Has anyone had success with a ketogenic diet? I'm new to this. Once I hit 30 my metabolism tanked, then add a pregnancy and here I am 50-60 pound over weight. H e l p!!

Everything Shell1005 said. Unless you have some kind of epilepsy that responds to a ketogenic diet, there's no reason to worry about being strictly ketogenic; it is just one way to work towards a calorie deficit.

There's a keto group on MFP... you'll find lots of advice there.

    Nice supportive people there.

I sometimes think men and younger people don't get it (sorry) because they aren't exposed to the severe hormonal changes women suffer, from pregnancy to menopause, that make our metabolism "tank" or makes some people insulin sensitive.

Besides, everyone thrives in different environments. That said, try one of the keto or low carb groups and ask questions there. Then determine what is right for you. Personally, I do low carb (not necessarily keto) AND count calories, because neither alone has worked for me, but the combo works well.

I am insulin sensitive and have a family history of diabetes
