4-way mash-up (see spoiler for definition). I'll provide the 4 artists (in order) and you have to provide the 4 connecting songs.
    Definition:
    Mashup: MA` sh * up: (n)
The would-be song if two artists mashed their titles together
    Example:
Artist: George Gerswin and Elvis =
Song: I can't give you anything but LOVE Me tender

    1. Warren Zevon
    2. Eagles
    3. Rod Stewart
    4. Bob Seger

    2. Heartache Tonight
    3.Tonight's The Night
    4. Night Moves

Warren Zevon stumped me, (so I cheated)
Actually not familiar with that song. I liked it. I must expand beyond my Warren Zevon’s Greatest Hits. Great songwriter.

    1. The Heartache

For #1, I was actually looking for “Keep Me in Your Heart” but technically, you’re correct and you’re up!

It's a good song and I play a game with one of my co-workers where we try to blurt out the first three words of a song first. Also, I know you're a big fan.

    Back to more math.

    Philip Sousa | Livingston Seagul + Mountain Lion / (Sad + alone) + -(new) + -(day) = [artist/song]

First time I heard him was the song "This Time". I went out and bought the album, "Nothing Matters And What If It Did". Quickly became a favorite album, at the time.

I got it! I got it!

I looked at it earlier and couldn't make much sense of it after the first section. Then sitting at supper tonight it just clicked for me.

I'll delay for a bit and let someone else take a whack at it.

    Rick Springfield/Human Touch

Never knew he changed is name.
I recall his song "Speak To The Sky" from a K-Tel record, in the early '70s

    Correct.

I didn't know he changed his name until well after the 80s. I'm not sure if I recall anything other than "Speak To The Sky" from his earlier album.

Listening to the end of the year countdown from 1980 on iHeart Radio's Classic AT40 station. Good stuff.

We had meat loaf (turkey burger) the same day I posted that question.

    Ambrosia/Biggest Part of Me

That's the kind of song that was the background music to my younger years. The cliché "soundtrack of my youth". Takes me right back to a moment in time.

The first concert I went to was Foreigner (Double Vision), Christopher Cross (Christopher Cross), and Ambrosia (Life Beyond L.A.). Awesome.
