Has anyone heard of a neighborhood where they don't want you to jog/run in it?

Back on point though, this thread is baffling. At first I thought the OP was just being patently absurd but then it occurred to me that maybe her paranoia is coming not from the man in particular but perhaps because she's had issues with the HOA before (or has heard stories about ridiculous rules being enforced)?
I have a relative who has had multiple run ins with their HOA about very nitpicky stuff. For example, they got repeated warnings about having a boat on their property that was "improperly stored". The boat was under a carport, because in the rules it says boats need to be "covered". Well apparently a carport isn't good enough, because you can still...see the boat. Really dumb, especially since it was a nice custom carport AND a nice freakin' boat!

There are important differences between neighborhoods with HOAs, neighborhood with restrictive covenants (CC&Rs) and private, gated communities. If the neighborhood you describe is the latter and the roads themselves are privately maintained then you are trespassing on private property- it's not different from running through someone's yard and you could be arrested for it if the locals get riled enough and the police want to play along. On the other hand, if they are public rights of way, then passing through as you are is perfectly fine whether or not the people living in that area like it.
ETA: Note that laws vary by state and locality.

Many neighborhoods cannot even have individual mailboxes, there is one central one for every 4-6 homes (each home had their own locked section in the general mailbox). I also think it would be illegal for them to forbid you access to a public area for something that doesn't harm anything.
If you were running on the wrong side of the road or if you were running on the road when a sidewalk was available, that would be illegal. But not the running itself.0 -

Haha I was going to say exactly the same thing about my 6mph chair! I wanted a sticker for such a long time that read "if you can't walk at 4mph don't try to step in front of me". (4mph is legal limit on pavements here).
Please define pavement. I do find this fairly comical BTW.
You can run on the grass though. Pavement would normally include concrete as well as asphalt... so wouldn't that mean cars can't go faster?0 -

Friend lived an area with a HOA. The HOA wouldn't let a guy put a basket in the driveway for his kids, against the rules. To get back at them he painted his house day glow pink (no rule against that).0 -

Common sense isn't too common these days. Has anyone ever been told they can't jog in the neighborhood they pay HOA fees in? I'm curious.
Reminds me of a paranoid friend I had, who came to visit and tells me, "that car has been following me for a long time". When I looked to see the car, it was parking across the street, because it was my neighbor. LOL!
The OPs boyfriend knows how to deal with his woman... wait till they tell you something sweetheart. lol!

People do get sexually assaulted by people they know. Just because she knows him, doesn't mean that he means her no harm. I'm not saying that he did want to harm her, but saying she knew him is not a good enough reason to not be wary of him.0 -
