    Well that helps.

    1. The Go-Go's -- We Got The Beat
    2. Michael Jackson -- Beat It
    3. Roxette -- It Must Have Been Love
    4. Mickey and Sylvia -- Love Is Strange?
    5. The Doors -- Strange Days?

That was off the top of my head. Will think about/investigate the last couple. (Took just a few minutes.)

    Yes, Earle

That did it for me. This song was on a two CD set from about 20 years ago called "Goin' South". It was pretty good stuff.

    Steve Earle -- Copperhead Road

    Correct.

I guess that one wasn't one of his biggest hits, but it was on the countdown.

Good song. Not sure he has any BIG solo hits, besides Missing You. Love his voice, though. Lots of good songs on his records. Listen to the first three songs on his debut album, Ignition. Crank it up. Slam dunk!

3-way mashup (see spoiler for definition). I'll provide the 3 artists (in order) and you have to provide the 3 connecting songs.
    Definition:
    Mashup: MA` sh * up: (n)
The would-be song if two artists mashed their titles together
    Example:
Artist: George Gerswin and Elvis =
Song: I can't give you anything but LOVE Me tender

    1. Lesley Gore
    2. Eddie Murphy
    3. Cindi Lauper

I think the band is pretty easy. For the song here are additional clues.

John Cougar album - American + Gene Kelly movie - Singin' = [song]
