In need of prayers and positive thoughts today at 12 Central standard time the appraisal is going to take place! This is the last step to us for sure selling our house so hoping all goes well and the appraisal will be positive! Thank you for all of your support! This is been a very rough and rocky road..

Since some of us are posting a few jokes ... here is mine for the day:
Subject: Senior dress code
Many of us over 50 . . . some of us WAY over 50 . . . are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not
we are correct as we try to conform to current fashions. And for those of you receiving this who are nowhere near 50 yet, keep reading anyway . . . you'll be there.
Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided:
1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedos and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Pierced nipples that hang below the waist
11. Bikinis and liver spots
12. Short shorts and varicose veins
13. In-line skates and a walker
And the ultimate 'Bad Taste' in fashion:
14. A thong and Depends

Good afternoon! I'll take a minute between work tasks to check in.
I'm so glad the surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I did not realize the relief I was getting from my nightly does of Aleve until I couldn't take it any more. I think everything is in order (as it is going to get) for the next week or so. I had a member of one of my work churches bring the recliner to my house, so that is all ready.
Thanks to those of you who responded to our unfriendly visitor. Her post was the first time I have ever felt uncomfortable in this thread. I don't get people who feel like they have to spew negativity. If it's not your cup of tea, we're certainly not forcing you to be here. I happen to like my friends here and enjoy knowing what is going on in their lives. As most of you know, we all learn from each other's successes and mistakes. I'm very grateful for all of you!
I plan keep up with the reading here, but doubt if I'll really post much since I will be one-handed for a while. Be sure to tell lots of funny stories and share all of the dirty little secrets of your lives to keep me entertained! You'll be in my thoughts...

Took the Pom to the allergy vet today. I have spent around $900 this month on that dog. More meds, shampoos, allergy pills, etc. He is looking better and I hope in the long run this pays off and he will have healthy skin and ears again. Growing up in the country like I did, we would never have spent this kind of money on a pet. But, he is a part of our family and we can't let him suffer.
Love all the pictures y'all are posting. It is wonderful to read about your lives and know that we are all supportive of each other.
Lisa, I got your book and have started reading it. I am very slow about finishing a book now even though I used to read profusely. Hope to get Heather's after this.
Joyce, DH and I did the same thing at a restaurant last weekend. The server brought us our menu and took our order for coffee and that was the last we saw of him even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We got up and left and went to the horrible Taco Bell for their horrible breakfast sandwich which I greatly regretted. Eating out while trying to watch calories is so difficult.

Nancy, the first question is, “do you want to lose some weight?” Second, what is your daily calorie goal? Eating 800 calories a day is not a way to lose weight. I call your indulging in a high fat, high calorie meal, binging. You need to plan your meals and stick to as close to 1200 calories a day as possible. It’s one thing to be over or under once in a while but 1700 calories is a bit much. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I assume you are here because you want support in this journey. My support is to say, get real! Do you want to work hard to get what you want or do you want to eat what you want when you want? You have to choose.
Uh, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "what the ****?"
Edit: I find this quite harsh. Maybe it's a one-off. Nancy, good luck to you.
Time to make dinner. The "appetizer" (fresh vegetable juice) was delicious.

morning peep-c's
my nails are acrylic overlay but they are my nails. I don't get them done the recommended every 2 weeks. I do more like once a month. back in the day, I did do them every 2 wks, ALWAYS had to have some kind of design on them, then I started doing my own and repairing my own nails, did my own French manicure. this design is something I RARELY do now, only cuz i'm going to vegas but usually its a very neutral shade and they are kept shorter..
will b back - work is calling me0 -
Mary from Minn and Carol in NC, thinking of you both...Carol/Peach, thanks for buying the book, as well as everyone else who has, and those who've written reviews, I'm very grateful.... it's been quite a spring and summer.0

DJ Myrtle Beach, SC – Last year I started with a new doctor who decided to measure me instead of taking my word for how tall I am. I was really disconcerted to learn that I am 2 inches shorter than I thought I was. Then the nurse tried to reassure me that it is normal to shrink as you get older. While I certainly enjoy and prefer getting older over the alternative, I am not pleased about the “normal” changes that occur with age and gravity. I used to joke that I was not overweight, I was undertall. Nowadays that has a small grain (2 inches worth) of truth in it!
Your musings on wondering how many people that behave poorly due to underlying conditions we (or even they) are not aware of made me think of several instances of this very thing. I remember when Dad was supposed to help Mom move some boxes and he sat down and told her he couldn’t do it. Those boxes had to be moved right then and Mom was pretty angry about having to do it alone. She yelled at Dad “If you don’t feel you can help maybe you should go see your doctor.” Instead of yelling back (which in retrospect Mom realized was a sign something was really wrong) Dad quietly said ”I think I’ll do that.” Three days later he had double bypass surgery for his heart arteries. Mom felt horrible for yelling at him when he was really sick. I told her it was a good thing because he might have put off the doctor’s visit until it was too late.
This was in the days when bypass surgery was still fairly new. Dad was told that without surgery he had 6 months to live. With surgery he might have 1-3 years. 17 years later we lost him. I still felt it was too soon, but it was a heck of a lot better than if we had lost him 17 years earlier.
suerontur3 – If you are here still reading, you stated how you feel. I was not offended, but I do admit to being puzzled as to why you felt you needed to say it. I’m sure this level of chattiness is not to everyone’s liking. However, I find it gives me what I need and so I stay. If you don’t find the type of support you need here why not start your own thread inviting like-minded people to join you?
CrazybeeRX – Yes, logging what you eat every day can be a royal pain. I know that for me it is crucial to my success. Thus, my stated goal to log every day for a month because I was very sporadic about logging. Good for you to recognize that your life is currently too full and that logging food would add to your stress. Hooray that you have a plan to track your exercise because that is a higher priority right now. Start where you can and add to it slowly. You can do this!!!
I'm off to a massge appointment. Here at work! Some of the perks for working here amaze me. Anyway, sending this out now and I will continue to read and catch up as the day progresses.

