Becca, does the TOPS pledge no longer contain the lines "Even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see. How foolish I have been!"? Although I thought it was important to acknowledge that people could see the results of overeating in private, I always thought that part was a little less than supportive. And although I did, not everyone overeats in private. Some do it in openly social situations. I like the new pledge better. It has been years since I went to TOPS, but I still remember that line.

Yep they took out that part, a bit too invasive for many. We currently have about 35 members in our chapter, and about 7 members are KOPS.

CheriGee2~ I have the pledge on a chalkboard in my kitchen and say it every morning before I start the day. It definitely keeps me in the moment, just looking forward. Hope you have a great weigh-in! My meetings are on Wednesdays at 8:30am (I help move tables etc.) then it starts officially at 9:45 until about 11 or so. We do alot of socializing, so we need all that time to get caught up in everybody's business! I lost 1 lb this week.

Lenora~ Your DH sounds like a keeper. I love been tucked in! I shall tell you a secret. Don't laugh now. When I was a small child, really my "first memories", I would rock myself to sleep. It's a hypnotic thing, and yep I still do it, when I am having problems "settling down". And yep, my husband rocks me, (if we are cuddling), its an action I never thought I could ever share been married, let alone my husband condoning it, but he does. I swear by coconut oil and after a bath I use it head to toe. Even put a dab in my eyes! I have yet to "pull" it between my teeth, but have heard sucking it back and forth in between your teeth for a bit, does your gums good. Just don't spit it out into your sink because your sink will clog up. Spit it out into your kitchen trash bin.

CheriGee, our plan is an AARP/United Health Care. The web site to sign up isOTC-ESSENTIALS.com There is a place to register and you put your ID number in. But we got a catalogue in the mail. If you didn't get a catalogue, you may not have that benefit. Charlie got his today. I got a digital thermometer and some afrin nasal spray for him in addition to the diapers/

Had my eye appointment with the specialist today. He said the floaters just take care of themselves. I will have the laser procedure Feb 23. He said I have floaters in the left eye also but may not have known I have since there was so much apacity in the eye so after laser is done I might notice them. Both my eyes were dilated.I hope I can read music tonight at choir practice!

    Joyce, Indiana

Joyce, Thank you for the information. I'll check it out. I remember when we signed up, our agent mentioned something about over the counter benefit. CheriGee

Terri in Milwaukee~ The Twinkies pan for banana bread...GO FOR IT!! I like mine because putting 1/2 cup in each mini loaf gives you more sides for that awesome crumbly crunch, and it only takes 35 min to bake. What I do with over-ripe bananas is toast some Vans or Kashi hearty waffles, spread with PB-2, then press in the banana slices, then drizzle with honey. Yummy!!

Hello everyone! I have just spent sometime reading all of your February posts. This sounds like a very tight and supportive group. I'm hoping you have room for one more?

Like all of you, I'm trying to make some healthier life style changes, lose some weight, work full time, take care of my husband, my lovely mother-in-law, one bad-*kitten* beagle, and not go screaming into the night during the process.

I received a Fit Bit for Christmas, and have been working towards my 10,000 steps. But I got sidetracked in January. I was out for three weeks with bacterial pneumonia, and really couldn't do anything. Now, I'm ready to work towards my goals. Hopefully with a little support and friendship?

welcome.gif..this is a very open welcoming community....if you read the posts every day and post something---stuff about yourself, a response to what someone has said, a question...you'll soon feel like family. It helped me to take it one day at a time and make small changes each day.

Becca, unfortunately I found your 1 pound. But I lost 6 lbs. last week, which was pretty amazing. Not surprised that gained back a little of that. My first gain this year, and I could have done without that. Was happy to be second biggest winner for last month. I love the support of our TOPS group. Making that commitment each week really helps me. Cheri Gee

Hi everyone I am new to the group. I share of love for Standard Poodles with Barbie ( I only have one and two Maltese). I really need to loose weight this is the biggest I have ever been and I refuse to buy bigger clothes. The funny thing is when I see the dogs gaining weight I start giving them less treats and exercising them more. I realized I care more about them and their health then I do my own. This is the year I am going to change that.

    Goals for February
Log my food and water everyday.
    Stay under calorie count
    Eat more fiber

welcome.gif..my poodles are a big part of my fitness routine...I walk them one at a time in the morning and the afternoon and generally spend about two hours of my day walking dogs....I have two friends who have Maltese--what darling dogs.

