New Year’s Bump2

The thread that keeps on giving. I love this thread. After so many years on the forums I know what to expect too. It's now the season of the Resolutionists and after that the season of the I-bought-my-wedding-dress-two-sizes-too-small-and-I-haven't-lost-the-weight-HELP threads...
Survived. Ate all the foods. Up a little over two pounds. Thankful for a new year, and ready for the rain to go so I can get back out there. Life is good. I have the ability to get food and to store it ten feet away. I'd say I'm blessed.
The happiest of years I wish to all of you.

I think I ate my body weight in mince pies and chocolate and biscuits. Only gained 4lbs but I’m trying to drink a lot of water and will weigh myself in a week and see how I’ve done lol3

I didn't track dilligently. I wish I had. I am going to wait until my weigh-in day, which is Friday. I'm expecting a gain, but I'm going to try and keep it in perspective. Thanks for posting this. Happy New Year, everyone!0

The water weight and whoosh is real I ate everything my little heart desired 12/24 - 12/27 (those leftovers weren't going to eat themselves, after all). Long term damage: NONE! Right back to pre-Christmas weight today (I'm not a big New Year's celebrator, so last night was just a few sips of wine and a cupcake out of the ordinary).

In other news, I just found out I can order the entire series of Addams Family for under $20.
Such a fun show. I'm thinking of ordering it.

Yup, I should have a whoosh in a few days. Had a brief spike from Christmas, and then came down four days later. Didn't realize my NYE dinner was such a sodium hot mess, but knew I felt puffy when I went to bed and got up. Up two pounds this morning, and when I looked at the tracker, it was all OH! Twice my normal sodium. Damn. OK, carry on.0

I re-read the whole thread for a reminder to myself of how to deal with my own situation.
I’m in my 6th holiday season on MFP, 4th on maintenance, but for the first time decided not to log for a few weeks. I didn’t log over Thanksgiving, during a work trip in early December, and then haven’t logged since Dec 22nd. We are taking a family trip for the rest of winter break and then I have another work trip so I’m not planning on logging till I get back, roughly mid-Jan. This is a scary experiment and so far I’m struggling with keeping my own perspective since I haven’t been able to look at my log and calorie intake for reassurance that what I’m seeing on the scale is mostly water weight and holiday fluctuation. I’ve been above my maintenance range, but going into this was ok with it as I had noticed a bit of gauntness in my face and was thinking I might want to shift my maintenance weight up a bit. What I’m not thrilled with is the tight jeans and pudgy tummy since in addition to relaxing on the logging, the workouts have been nonexistent too.
Ahh well. This will give me something to focus on when I return. That’s the other nice thing about being a MFP veteran and continuing to participate here. I know what I need to do to lose the weight and get back on track. No mysteries about why the scale has crept up, and shifting it back down is a matter of applying what’s worked in the past and making it a priority again.

Me too lol! My hope (as it is every year) is that the new crowd stays consistent.....usually 2 or so, out of 20 stay committed to showing up regularly.2 -

My first holiday with MFP, I didn’t log, I was going to but we’ll life got in the way. I didn’t think about calories too much, because, well, life got in the way. Today, back to logging and exercise (Icame to grips with the fact I didn’t row on Tuesday because of a busy schedule).
I feel good and had a wonderful time with friends and family.
I’m happy with all of my progress the last couple of months and I’m excited to continue.
This thread is a great reminder to enjoy the lives that we are all working for!

I took 2 months off logging, ate pretty much whatever I wanted, and gained 10 pounds. Am down 2 and getting back in the groove. After 5 years I’m still learning- the hard way. But, I did eat lots of yummy foods.....0

Oh hey, look at me Currently up from 130 to 135. Not sure I'm going whoosh this all off by January 1st, as I've done a bit more 'celebrating' this year. Still, all good! 135 is the top of my maintenance range, so I won't want to stick around up here for too long.6
