I'm giving up COMPLETELY on soda, carbonated drinks and bread!
My two weaknesses... I feel that they're holding me back on my road to
where I want to be and look and feel. Hopefully i'll be able to strengthen
my will power and do it! :)

No, thanks. I like bread. And I don't like unsolicited rules from strangers. Best of luck to you though!

Instead of giving up on bread entirely, I use the thin sliced multi grain 45 calories per slice bread. Toast and sandwiches are a treat I eat only a few times a week. You can also substitute with low carb tortillas. I gave up SOME sodas, because of the Aspartame in most of the lo-cal sodas. If it isn't sweetened with Splenda, I don't drink it. MY kind of soda is fruit flavored water, sometimes carbonated, but mostly not carbonated. Water and green tea is my favorite beverage(s).

I gave up kale, gluten free beer, and cauliflower pizza crust.

I make no claims as to whether you should too or not.

No. I shouldn't. Not at all.

Homemade bread and sugar cane Dr Pepper are two of the things that make my life worth living.

I gave up soda (regular and diet), sweet tea because I just don't need them and there is no nutrition in them. My wife is allergic to wheat so my bread consumption is way down but I still can have a sandwich at lunch. You should see positive results by eliminating some of these useless soda calories and at least limiting bread.

I have noticed some soda manufacturers are going back to using sugar. It sounds healthier than artificial sweeteners, but by "sugar" isn't it really high fructose corn syrup? I gotta watch those marketers 'cause they can play word games with the public, and the FDA doesn't always catch them all at it.

I don't drink much in the way of soda, because, let's face it, the rum would be detected at work way too often.

Anyway, I view sodas like I view most desserts, as desserts -- but I still have them in moderation.

Oh and vanilla custard is da bomb.

I can't speak for the law in other countries, but in the US if you cannot list "sugar" in the ingredients if what you mean is "high fructose corn syrup."

If the label says "sugar" how do you catch them really using HFCS?

Yes...and if the label says "carrots", that's code for "powdered sugar".

I'm glad you have had some measure of success. However, I choose to not avoid the things I love. I'm a much happier person for it.

If that works for you, have at it. But I'm doing just fine losing weight and enjoying those things. In fact, I've found diet soda to be a really useful replacement for all the sweet tea I used to drink.

Eyes on your own plate. What works for you is great - but don't try to force your ideas on others unsolicited.
