They're all more or less the same, in my experience. Peanuts is peanuts. I like ones with Peanuts and salt, otherwise it tastes a little flat.

I buy smuckers or Trader Joe's - their valencia is really good. I also like it salted.

I enjoy all peanut butters even if they have more than one ingredient. In my book, they are all "best". Except for Skippy. Too runny and it drips off my bread.

My Bulk Barn has a grinder and you can put the nuts through to make your own PB right there.

I prefer hydrogenated as I hate having to refrigerate my PB, and I don't like having to stir the oil back in every time I use it.

I was also going to make a comment about the grinders, hopefully you have one at a grocery store near you. They are very convenient.

Krema is a pretty good brand. The only ingredient is peanuts and it has 190 calories per 2 tablespoons. That's what I currently use. I get the crunchy kind!

Tried Smuckers recently, for some reason I didn't like it.

Local grocery chain (Giant Eagle) sells a store brand that is only peanuts, I like it.

Mr. Bulky's Foods will grind peanut butter while you wait.

Local shop (The Peanut Shop) will grind it any way I want it.

If it matters to you, anything hydrogenated has trans fats.

You will always have to stir peanut butter made of only ground peanuts, and keep it in the fridge. Some brands add another ingredient (can't think of it now but you can google it) that will make it non-stir and shelf stable. After years of trying to stir a cold brick of peanut butter and slopping oil all over the place I allow myself the natural stuff with the added shelf stable ingredient. I don't eat much PB anyway.

Only way to get peanut butter that is 100% peanuts that doesn't need stirred is to get it fresh ground. Any sitting on a shelf for a while will separate.

I use one which 100% pure peanut butter; nothing else is added. It's called Meridian Peanut Butter. You can get smooth and with bits in it. Yummey!

My peanut butter has 6 ingredients. It's special though.

I recently discovered this at Winco, and Whole Foods. I, personally, like to grind my own almond butter.

Sprouts has one that is only peanuts...no stir...no refrig. I like it.

Be careful though...they have one that doesn't have added ingredients but it has to be stirred and kept in the refrig.

    What does this mean?

OP you are asking for an impossibility. It's the hydrogenation that allows the peanut butter to be shelf stable and not separate. If you want 100% peanuts it's going to separate.

No. That's partially hydrogenated only. Fully hydrogenated is saturated fat, not trans fat.

Ha! But if the first is only peanuts, why would I need to be careful not to get the one without added ingredients? Either it's only peanuts or it has added ingredients. It can't be both.

You're right...I hate to stir...I hate to also have to store in the frig after I stir.

Because they have a few different types and the packaging looks similar...thus be careful which one you buy if you are looking for no stir.

At whole foods the have a machine where you push a button and can see the peanuts being turned into butter right in front of you that's what I get :) so good !!
