No, I don't find I am more hungry on days when I am at the beach. Sometimes the heat actually masks my hunger and I have to make a point to eat so that I don't undereat.

I drink water like a fish though.

I lived near a beach. I didn't find myself "more hungry" in the way some people might think. I think it may be perceived that way because people might be a bit more active (swimming, walking around, etc).

I only get super hungry on the beach when I don't drink enough water/hydrate well enough. Being out in the sun all day, playing in the water, and getting all schvitzy can leave you dehydrated. I alternate water and Powerade, bring snacks and a huge umbrella, and I'm set for the day :)

I get hungry while on the beach... mostly because I burn calories burying my feet in the sand, attempting the world's poorest example of a sand castle, shell hunting, pretending I can see dolphins in the water and trying to keep sand out of my *ahem*, you know.

Add to that some alcohol and sun and wheeeeeeeeee! SUPPA HUNGRAY!!!

I'm driving to the beach tomorrow. For a week I shall be doing all of the above and eating glorious amounts of food. Perhaps even a tuna sandwich with mayo that I pulled out of my iced cooler.

Do fish really drink water? Or do they breathe it? It's been way too long since I was in high school . . .

if I am at the beach and there is low pressure in the gulf will I be more or less hungry????

If a hurricane is on the way, you will be more hungry; hence, you should stock up on canned goods and other non-refrigerated necessities. Also fill your bathtub with water. Do all of this and at the end of the day, when the hurricane arrives, get the hell out of dodge in your car which hopefully has a full tank of gas.

Sir, Sir, are you OK? That cab hit you real good, you seem to be bleeding, and your arm is hanging out real funny.

What? Oh yeah, that was a real good hit, wasn't it.

But I'm alive and I have an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow anyways, hey that will give him something to do, won't it!

So, hey, you know that hit reminded me of hockey. How about them Vancouver Canucks? Trading out Bieksa and the Kassian kid....

Allllright then, let me make a comment and ask the question in a different way.

Comment - I don't eat enough. That's why I'm hungry at the beach. The end.

Question - For those of you who do eat enough, and for those of you that frequent the beach..... do you find that you are hungrier than normal when you spend a day at the beach?

    Better?

I am beating a dead horse at this point!

When I lived in South Florida, I went to the beach every Sunday. I ate breakfast before I went, brought lunch, a snack, and water, and was not any hungrier than normal.

For the record sunburns tend to make me less hungry on that particular day. And a bit feverish.

    1) and covered ad nauseum ....you are starving yourself to death slowly and painfully

    2) a day at the beach in the sun makes me less hungry not more ...until I get off the beach and then I will have a huge dinner

Oh no! Not the tuna sandwich on the beach!

For the record I went to the beach for the day yesterday. I had a decent breakfast first and I snacked all day while laying around. All I did for movement was get up a couple of times to wander around or re-adjust and jumped the wall to my car and back a few times.

Also, if you were part of the other thread I made a committment to call Thursday my official rest day, not even really an active rest day. My regular rest day would normally include at least one less intense boxing sesh. So at least I did that. I was tempted all day to go for a run or something... anything... but I didn't. So out of all the bad that people like to point out there was a least one small good in there too. Just saying.

If a train is heading North on track B at 38.2 miles per hour during an unusally cold July on the East Coast will I find my missing sports-bra in Iowa?

I'll be going to the beach in a couple of weeks. I'm generally hungry because a. I'm active on the beach swimming, walking, getting beat up by waves, etc. and b. I get hammered daily when I'm there because vacation.

To the first bolded part: We're not saying you didn't snack all day. We're saying your snacks were not sufficient and that's why you felt hungry.

To the 2nd bolded: If yesterday was your rest day, what did you do to burn 1000 calories?

This could be a ramblers tale, but I heard something about the sea air having an effect on people that don't normally find themselves by the sea (e.g. live there). So apparently the salt can stimulate your taste buds, the content of the air being different to inland areas (different compositions of oxygen, nitrogen and something called DMS?) can have an effect (remember your body's got a chemical balance it likes to keep too. All of this personally I think could be absolute b******s, and it's most likely the effect of the sun and wind drying you out and the effect of the heat on your organs which need a specific temperature range to be happy that's about as weird as I think reasons could be. You could just be hungry. Food is nice and everything is harder work in the heat.

Nothing wrong with sharks! Hammerheads are pretty awesome. And they don't usually attack people.

(Actually, the funniest shark bite story I ever heard was someone getting bitten by a wobbegong, which are some of the most docile sharks ever. The guy openly acknowledged that he stood on it by accident and felt it was fair enough that it bit him.)

When I went on a holiday to the beach earlier this year, I didn't feel hungrier than usual. Swimming in a chlorinated swimming pool on the other hand...?