Hello, ladies--I just discovered this message board. I'm 59, working to be fabulous at 60 and undo the damage caused by inactivity for the past two years. This month my goal is to get to 148 pounds (I was 153 on Feb. 1) while maintaining or increasing my lean body mass (104.5 pounds).

Love the pet pictures some people have posted!

I should mention too that I am new to MFP. I used to use tracker.dailyburn.com and loved it, and since making the move to MFP, I have not yet connected with anybody. So I'm glad to find this group.

Wow! This is a long thread! And you all have a sense of humor. Thanks for this, all you ladies(or where there some men as well?). I love it! Will be here tomorrow too, since I didn't have time to read it all.

Hi All. I am responding in no particular order as I have scrawled notes while laughing today.

KJLAnatomically correct art- hysterical. It reminded me of a time my daughter and I went to a museum when she was very little. We were waiting in line to get into an exhibit in a crowded hallway that displayed all sorts of photos on the wall and ceiling including some taken intra-utero. My 4 year old pointed one out and said- "look mommy- a picture of a baby in its mommy's vagina." Well, in front of us on line was a woman dressed very modestly wheeling a baby carriage and surrounded by several small children. She was highly offended, made a rather rude comment to me, and took off with her kids very quickly. A gentleman (who saw and heard everything) accompanied by some small children said very loudly-" How does she think her kids arrived"? Everyone in the hallway laughed.

Kim I love your solution to KJL's hot chocolate problem.

Margaret and Miriam The fairy garden pictures are lovely. What a great idea.

Gayle Did you make the clay sculpture that you use in your profile picture? It is so striking and elegant.

Heather The turkey burgers with spinach, scallions and Worcestershire sauce sounds so delicious. You mentioned the Women's Institute. Did you see the recent BBC series about the WI during WWII? For many younger Americans, their first exposure to the WI was the movie, Calendar Girls. What a terrific organization.

Sylvia You have inspired me. I intend to find a gaggle of gals and do a monthly trip to someplace interesting - with "junque" and antique shops, a museum or historical site for edification, and a wonderful restaurant. I did this years ago and you reminded me how much fun this is. I love the pictures of your dog. Such a graceful breed. Do you have a web site where we can see your work? Message me if you are uncomfortable sharing it on the forum.

Katla I checked out several riding academies this week. I am waiting to receive answers about private lessons in an indoor ring. The snow and ice preclude outdoor riding. At one time, my dream was to show at Dressage at Devon. Rather unrealistic, as I get horrible stage fright in the show ring. I once made it all the way to 3rd in the state in Hunter but that was only because my pony was completely bomb proof and loved me and all the state's judges that year must have taken pity on me. She was grand champion in-hand so you know I had nothing to do with winning - all her. I got her when she was a baby and I think that she thought I was her mother. I miss her dearly.

Pip Glad that both you and Bullwinkle are on the mend. What a lovely way to remember Rocky by naming the new puppy Bullwinkle.

DJ Be sure to bring back some sunshine from the cruise. do you need anyone to carry your bags? Hint, hint.

Terri Good luck to your daughter on Sunday. Regardless of the outcome, I hope you all have a wonderful experience.

    Penny Great on the writing.

Lenora-Molar pregnancies are so rare. How horrible to have lived through that. I hope your current situation is soon resolved.

Beth I hope your son finds a solution to the migraines soon. A colleague went to Johns Hopkins after running through all the local doctors and hospitals. They really helped him.

Irish Terri You have inspired me to clean out my kitchen cupboards right now.

Vicki Be careful in the drifts. Maybe Warren Buffett can discover a company that manufactures one handed quick and easy snow removal equipment. Spring thaw can't come soon enough, although we need the water in the aquifers for summer. Let's send some of this to California and the southwest where they are suffering from drought.

I walked 4 miles yesterday and the scale is .8 pounds less today. But, I went to a Chinese buffet restaurant today for a luncheon. I had seafood soup made with surimi and added lots of raw mushrooms and bean sprouts. I only ate some sushi, surimi sashimi and 4 ounces of teriyaki chicken with no skin. I piled on the bean sprouts as my salad. I had forgotten how wonderful the texture is. No dessert or any fried items. I did go over by about 70 calories for the daily total so no dinner tonight. Despite its reputation, Chinese food is quite fattening and most of the restaurant's offerings are not choices for healthy eating. With luck, I will not have gained anything back.
