    1/11/16 Neighborhood Walk (8 lbs weighted vest) 19,081 steps 8.16 miles 2:32:01 1,033 cals
I reached 150 lbs today. This was my original goal, first goal, to reach and here it is. Funny, I reached it on my Dad's Birthday. He would have been 77 today.

Sunny, but cold, I started my walk at 28*F and ended at 37*F. It snowed yesterday and have been stuck indoors for two days, so today I was going out no matter what.

Instead of ringing in the new year, we are walking in the new year...

    <3 !*! HAPPY NEW YEAR !*! <3

    *!* JANUARY 2016 Walking Challenge *!*
This is continued from previous Monthly Walking Challenges, just starting off with a new year *YAY*. Each month has its own thread.
*** Anyone can join in at any time. The more the merrier, let’s keep each other motivated****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you cannot track distance (or do not want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you will be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise you are getting in. :)

Come back here and just post how far you walked, even if it was to the mailbox on a given day. The important thing is that you are moving and getting out (or if you walked in place in your basement to a video). Sometimes we need a little encouragement in order to do things in life.

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise every day, and keep an eye on each other. Remember, you can track by steps, distance (miles kilometers), time, etc.

    RULES:
    *no bullying
    *no pressure
*just walking, dancing, stepping, snow shoeing if you like, hiking, anything to get you moving.
*just lace up the shoes and take a walk!

I got a Fitbit charge HR. I love it!! It keeps great track of my steps, and the calorie burns are more reliable. Love the workout mode. Love, love, love!!

    1/1...26973/11.6 miles (took a hike)*
    1/2... 7023/3.0 miles
    1/3...11768/5.0 miles
    1/4...11217/4.8 miles
    1/5...7222/3.1 miles
    1/6...14332/6.2 miles (hike!)*
1/7...23059/9.9 miles (3 walks, no hikes!)
    1/8...19488/8.4 miles (hike)*
    1/9...2514/1 mile
This is when I SNAPPED & bought the HR. At my caregiving job in a rural area of the Russian River i build a huge fire every morning, restock fire supplies from the garage, cook meals, and run up and down stairs at least a half dozen times, sometimes more, and my phone pedometer was not capturing any of it! Before El Niño hit I didn't care because I just came home & took a walk. But now I want to see those steps too dammit! :)
    1/10...11338/4.8 miles
    1/11...19092/8.2 miles

*So far I have 17 miles out of 500 contributing to Jack London State Park's Klondike500 Challenge!

I'm in! I recently had a baby and walking seems to be the easiest way for me to get exercise as I don't have the time, or energy, to get to the gym.

Does anyone know of any good walking for weight loss plans?
