heh- I tried watching Team America on the treadmill once- not so much- I had to turn it off- way too dangerous to be laughing that much and focused on a show instead of just listening.

I did 8km/5 miles late last night before bed and a quick 6km this morning after I dropped the kids off and before work. Would have liked to do more but that's all I had time for today.

Currently at 114km/74 miles for the month with 236km/147 miles to go.

    8/1: 5 miles
    8/2: 11.5 miles
    8/3: 4 miles
8/4: XT day: 42 min bike (12 miles) and 35 min walk (2 miles), AKA: 2 episodes of Gilmore Girls
    8/5: 8 miles
8/6: 6.5 miles with the Thursday crew
    8/7: 5 miles
    8/8: 3 miles
    8/9: 18 miles
    8/10: 4 miles
8/11: XT/Rest -- Taking the "rest" part of XT/Rest seriously today. I haven't had much of an appetite the last couple days, so I don't need the extra calories. Instead of sit on a stationary bike for 45 minutes, I'm gonna read a bit and listen to our ongoing thunderstorm and maybe even have a pre-dinner snooze.

@ddmom0811 when you live where it snows a bunch you need them for inbetween shoveling. Smart people never let the snow pile up to 7+ inches to shovel so you go out and shovel your driveway, but now your boots are wet so you use the dryer. Then in an hour when the snow is 7" again :anguished: you have dry AND warm boots to put on.

They also work great for your kid's soccer cleats. It drys the sweat out of them so they don't stink so bad!

I love that idea! We own stock in those little balls with the baking soda in them.

You know those days when you feel every single meter and the run is just taking forever? Or so it feels? Today was one of those days.

    4.2 km for a total of 7.5/50k

you think so? I've only run 25 miles- I think if my math is correct you're at what 24? that's not that much more.

I'm following the Novice 2 program from Hal- actually- well to be fair- my milage would be higher total for training since I skipped the first full week- oh- speaking- I should count up how many miles of training total for this and log that as well (since it's 12 weeks) ! hey there. but it's not overwhelming- the weekly runs stay pretty much the same and the weekend run goes up. it seems reasonable to me!

being said... I need my calculator!

225 including the race- 210 roughly (minus the decimals for races and what not) without the race.

let's see- I missed the first week ran only 2 total instead of the 9
    so 6... then 20

so 20, 16, 10- I think if I just added up the calendar properly- I have run 46 of the 225 I'll technically be running for training.

I think I'm just at 19. But going to run 2 more times this week. So should be at 29 by the end of the week. I guess it is about the same! I guess I saw you posting so many runs I thought it was a lot more. :)

@7lenny7 & @skippygirlsmom - She told me she uses them for her running shoes and boots. I'd just never heard of it. Grew up in the DC area but that was invented when I moved to FL many years ago. Or if it was we didn't have one.
@skippygirlsmom - yep I'm the same way when we go somewhere. That's one reason I'm so excited to go to San Fran at the end of the month! It will be nice weather for running! Although @shanaber did remind me of those things called hills that are in San Fran, that we don't have here. :scream:

I've had to cut a few runs short due to calf pain. I'm about a half mile in and make it a mile and quit.

Looks like my sodium is OK. It's hot, but I don't salt my food. I've been drinking coconut water, and an occasional magnesium capsule. My diary shows I'm getting about 1/3 of the rda on potassium. Think that's it?

Of course, I'm having constant SI pain again. Maybe my gait is altered. I know chronic pain messes with your iron..

@Elise4270 ... that OK weather sounds intense. Besides nutrition, maybe a lot of ice and 4AM runs, out of the heat? Please stay healthy!

    8/11: REST DAY!!
    8/12: 10 miles

I've had a weird lack of appetite lately and have been eating only 1400-1650 cals the last couple days (I should be getting 1800-2000 total), and I could really feel it on this run. I was hoping a day off would mean lots of energy today, but instead I felt totally slugglish. Hopefully my appetite will come back today and I can eat all the great foods I've pre-logged!

Worried that I've tweaked something in my hip flexor. Had to cut an anticipated 4 mile run short this am.

    8/4 - 3.2 miles

8/7 - 4.4 miles in the fog  5K Run to the Rescue with Skip and some of her teammates tomorrow.
8/8 - 3.1 Run to the Rescue 5K today. Skip and I ran, it was trail for almost 2 miles (I've never run off the road) then onto the road, then onto parking lot gravel (ugh) then back to and finish on grass. We don't have official times, I was I did a 9:43 pace just over 30 min so not near a PR, Skip said she was about 23:49 not near her PR either. I thought it was a tough course, a few hills. The trail was hard for me very rooty and uneven, but it was a lot of fun. I finished 3rd in my AG and she finished 1st in her AG.
    8/9 - 9.3 miles
    8/10 - 3.5 miles of recovery - it's my birthday it's my birthday!! :sunglasses:

I forgot to mention...I'm now a member of the Poop Patrol!

Some of you may remember I posted a link to a map created by a local running website which shows the locations of public bathrooms (and drinking fountains) in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. I noticed a lack of info in my area so I offered to help out, and was giving editing rights to the map. I've already added about 20 locations.

    @stoshew71 have a good trip
@kristinegift after a long run I can be so hungry the next day but then I'm not really hungry for a couple of days. Try your best to get those calories in though.
@elise4270 I'm sorry the SI is giving you constant pain and now a calf issue. Take care of yourself
@ddmom0811 we all have those horrible runs that you hope will get better as you go on but don't. Like a book you keep reading with the hope it improves :disappointed: I'm sorry you had one today
    @angiemc6 welcome!
@7lenny7 nice weekday long run I grew up on a lake with sail boats, it's so awesome
