    After breakfast, stick to water

    At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda. The average American consumes an extra 245 calories a day from soft drinks. That’s nearly 90,000 calories a year—or 25 pounds! And research shows that despite the calories, sugary drinks don’t trigger a sense of fullness the way that food does.

    I'm up a few pounds, but I know it's due to bloating, and a few days of careless vacation eating. Next week I hope to be down 5 pounds (minis bloat and another pound loss from last weeks weight). C'est la vie, can't let it bring me down!

    Reduce Calories

    Reducing your current energy intake by 500 to 1,000 calories a day will help you meet your goal of a 1- to 2-pound per week weight loss. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, most women should aim for 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day for weight loss, while active women and women over 164 pounds may require 1,200 to 1,600 calories each day to achieve safe weight loss. Reducing your intake of empty calories, refined grains and added sugars is a good place to start when trying to cut calories.
