Saturday's ride ...
My husband and I cycled 42 km in an area we haven't cycled in a while. Just a few weeks ago, we cycled in the start/finish area, but this time, we headed another direction.
The ride was an interesting mix of flat and climbing with 311 metres of climbing. The main hill had a 16% grade, and the last time I tackled it, I struggled a lot. I was dying. So much so, we haven't returned to this route in about a year. But today it was OK. Sure I was in the granny, but I made it up without much in the way of huffing and puffing or back pain (thank goodness).
The weather was also perfect ... sunshine, not much wind, and 19C.
And just as we returned to the start area, we cycled through a suburb full of smells of spring flowers and BBQs.

Just got off the cruise ship, and it still feels like the ground is moving. I'll get back to normal in a few days. Still, ended up with a Garmin 225 for my birthday and was impressed how well it performed both as a wrist-based heart rate monitor, and for estimating my speed when doing treadmill running. Got in plenty of scuba swimming mileage as well (estimated via map) on the trip, getting my swimming total back to within reach with one week left in the month.

He's totally not concerned about my half on the 18th. He said my fitness level at this point is such that I could literally stop all workouts between now and the race, and still have no issue running the full 13.1...so that's good (I think LOL).

Pool at my building has been swamped the past few days due to some crazy heat, so I'll need to go a bit nuts the next few days to hit my swimming total. Getting very comfortable piloting my tri bike in an aero tuck, and it is getting much easier to knock out mile after mile above 20mph while keeping my heart under 75% max.

I have been such a slacker this month. Truth is, the combination of prescription drugs, and quitting smoking, has really knocked me for 6 emotionally. I'm up and down and mentally i'm all over the place, so apologies for not being about to enjoy your successes,

Baseball game tonight was cancelled, so in place of my commute to/from the game, I hit up the gym a second time to help on the swimming distance front - putting in my longest swim to date.
