according to webmd, it is for:
Loss of interest in sex (low libido)
Erectile dysfunction
Arthritis pain
Injuries
Osteoporosis
Liver damage
Anemia
Some supporters also say that deer velvet can:
Improve performance in sports
Increase energy
Improve immune function
Help you better handle stress
Which of course means it's a giant waste of money.0 -

It's complete and total nonsense. The supplement is sold almost purely based on marketing. There are no decent studies showing that it does anything useful.

We give it to our 13yo black labrador per our vet. It's done wonders for his doggie arthritis. Never heard of it having anything to do with weight loss in humans tho.0

Those poor deer! If they have antlers, they must need them.
Seriously, what is deer antler supplement supposed to do?
If it has to do with weight loss, the only valid supplement for weight loss is a calorie deficit.

Actually this stuff is in capsule form, made from the deer antler velvet. I'd never heard of it b4 but our vet recommended it. Shadow has major arthritis in his spine and hips. Our vet suggested we try it since he was maxed out on the amount of pain meds he could safely take. He's been on it for a month now and we've been able to reduce his pain meds and he's regained some of his old bounce. He hasn't lost any weight tho.0 -

Deer usually shed their antlers annually. The growth seems to happen in relation to the testosterone increases that happen around mating seasons, which is why people pedal the stuff as a some kind of testosterone booster.
So probably no animals besides humans are getting hurt with this stuff.0 -

Deer antlers are great for weight loss
As long as they are still attached to the deer and you are carrying the whole thing a mile or so back to the truck. Uphill is even better.0 -

You took that in a different direction, I thought the deer would be chasing me! (Which would also work, OP)
OP, eat the foods up to the calorie goal that MFP gave you. Eat back 50-75% of your exercise calories. Give this four weeks (at least) and see what has happened. Then decide if you want to change your goals, based on results. It's really that simple (not easy, but simple). You can do it without spending money on untested and unproven supplements.0 -
If it is made from velvet, it must be harvested from captive deer. Deer shed their velvet by scraping it off while it dies and dries, in the wild. There is no velvet on them by the time they are harvested during hunting in the fall, or shed the antlers in the winter.0

You, I get! Lol0 -
Ewwww..... no. Leave the dam deer alone. Go watch Bambi and re-evaluate.....
JK;)
No for real, this sounds as pointless as any other supplement gained from some random part of an animal. If it worked scientists would've already created a chemical version in a lab and we'd be using it to treat erectile dysfunction or something.0 -
You should fight deer instead, that will burn calories.0
