@mwyvr - sounds like you and Kady had a great run!
    @mrskgrady - super picture!
@karllundy - I wore the new shoes this morning, nice! Skip says thanks! She has been working hard.

So I have to tell you about my run this morning. It's 5:30 am and dark, I see a couple just ahead of me, dressed in all dark colors walking with a stroller (which was dark too) - I could hardly see them. I moved to the middle of the street and as I pass I say "good morning" and the they do a quick hi, as I continue the woman says "skinny *kitten*". I'm like WHAT? So I stop and I said "excuse me did you just call me a *kitten*". I assume she though I couldn't hear it but it's mighty quiet at 5:30 in the morning. Before she had a chance to reply I said "first I may be skinny, but I'm not a *kitten*. You on the other hand are a *kitten*" and I turned and ran off. When I passed them again face to face I handed the husband my flashing light that I wear on my shorts and said I don't care if the *kitten* gets hit by a car, but do something to protect your child.

Remember now I run in my OWN neighborhood. I never saw these people before and will be happy if I never see them again.

38.34 mi/30 month. This was my third straight month of running, the most I've done since I graduated high school 3 years ago. I haven't felt this proud of myself in a long time!

wow what a nasty piece of work!

how can greeting someone make you a *kitten*? and your weight is none of her concern, if she dislikes her own weight so much she has to be mean about yours then shes free to work on hers

    thanks guys

fast 10k today, and quite a good time, yesterday effort was not a problem today

so 562 km for August, my best ever

not sure if I'll be able to do the same for september, and to be honest this makes me a bit uncomfortable, as I'd like to keep beating my records

it'll be dark, wet and cold soon :disappointed:

What the heck is up with people lately? I haven't had any experiences near as bad as these last two, but I have noticed more people breezing by without saying hello back to me. Must be the heat!

I definitely like the way you handled that one @skippygirlsmom, I had a choice response for the idiot that didn't have time for stupid running, but figured there was no sense in adding any more negativity on that one.

I got a 4 mile easy run in today to finish off the month. I wasn't sure if I would be up for it based on how things had been the last few weeks, but I was doing really well this morning so I went with the planned mileage.

    Here's to September!

    8/1 - 10 miles
    8/2 - 12 miles (22 miles total)
    8/4 - 8 miles (30 total)
    8/5 - 12 miles (42 miles total)
    8/6 - 8 miles (50 miles total)
    8/9 - 20 miles (70 miles total)
    8/12 - 16 miles (86 miles total)
    8/19 - 12 miles (98 total)
    8/22 - 20 miles (118 total)
    8/24 - 4 tempo and 4 easy miles (126 total)
    8/27 - 4 mile fartleks (130 total)
    8/30 - 16 miles (146 total)
    8/31 - 4 miles (150 total)

Goal 220 miles (70 miles short due to...well...not being at full health for a couple weeks)

PS: How do you get the fancy instagram embed to work on here? I tried yesterday and failed miserably.

@kristinegift All I do is visit the IG web page for the image I want, and paste the link into a "quote" within the post editor. Just pasting the link in your post body works too but for some people with work filtering their running obsessive forum reading, the quote appears to bypass the filtering. Maybe.

@skippygirlsmom I hate running into bad examples of humans while running... way to kill a mood, eh? But if there's a silver lining to this, imagine the husband having to live with that woman. :disappointed:

Good on you for handing over your light. You may have saved a child!

Congrats to everyone on a great month and lots of miles run!

I did a 20 miler on Saturday and 10 miles yesterday for a total of 333km/207 miles for August. My goal was 350km so I've got a bit of work to do tonight :)

I made it to 22 miles this month, which I was happy with, given I was away for a week and am trying a new pattern of shorter, more regular runs rather than longer ones. This seems to be staving off injury, yay! Now to set a real target for next month, rather than 'just run!'

You all are so funny. I was going to call her something worse, but didn't want to lower myself to her level of insulting based on appearance. I didn't allow her to ruin my run I just went about my business happy knowing I'm a good person and she is a miserable person. I'll pray for her.....who am I kidding no I won't, I'll pray for her little one.

@Stoshew71 - Awesome job going 34 miles over your goal!! WOW
@snha, @AlexPaige - Congratulations! You should be happy, proud and excited! Great job!!
@Elise4270 - interesting article on Neuroscience.
@skippygirlsmom - Great response to that b****! I always think of what I want to say, but rarely say it :( From now on I am going to use you as my example and stand up to rude people! I agree with @WhatMeRunning - what is it with people lately. Lots of people on my trail not acknowledging others on the trail or responding to a 'good morning'. It shouldn't but it really makes me cranky especially since most of them appear to be pretty serious long time runners. One lady I crossed paths with multiple times in 2 days finally gave me a very slight smile (could have been a twitch though) the last time I passed her on Saturday as I was finishing up my 8 miles. I chose to believe she finally smiled at me. Some of these people I think are just arrogant though.

Great job everyone - meeting your goals or not, you got out there and ran!! Way to GO!!

I managed to sneak in a short, fast run this morning between meeting calls! Didn't quite get all the way home before my call started so I called in and walked/ran part of the last mile home, hope I didn't sound too out of breath :noway:

LOL - that cracked me up. I agree with the others -- her poor husband.

@7lenny7 - I only got 2 pictures - and they aren't very good. One is when I was about 1.5 miles away and it was really foggy so you couldn't see much of it. The next was when I was going over the bridge and that's not very good either. The Bubble Soccer I saw appeared to be adults playing. They were definitely having fun!
