Womens running is having a cover contest.... Some awesome ladies here might look good on that cover! I, of course, entered... Lol!

This took me to a site that allowed me to buy a hooded cape.
Did you mean this one?

Yup. Sorry I'm on mobile and its not always easy to navigate...
The cape is awesome, no?

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks because I've had an injury so no running for me, although I have kept up with all your posts which has help me stay positive .
Took a 2 mile hill walk today to see how my hamstring would hold up and apart for a bit of discomfit when I first started up hill it soon settled down and felt fine. I'm continuing to use the foam roller twice a day and have done pilates almost every day. Tomorrow I'll be doing a short slow run to see how my hamstring holds up.
Thanks to everyone for posting, it's great to see how your all doing. I love all the pictures, imfo and funny posts, I'm totally eddicted and even log on in the middle of the night if I can't sleep as lots of you in the USA are posting while were sleeping over here in the UK.
I live in a little village by the sea in North Wales.
Happy running all.0 -

Just realized I had my dates messed up in ticker. Wow, Sept is flying by! Weird how the month is flying by, yet Friday night is taking forever to get here.
I won't hit my goal, but I'm okay with that with all the biking and lifting I'm doing. Plus, I finally have a month where I actually did get one rest day in a month.0 -

Garmin tells me that the route I planned today -- which I thought would be some fun rolling hills -- was actually 1027 feet elevation gain (and 1056 lost, so yay net downhill!). If that's not an error with my data, then holy moly, I found all the moutains of Princeton! Got another 6.4 or so this evening with my running group before a pizza & beer night with my department, so guess who is going to eat EVERYTHING?

Oh @jorocka you hurt me so! Okay depending on where you live I'm willing to agree.
LOL I live out side trenton- and I drive INTO trenton for work- so - it's pretty much like the dirty jerz LOL
My man lives in Bergen county- so it's not remotely like the dirty jerz- it's beautiful up there- I wish we could live together up there- but it is nonsensical for me to go there- everything for me is here- including my dance studio- unless I started dancing in the city- I couldn't commute down to the studio as often as I would need- so alas- he will move to me. But it's so surprising how varied NJ really is- I was blown away when I first moved here- I've grown to like it- this place surprisingly suits me.0 -

9/9 - 4.5 miles, super comfortable. 64° and lower humidity...yay!
9/10 - 5 miles treadmill/trek class...super sweaty

exactly LOL I get so sad I have no good pictures to show you all- I have to drive for my long runs and then I get pictures- otherwise- I'll be taking pictures of houses- cemeteries and cracked side walks. LOL
I forgot to tell you all on my 4-6 mile runs- I have to run past not one- not two but THREE cemeteries! (well- one of them is technically a pet cemetery which I'm not sure is worse or not LMAO)
I'm not sure if it's hysterical- foreshadowing- or creepy! Haven't decided.0 -
9/1 - 3.5 miles - way too many pushes on the snooze this morning!
9/2 - rest day walked the doggie instead
9/3 - 5.1 miles
9/4 - 10 miles last 2 were HOT HUMID and MISERABLE LOL
9/5 - rest day - cross country meet - Skip did great 24th in her division 23:37 no where near a PR but it was so hot and humid you could hardly stand to be out there to watch let alone run. Proud of my girl.
9/6 - 5.1 miles
9/7 - 5.2 miles of trail running - OMG we had so much fun!!! Skip wanted to practice trail running for her meets and folks gave me some great recommendations of trails to run. We went out this morning and had a blast. The first trail was marked as easy/difficult so it was some easy packed dirt and some gravel with harder roots and rocks to climb. The second was difficult and some parts were about 2' wide and quite a climb (for me LOL). We loved it!
9/8 - 5.1 miles
9/9 - 5.5 miles
9/10 - 7.2 miles nice slow pace this morning, just wanted to get the miles in. Still pretty humid (97%) but the temp was 69 so it was nice. Annoying little doggie chased me this morning and nipped at my heels, honestly people it's dark out keep your doggies inside so they don't get run over.
9/11 - 5.3 miles - cool 64 but humid 100% morning, but nice weather for a run
9/12 - xc meet rest day
9/13 - 2 miles - was going to rest, but did 2 miles at the lake to move my legs
9/14 - 6.2 miles - good night 46 degrees in Alabama in September who would have thought it!
9/15 - 5.4 miles
9/16 - rest day
9/17 - 8 miles - started off ugly and then got great and felt good. Negative splits the whole way...that never happens
9/18 - 5.6 miles
9/19 - XC meet - rest day
9/20 - 10 miles felt good the whole run (that never happens) every mile under 11 mins most were around 10:34 the last was 9:56 giving me a 10:33 overall pace. I'd have to check but that has to be my best 10 miler. Taking Skip to see US Women's World Cup team play Haiti this afternoon. Can't wait.
9/21 - 5.2 miles in the rain - well drizzly
9/22 - 5.2 miles
9/23 - rest day
9/24 - 7 miles
106.6 of 120 miles

@jorocka @stoshew71 - I remember you mentioning Bergen County and thought that was where you lived. Yeah you are definitely not in the bestest of Jersey. I was born in Newark so I have no room to talk. LOL Now @kristinegift she has it going on where she is, some amazingly beautiful places in the Princeton area. I grew up in Lake Parsippany and it was awesome as a kid, but moved down "the Shore" when I was in my early 20s until I moved here 8 years ago. Except for it being so expensive, Jersey really is a great place, lots to do and see, close to so much and did I mention "the Shore"?
@kristinegift great run today and considering you'll be doing 2 run yummy food!!! Mountains in Princeton, that is so funny, no seriously you have probably found the only elevation in that area
@7lenny7 sorry the boy is sick, hope he's better soon...same for Kody
@ddmom0811 you have gotten in a lot miles especially considering the biking and lifting. Glad you are finally taking those rest days.0 -

Glad you are finally taking those rest days.
My wife Jennifer is from Bergen county. She went to HS in Hackensack.
Who wants a house out in Hackensack? Is that all you get for your money?
It seems such a waste of time, if that's what's it all about. Mama if that's moving up, then I am moving out.
I was from Union County, Rahway to be exact. And not where the prison is. That happens to be in Avenel next door. Just because they got their mail through our post office in the day, we get known for the prison.
Then we moved to Eatontown and then Brick down the shore. Although, once you already live at the Shore, you go to the beach. Only Benies go to the Shore. ;-)
NJ is so expensive because everyone is out to get ya. You know some people in this country have no idea what a toll plaza on the Parkway is? yet everyone in NJ is accustomed to having to hand a guy a dollar for every 20 miles they have to drive on the highway.

Comments on preparing for a 5k race on Sunday are welcome. I saw a website that seems really good suggesting I rest on Friday and do little comfortable short running on Saturday--just to keep myself flexible! Anything else I should pay attention to?

^^^^ this is very dependent on the type of runner you are and how your training went. Some people do better with a shakeout run the day before. It really depends. Have you ever taken 2 days off from running before? How did you feel when you returned? Do you feel you do better with one day rest or no?
What are your expectations from this race? PR or is this your first 5K? If it's your first, just go out there and enjoy the experience.
Do not get caught up by the crowd and other runners. Know what your pace is and stick with it. Do not go out too fast even if others around you are.
Line up with the same people that expect to finish about the same time as you. Do not line up towards the front if you are not expecting to finish it very fast or take walk breaks. Line up towards the back then.
Thank all the race volunteers. Without them, the race could not happen.
