Fashion Peeves and Faux Paux, What's yours?

I pretty much hate all clothing in any regular store today. I try to go shopping and vomit on every rack. I used to like the old bohemian style.
Thank you!! I'm not alone. I leave a store these days just shaking my head, thinking WTF did I just see?!? Bring back the normal jeans and normal shirts!! For the love of all that's holy!
I honestly don't even know where to shop anymore. A fellow MFP'er suggested Free People...but I can't be spending $70-$90 on a shirt.
Me either. It's completely hit or miss. I have the best luck at Maurice's....it's a clothing chain in the south. But it can get pricey too. :grumble:0 -
I love my yoga pants, however I dislike when women wear their old worn out yoga pants to class!! I am a yoga teacher and guess what ladies?? You can see RIGHT through those in the crotch area!! Yep, right through them!! Makes for an interest class
:noway:
*goes to google "yoga class in Surrey"*0 -
Anything hipster looks horrible to me. High waist shorts and plaid with buddy holly glasses!! LIKE OH EM GEE, YOU ARE SO QUIRKY!!!!!!!!! And you are drinking a PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!!!!!!!! SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Dies*

First off, there are quite a few that irk me...My Step-Dad sports at least one a day :grumble:
Sweatshirts with booty shorts...Yeah, NO.
http://images.bloomingdales.com/is/image/BLM/products/4/optimized/8263644_fpx.tif?wid=1200&qlt=90,0&layer=comp&op_sharpen=0&resMode=sharp2&op_usm=0.7,1.0,0.5,0&fmt=jpeg
Socks with sandals, WHY? :noway:
Mismatching clothes...Brown plaid DOES NOT go with green plaid! Baby blue DOES NOT go with green plaid!
Steel toed boots DO NOT go with plaid shorts (usually with a shirt that doesn't match either... :grumble: ). That being said, if it's just to work around the yard, I don't give a crap. But if I have to be seen with you out in public for HOURS like that? NO.
Either tuck in your shirt all the way, or leave it completely untucked. DO NOT leave half of it untucked, it makes you look hung-over and/or incompetent in dressing yourself. :noway:
Shorts so tight and short that if she coughs I could see her butt come out the bottom (or so short that her butt already hangs out when she walks!)
Tank tops so tight that she's one mistimed cough away from a wardrobe malfunction.
Whatever happened to dressing classy? Like you have some measure of self-respect? I'm not saying you have to dress like a puritan, but my gosh honey leave SOMETHING to the imagination...
And above all, my worse fashion pet peeve is:
Leggings/Jeggings/Spray-painted on tights. They are NOT, I repeat, NOT meant to be worn as pants. If you must wear them, PLEASE wear a shirt/dress/tunic (SOMETHING) to cover your butt and crotch. Especially if they are nude color :noway: .
Ok, rant over :flowerforyou:0 -
People [not all] wear whatever awful look is in fashion and crap on eachother's taste every few years and it is just so stupid. Wear what you want. Who cares what joe blow likes?
What does irritate the living heck out of me is the the underwear out for display (the visible panty line, the *clear* bra straps, boy's/men's butts hanging over their pants, bra straps falling off the shoulder). Ugh. :laugh:0 -
I agree with almost everything you said except those are not "booty shorts". And I wear a hoodie often with shorts in summer because I have really weird circulation and my arms get cold but my legs don't. It's not for fashion, it for warmth LMAO0 -
A lot of the fashion these days makes me want to vomit.
Especially when people aren't dressing for their body type or age.
I'm with the women finding it difficult to purchase new clothes in their preferred style... So I do what I can with hand-me-downs and clothes my mom bought for me (she loves me, and Kohl's clearance section  )
Mostly, I wear workout gear, and that bothers even me.0 -

Same here.
In all honesty I am sure if most of the people on here saw what I wore on a daily basis I'd get the stink eye. The truth is I wear what I like and I really don't care if it's not in fashion or not what "they" would consider fashion.0 -
My peeve? People that use French incorrectly.
Boom.0 -
I normally dont give a rats *kitten* about what other people are wearing. It just isnt a priority.0

