Because it's an MLM Pyramid Scheme.0
-
It's an MLM scheme and not necessary for success0
-
-
Because it can be, and people will still pay for it.0

My friend sells it. It's crazy the money she and her husband make. They are top sellers; good for them, but have you seen the ingredient label? I would never, ever put that junk in my body. Personally, I could never sell it. She was pretty honest with me about how the whole program works. I am not interested in profiting off of another human's pain.0

Brand recognition. People equate Shakeology with being "better" then others because of how it is marketed. Just like many other brands such as Apple, Polo, and the like. You pay more because of the name more then anything else.0
-
Because scams are always aimed at parting you with as much money as possible?0
-
Because people will readily believe just about anything and are willing to pay for it.0

Because nobody wants to believe they can lose weight for free. Because shakeology is considered a miracle weight-loss tool for a high price. Because people would rather pay high prices for an easy way to lose weight than to stay on the steady and certain path. Because even though it doesn't work, and causes problems, they don't really want to work to lose weight. Much easier to pay money. That works with housekeeping or gardening or home repair, but somehow doesn't work with weight loss. People don't get that.0

I've had "coaches" try to justify the price by comparing it to going to Starbucks for coffee everyday. Their mantra is to say whatever it takes to sell a bag of overpriced powder.0
-
Bc people who sell them want to get rich. Lol0
-
That's crazy! I tried a sample a couple months ago and it tasted horrible! The coach told me I had to find other stuff to mix with it to make it taste better... Idk but the vanilla was seriously gross0

its so expensive because you have to spend so much money on them that you cant buy/afford any other food anymore....you will lose weight this way.0

Because you're not just paying for the seller of the product, but multiple "upstream" people they are under who had absolutely nothing to do with the sale.

Because you pay for the scammers marketing costs. Run away from this junk.0
-
Because they want money and someone is willing to pay that much.0

There's nothing wrong with using protein powders etc if they help you hit your macro and micro nutrient goals. It's just that Shakeology specifically is a multi-level-marketing thing, which a lot of people (myself included) find unpalatable at best and unethical-to-downright-evil at worst.

For $4 I'd rather eat real food Today I had wild caught salmon, a bunch of veggies, a serving of cottage cheese and cherries, and all of that cost around $4. I guarantee you it tasted better, had more staying power and had a better nutrient punch than a shakeology 'meal replacement' shake.
Also most people are adding stuff to the shakes, like fruit, which is an added cost.0 -

Yeah for $3.40 I had egg, cheddar cheese on a croissant and I can probably bet that it tasted a lot better then those shakes.

I can't get what I need from a shake at all. I wish I could but I need to chew my food. Sure it might fill me up for a bit, but certainly will not satisfy me.0 -

I could have a pound of chicken breasts and a 16-oz bag of frozen vegetables (shopping sales, of course) for that. Breakfast this morning came to about $1.25 for a scoop of protein powder, a cup of milk, and two tablespoons of coffee. If you like Shakeology/meal replacements in general don't let me knock it, but you can't say it's a bargain unless the alternative is eating out.0 -

The problem is Shakeology is overpriced for a protein/vitamin supplement, and the real business is the MLM, not the shakes. The association with Beachbody is worse because they push it hard with their exercise programs with the implication that the exercise won't work as well without the shakes. It's crap like this that gives the fitness industry a reputation for ripping off people.0 -
Because suckers will pay for a scam when it's presented well.0