Hi, only up to page 74 and I'll catch up later.
Just wanted to check in.
On Monday I went for my semi-annual trip to the doctor to monitor my blood pressure. My blood pressure is really good so we are cutting my meds in 1/2. Unfortunately the pill cutter turns most of the pill to dust, and I'm trying to figure out what to do. She did mention that I lost 9 lbs. since I was there in April, I didn't realize it was that much. She is really pleased and so am I.
It's been almost a week since I began getting up 5 minutes earlier everyday to exercise. I'm surprised at how well it's going and glad to have the elliptical over with so early in the day. Tomorrow's alarm will be set for 5:55 am, thankfully it's light out.
One of my closest friends told me the other day that she is applying for a work assignment in Colorado. This broke my heart. I hate the thought of losing her. I sincerely hope she changes her mind. She has been a role model and one of my biggest cheerleaders on this new healthy lifestyle for me.
Went bathing suit shopping again the other day. Some of these suits have so much lycra I couldn't get them on. One of them had me contorted so much I had to laugh at myself. Couldn't wait to get it off. I just may stay with my oversized comfortable suits.
I'm very pleased with my weight loss so far this month, 4.4 lbs. That puts me within 7 lbs. of my first big goal and 11 lbs. from the really big goal of a healthy BMI. I have been good about staying within 1200-1300 calories/day and have increased my exercise which is elliptical and walking. Also drinking alot more water.
With all my food planning I was pretty surprised when I got to work this morning and realized I had not bought anything for lunch. I really didn't want to go out for something, too costly calorie and money wise, so I decided to have my snacks for lunch...bing cherries and almonds, yummy.
Getting ready for my monthly trip to see my mother this weekend. I hope she is in a better mood, it makes it so difficult when she is nasty. Dementia is a dreadful disease.
We have been so fortunate here in MA weatherwise. It's almost July and I haven't put the air conditioner in my bedroom window yet. A fan in the window has been sufficient. Walking outside has been pure pleasure. I know this won't last long but I am really enjoying it.
Love to all
Chris in MA

You will be in ours as well. Pray that the surgery goes smoothly and recovery quickly and you're good as new before you know it.

@Mia in MI I too found out that I had shrunk 1 1/2". My height had not been measured in years, but they measured at the bariatric surgeon's office and I was upset lol Came home and made my hubby measure me again, and sure enough. Ugh!!0

@Chris in MA You go girl. You're doing great, you have every right to feel good about yourself. Thanks for sharing.
I'm from Denver originally and my oldest daughter still lives just outside of Denver. You'll have an excuse to go visit if your good friends moves out there0 -

Carol - many, many good thoughts winging your way for the op! :flowerforyou:

Other day, other chance to get it right. I am so ashamed to say I have been on an eating fest. Been fighting depression and just spacing things off. But feel better today. Been doing a lot of praying. It has been really hot the last couple days, glad I have an inside job.
Miramwithcats--Love the picture of your house.
Becca--What a Blessings for your sister to find that letter.
Sylvia--Sorry to hear what happened to Molley. Really p**ses me off she was not fired. Sounds like you all had a great time playing ball. I know it is the little things the grandchildren enjoy the most.
Janetr--Sure is a cutie.
Joyce--How terrible that someone would glue the cat's mouth shut. Sending hugs and prayers for you and DH.
Mia--Hugs for your rough Tuesday morning.
Lisa--I love your love story. There are happy endings.
Yvonne--Enjoy your motorcycle ride. I love riding and I agree it is very relaxing.
I am up to page 76. I want to thank you all for your support and friendship.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE0 -
Goal for June/July: (since it is so late in the month)
to get off pop!!!0 -
Ahhhhhh. That was the best 15 min of my week.
I’ve never gotten one of those PC scam calls, but if I did I would know immediately it was a scam. I don’t run MicroSoft on my computer. Linux gal here all the way.
Yvonne – I admit that I exercise for health first but ice cream is a close second in my book. I could not stick to my eating plan if I thought I would never be able to eat ice cream again.
Carol - Peach – How awesome that DH is joining you on MFP. When I cook for the 2 of us I frequently end up making 2 different meals because DH doesn’t like the same foods I do. Over this past year I have been working on finding main dish recipes we both can eat and then I make a side of veggies for me and a side of potatoes or pasta for him since he won’t eat veggies.
Mary from Minnesota – Hooray for the end of the move being in sight.
Chris in MA – Check with your doctor. The last time I was cutting a med in half my doctor had me take it every other day since literally cutting the pill in half was not possible.

Becca, so far I think your love story is the sweetest.
Someone said that to me.....awww....Sometimes our story is a bit amazing, and yep I did get to know him that first year being a Navy wife.
My middle Navy son will be visiting in October with his Navy wife. Excited, but its so far away. I haven't seen them since the wedding last Sept.0 -
