Well shoot. I looked through both artists wikipedia pages and their discographies and couldn't come up with anything. I think it's because my brain is fried from the week.

#1 from 8/31/1985 AT40 countdown. Also from the movie my future wife and I saw on our first date (and our second date).

    Helicopter + comedian Jerry / Marty McFly = [artist/song]

Huey Lewis / Back in Time (although I guess 'Power of Love' also fits)

Found an answer after perusing a discography for Huey Lewis and the News. I'll pause a bit in case someone knows it off the top of their head. The songs were both pretty big hits for them both.

If This Is It -- This Is It

I remember NCAA March Madness commercials at the time played a clip of Darnell Hillman (Dr. Dunkenstein) slamming one home to "This Is It!".

This was the same year Charles Barkley played in the NCAA tournament for Auburn. I saw quite a bit of it that year because I had my appendix out after it burst and was laid up for a while.

I think this song was the 'B' side of "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" for Wayne Newton and was on The Partridge Family's "Greatest Hits" album.

Beats me! I remember a few of Wayne Newton’s songs, but not many. I thought the Partridges only had one song. I’m the right age, but not a fan of either.

This should be easy. Song from 1968 popularized in a 1969 movie which has been very active in the media this week.

3-way mash-up (see spoiler for definition). I'll provide the 3 artists (in order) and you have to provide the 3 connecting songs.
    Definition:
    Mashup: MA` sh * up: (n)
The would-be song if two artists mashed their titles together
    Example:
Artist: George Gerswin and Elvis =
Song: I can't give you anything but LOVE Me tender

    1. Rolling Stones
    2. Soundgarden
    3. U2

The clue is probably too obscure. Getting the artist will make the song easy.

Hutch was a character on a 70's cop show.

I look at This Day In History on history.com each day. One of today's stories.

    https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/zager-and-evans-end-a-six-week-run-at-1-with-their-smash-hit-in-the-year-2525-exordium-terminus

The American pop-rock duo Zager and Evans end a six-week run at the top of the charts with their ponderously titled single “In The Year 2525." It would be their one and only hit.

Zager and Evans never returned to the pop charts after their triumphant debut in the summer of ’69. The disbanded just two years later, in 1971. In their very brief career, however, they spent longer atop the pop charts (six weeks) than many more enduring acts. Like so many stars whose hits have not stood the test of time, however, they have been nearly expunged from cultural memory.
