On My Own -- Michael McDonald and blank?????

I couldn't come up with the other singer without research. Penalty box while someone else fills in my blank.

Is it Patti LaBelle? Not Aretha. Older, attractive black lady. I can see her, hear her. But I’m terrible at names.

Was actually going for Jefferson Airplane to get the trifecta - Jefferson AIRPLANE, TRAIN and The CARS (Automobile). But Starship works. No points deducted. Carry on.

    So far so good.

The songs and artists aren't related. Just that each of the artists is kind of known as a one hit wonder.

    What is the one hit?

    1. Debbie Boone -- you light up my life
    2. The Starland Vocal Band -- Afternoon Delight
    3. Norman Greenbaum -- Spirit in the Sky
    4. Blue Swede -- Hooked On A Feeling
    5. ***Thin Lizzy -- Boys Are Back In Town

***Technically, Thin Lizzy is a one hit wonder. Odd but true. They have so many good songs and albums. Whiskey in the Jar, Johnny The Fox,, Jailbreak (the album and the song) The Jailbreak single did not crack the top 40 in the US, which is what by definition, makes it a "hit".
However, look at their overseas top 40 chart, and their hits are numerous.

Another "one hit wonder", by definition: Janis Joplin. Her only "hit" is Bobby McGee. Her band Big Brother and The Holding Company had the tp 40 hit "Piece of my Heart".

Wonder how many more legendary artists and bands were one hit wonders?

That's what I was looking for.

I think You Light Up My Life is probably the biggest one hit wonder of all time, but not too far behind is Afternoon Delight.

@snookeroo give us a new one at your leisure.
