Half way to my 100km goal for the month. Hope to do more 5k runs now, at least 3 a week, as well as walking on the days in between.
I never used to count walking in my goal distance, until I hurt my ankle and then I started counting the km's as it was all I could do.. I think I will continue to count walking distance too though, so this month will be a good opportunity for me to see what I can base next months distance on.
Great running everyone!! Excellent effort to everyone who ran races!!!0 -
Congrats @Stoshew71!! What a great marathon time, and thanks for sharing the pics! Can't wait to hear more about the race!0

2/1 - 1.6 miles - 3K fun run with my friend John, who just lost almost 100 lbs Oh yeah I realize 1.6 isn't a 3K but that's what they called it even though my watch said 1.6

12/4 - no mojo day
12/5 - 7 miles
12/6 - 3.9 miles trail run with my running group
12/7 - 5 miles
12/8 - 12 - wrist surgery recovery
12/13 - 4 miles
26.5 of 120 miles
Going to have to change my miles for this month obviously. Weird run today, my knee has been bothering me on and off and this morning at mile 3.5 it hurt enough for me to limp, by 4 miles it gave out and I had to stop running. I started to walk the mile home and it started to feel better so I tried to run again the pain came back immediately, the whole bottom of my leg was numb. Walked some more and then ran about .2 miles and was home. Might call PT tomorrow and see if I can see him.
I'm so behind on the thread but I need to get my tree up! Hope you all are having a great weekend.0 -

It's barely past noon and I've already had such a day! I made chili to put in the crock pot (smells delish), wrote the last few pages of a paper I need to edit and submit as a draft today, then did my "long" run (longest post-marathon, that is), and now I'm going to go hiking because it's 65 degrees and brightly sunshiney in DECEMBER. I should be writing papers and reading articles, but this weather is too amazing to pass up. It'll just have to be a late night.
For anyone keeping up on my cranky hamstring: it felt ok today, on hills I had to remember to take smaller steps going up so it wouldn't twinge. But otherwise felt great. And the 8:20 paces I've been running lately tell me that I'm back in decent form post-marathon. Training doesn't start again til the end of January, but I'll be able to get on a regular schedule now, which makes me very happy.
Upcoming races:
5/1/2016: New Jersey Marathon
6/12/2016: Run & Ride HM at Cedar Point
@skippygirlsmom Oh no, sorry about the knee! Hope it feels better soon! Hurting knees are the worst, I think. I've had my share of knee issues and I hope yours is quick to behave again!0 -

Up to about 15km so far so need to get moving!
If anyone uses the Adidas training app (micoach) please add me emma20120 -
12/2 - 3 miles at 4:15am, I am tired but glad I got out as it is supposed to be a rain/snow mix tomorrow. Good start to the month.
12/5 - 3 miles. Getting faster but still working on cutting out the walk breaks.
12/7 - 1.5 miles. I tried my hilly park run and it was too much. My piriformis was complaining on the first down hill so I made it one loop instead of my planned 2 and quit. I gave it a good stretch and a cold shower when I got home and it is good today.
12/9 - 2.5 miles. Very stiff and sore. Never got into a good rhythm or loosened up after a session the day before with my trainer.
12/12 - 3 miles. Had an unleashed dog come running out to "protect" her owner as Neeko and I were going past. Luckily her owner was right there and she didn't go into attack mode, just ran out and barked at us. Only thing that got me really mad was her owner saw us coming and did nothing until she started out the drive and across the street. Luckily Neeko didn't really react and listened when I told him to stay and sit as he has a tendency to fixate and go into protect mode himself or it could have gone really badly.
13 down 12 to go.

Congrats @Stoshew71 on your race! I'm sorry yours didn't work out 'til the end @ACSL3 , but you made a good decision for the sake of your future runs. I hope you're up and at them very soon!
I had a 5K this morning that was supposed to be a "moral support" run for a friend who was running her first race, but she got sick and dropped out. So I decided to see how fast I could run it, in spite of my own impending head cold. I think I did pretty well! I'm still not where I'd like to be (sub-30), but I've taken more than 2 minutes off my time in the past 4.5 months.
ETA: I just wanted to note that I think my improvement is definitely evidence that the "put in the long, slow miles, and you'll run faster" advice is spot on. I *never* run 10:10 for 3 miles when I'm doing my regular running. Most of my runs are slower than an 11-minute mile. And yet--when it came time to run fast, I could! Hooray!
12/1 3.5 @ 11:17 on the treadmill plus strength training
12/2 5.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill. Oh my heck, please let it be sunny tomorrow. Or at least not so wet.
12/3 4.75 @ 12:03 on the park trail with the doggy. Yay! Sunshine!
12/4 3.5 @ 11:03 (really 3.25 at 10:48, plus .25 at a walk) on the treadmill, plus strength training
12/5 3 miles hiking with the cub scouts
12/6 Woke up feeling sore from Friday's strength training, so took a rest day
12/7 9.25 @ 12:26 on the park trail, nice and easy
12/8 3.75 @ 10:48 on the treadmill (3.5 at 10:39, .25 walk), plus stretch/yoga
12/9 5.25 @ 11:32 on the treadmill
12/10 Sort of rest day? Trip to Colonial Williamsburg with my daughter's history class. Lots of walking!
12/11 6.25 @ 11:18 on the treadmill.
12/12 Rest Day
12/13 3.25 @ 10:10 (5K race chip time 32:06--I finished 191/395 women 30/64 in my age group).

Yeah, in addition to my prolific history of crashing and burning, the ink is closely tied to my running. Like @MobyCarp, I am late in getting into the running party. I didn't start until I was 53, although @MobyCarp must have some amazing effing genes, because I can't even come close to his miles and speeds. That old goat can run. I just hack out as many miles as I can without any concern for speed or races. I sign up for one or two long trail races a year because I like training for them... but I don't particularly like running them... too many people...lol.

@5BeautifulDays .... nice run today!0

I got about 5 steps past the aid station and landed on a rock wrong with my left foot. Don't actually remember falling, just remember moving myself on the ground to sit on my backside. Scraped up my right lower leg decently (but no blood) and twisted my left ankle.
So sorry to hear about your ankle. It hurts so much, doesn't it! I have only done a few runs since hurting mine but i am very wary now and feel a bit robotic almost because I'm so careful now. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!!
