked up the pace!
5/21 - 31 miles @17.3mph w/1,450' climbing. Somehow I managed to have a headwind the entire loop.
5/22 - 31 miles @16.2mph w 1,400'climibing. Again a stiff headwind the entire loop.
5/23 - 126 miles @14.6mph w/7,600' climbing. Legs were tired in morning before I even started the ride so slow pace. Taking next 2 days off for much needed break.
5/26 - 31 miles @17.1mph w/1,400' climbing. Two day break was great! legs were almost back to normal and it did not immediately hurt to sit on my bike seat.
5/30 - 126 miles @15.5mph w/6,900' climbing. Solo double metric century with homemade ice cream #2. Today's flavors were 'Cowtracks' (vanilla with caramel, peanut butter and chocolate chips) and orange pineapple.

Went for a RELAXING neighborhood ride before dusk. Fun times. lol

Did a relaxing 28 miler today with the neighbor to hit the monthly mileage goal with stops for lunch & more dunkin donuts iced coffee. I made the mistake of letting him ride my road bike (vs. his upright townie) for 7 of the miles, and now he's going through some bike envy. On the plus side, with a road bike, we'd be able to go a bit faster. I'm sure he'll figure something out.
Huge congratulations to everyone who hit their monthly mileage goals ( @steffenson @bigd66218 @LisaTcan @virkati @DevilsFan1 ), including some very impressive numbers! Now off to run 7 more miles to hit my running challenge 150 mile target!

Darkness is falling by about 5:30 pm now and the days are becoming chilly. Yep ... winter is setting in.
Nevertheless, I have already blown past my km total for May last year! So here's hoping for decent weekends this month so that I can keep it up.
My goal this month isn't distance ... although that's always part of it ... instead my goal is to get out there at least once each weekend (except the last weekend of May) and do a climbing ride. I live in a very hilly area right now which presents me with a huge challenge because I am a flatlander. I'm not a mountain goat like the rest of the people around here. So now that I'm getting lighter, this month, my plan is to work on climbing.