Crocs are awesome.0

That I understand. And I know those aren't booty shorts, just was one of the first pictures I found on google that illustrated my point When I lived in MD, the sweatshirt/short shorts thing was rampant pretty much all the time; To me, if it's warm enough to wear short shorts, you don't need to wear a heavy sweatshirt. But that's just me. My arms tend to get hot faster than my legs, so I usually wear short sleeves almost all year around except when it doesn't get above 40, and even then the long sleeves tend to be pushed up to my elbows. I think what bothered me the most about the sweatshirt/short shorts combo was that they wore it in the depths of winter...Seriously? Please put some pants on, there is snow on the ground!0 -
I'm really pretty chill when it comes to fashion. If you have the confidence to wear it out there, more power to you.
But socks and sandals will always catch my attention... in a bad way.0 -
Bow ties... i feel like we are forcing them...
button up shirts that are way to big and fuff over the top of guys pants, makes them look like they have a huge muffin top...
sports coats and blazers that are way to big for the guy wearing it...
those big fat ties that your grandfather used to always wear, slim those things down fellas, fat ties make you look fat...
square toed dress shoes...
P.S. Guys if you go somewhere with your girlfriend (especailly if it like out to eat) and she looks nice and wearing a dress or an outfit that she looks cute in, dont be douche and wear baggy pants and an oversized t-shirt... if she looks nice you need to look nice, otherwise it makes her look like she has horrible taste.0 -
Oh yeah and all this floural print stuff on guys... wtf? and also those pant and shorts that have little flyfishing lures looking things on them, idc what GQ says, those are just tacky looking.0
-
I like high heels on women, but not when they clomp with every step they take. Makes me laugh every time as it sounds so ridiculous. Sounds like the Budweiser Clydesdale team is coming.....clomp, clomp, clomp.0
-
Thanks to the person who mentioned Crocs. How could I forget? Also, sometimes it's not even what the person is wearing, but the event that they're wearing it for. Like high heels on the beach.0
-
Yes crocs are OK NEVER
Skinny jeans on guys NEVER
Flat billed hats NEVER
And that 1/2 tucked thing in the OP is absolutely TURRABLE!0 -
Pants hanging too low! Not to mention the ones belted below the *kitten* :explode:0
-
I hate those 'brothel creeper' shoes. If I see anyone wearing them, I immediately know I will not like them.0
-
Skinny jeans. They look atrocious on ANYONE. Babydoll dresses/shirts. Makes you look prego.0

Visible bras. If you can't wear a bra without it being visible in the top - don't. If you don't have the pair to go without a bra - don't buy the top. I don't want to see your dirty off white bra straps with a spaghetti strap tank...so easy to just put on a strapless. If it's some crazy partially backless thing...get the proper undergarments ladies. Please. It looks SO bad.0
-
Lets just ban clothing altogether, problem solved.0

Oh no! I'm becoming your mother-in-law! lol! I almost felt old but I've hated this since I was about 14 and girls around me started doing it I think. Crocs too. Definitely no crocs.0 -
Thanks to all for pointing out my hideous error, I accept so humbly. It's been a REALLY long time since high school French::embarassed:
Faux Pas: Stays the same. When a noun ends in s, it doesn't change in the plural -- in writing nor in pronunciation. As for the adjective faux, masculine adjectives ending in -aux stay the same in the plural. If it was feminine however, fausse would become fausses.0 -
I second the Croc thing. They are actually banned at my daughter's elementary school.
Mostly I just wonder what people think when they are either dressing in clothes that don't fit or go with their body type or are dressing way too young for their age.
I think a half shirt OR low rise jeans can be a good look. Not both with a pierced belly....especially an unfit belly which is nearly always the case.
Also I don't want to be made painfully aware someone is wearing a thong. As in riding on their hips above their low rise jeans.0 -

I never did like baby doll dresses. Always thought it was creepy for a grown woman to dress like a toddler.0 -
I love when people wear ridiculous outfits, love the black socks and sandals, almost all listed. It gives me a grin and makes me feel better about being the chick always in yoga pants and vibrams (always trying to get a workout in)0
