Janet Thinking of you and your family today. The pain must be unfathomable with this being the second son to be lost.
On another note, I was watching Christiana Northrup this morning talking about EFT / Tapping. Has anyone tried that? Seems kind of hocus-pocus to me, but I've always admired her work so that lends credence to the topic.
Off to exercise.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Morning Ladies,
Rori, with all that you have scheduled (doc, eyes, haircut, etc) it sounds like you are going in for your 50,000 mile checkup. LOL Good for you.
Mary, love the “baby oil” picture!!! Hope your hip improves quickly.
Janetr, what a tragedy for your nephew and his family. It is such a blessing to so many that his family made the difficult decision to donate his organs. I certainly hope I would do that but until we are faced with the circumstances one never really knows. When the time is right, do let them know how much your PhatChat Friends think of them for their selfless act in this time of deep sorrow. (((Hugs)))
No time to read more. Finally time to load the car and head to Charleston. Today’s the day. I know ya’ll will be happy to not have to see my countdown anymore.
I hope all of you have a healthy and happy day. You ladies are great! See you in a week.
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
I Love you,
DJ

teri_mom - Yes, I do remember that show. I think it was funnier than "Smile, You're On Candid Camera" I think what they do is more believable. My Daddy was a 'character' ... to say the least.0

CJ, I just found a copy of "Simplify Your Life" on Paperback Swap. I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the suggestion.

My husband walked out unexpectedly about a year and a half ago. Thanks to the physical shock, I lost about 25 pounds, seemingly overnight. As I've put my life back together, the weight has creeped back on. My February goal is to lose five pounds. I'm trying to be reasonable and gentle on myself.
Been where you are at. Always hard to take care of yourself when you are use to taking care of others. I always put my husband and daughter before me. Still have a hard time doing things that are good more me. Feel like it is not part b of my makeup.

Heather: "Penny - Well done on that "lowest for eight years" number. What a great feeling! My number is the same as mid 1990. I was HOT then. Heather UK." You're hot now, too. Don't forget it!
Penny: Congratulations on reaching your lowest weight in 8 years!
Lisa: Your writing is fascinating. What kind of projects are you working on?
Alison: Be careful shoveling snow, and don't forget to log the calories. I'll bet you burn a zillion of them! You have a helping heart. It is good to know your DB is doing well.
nublan101: Welcome to a great group. :flowerforyou:
janetr: I am so sorry about your great nephew. Donating organs is such a positive thing to do but it must be anguishing for the family. They are very generous.
Margaret: I'm so sorry about your fall and happy for you that it wasn't worse. :flowerforyou:
Kim: Great photo of the dog and daffodils. It makes me crave spring!
Joyce: The last I heard about Rori's DH is that they did a second surgery and he has clean margins. If I remember correctly, the spot was not going to need grafting. :flowerforyou:
Irish Terri: Your organization is stunning. WTG!
Pip: Lovely fence. :flowerforyou:
DJ: I had a Mc Menamin's cheeseburger and fries, 1,027 calories. :noway: DH had the same, but he also had beer. When we go there we usually split an order and that keeps everything more reasonable. It was fun to see DH calculate and measure out his dinner so that he'd stay within his goal. He is finally working on his weight.
CheriGee: I plan to record the Super Bowl so I can fast forward to the commercials. If Budweiser doesn't have one with Clydesdales I'm boycotting them.
Rori: You are on track. I hope your organizational skills rub off through the internet because I could use a boost.
CJ: Thanks for the saddle suggestions! I will look into them. Having a great horse is a lovely asset, but he had to have help from his rider in order to do well. Don't minimize your contribution to the success. My lesson horse is a "Western Trail" champion but he doesn't show skills that I don't know how to ask for. That is on me and I'm slowly learning. You can teach an old woman new tricks, but it takes time.
Penny: Enjoy your Polar Jazz Festival!
Have a good day today. We're having a day of home tidying. Right now I'm working on laundry. Our next door neighbors have moved and left behind a blue dog poop bag on the garage roof and a shovel full of dog poop in the space between our decks. I sure hope it disappears quickly, otherwise we may send photos. I'm reluctant to do that because I want to keep their friendship.

February Resolutions :
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.
Goals
1. Find a place I can learn to fall without getting hurt once my doctor says it is ok to try.

Kaitlynn will be delayed, I need to wire money to WalMart so she can get a new tire first. But she is coming, and bringing a friend. I'm so excited, I feel like a little kid. This friend is the one who recently lost her boyfriend, so I'm glad that she will be getting back out into the world. I'm so happy ! ! ! More Hugs for Everyone (because I have plenty to share) ! ! !0

CheriGee2~ I have the pledge on a chalkboard in my kitchen and say it every morning before I start the day. It definitely keeps me in the moment, just looking forward. Hope you have a great weigh-in! My meetings are on Wednesdays at 8:30am (I help move tables etc.) then it starts officially at 9:45 until about 11 or so. We do alot of socializing, so we need all that time to get caught up in everybody's business! I lost 1 lb this week.
Lenora~ Your DH sounds like a keeper. I love been tucked in! I shall tell you a secret. Don't laugh now. When I was a small child, really my "first memories", I would rock myself to sleep. It's a hypnotic thing, and yep I still do it, when I am having problems "settling down". And yep, my husband rocks me, (if we are cuddling), its an action I never thought I could ever share been married, let alone my husband condoning it, but he does. I swear by coconut oil and after a bath I use it head to toe. Even put a dab in my eyes! I have yet to "pull" it between my teeth, but have heard sucking it back and forth in between your teeth for a bit, does your gums good. Just don't spit it out into your sink because your sink will clog up. Spit it out into your kitchen trash bin.

Becca, unfortunately I found your 1 pound. But I lost 6 lbs. last week, which was pretty amazing. Not surprised that gained back a little of that. My first gain this year, and I could have done without that. Was happy to be second biggest winner for last month. I love the support of our TOPS group. Making that commitment each week really helps me. Cheri Gee
Great Job with the 6 lb loss last week!!!! I always have a little gain after a large loss. Its like putting a 5 lb weight on a balancing scale. It will go up and down before it settles itself. I think our bodies are like that:-) Yep I do like many of our ladies in our group!
We are doing a contest where we have 4 different groups. Each group is going to a specific destination, like my group is going to Belize. So you have to earn points by, attending meeting, losing, keeping a food journal, exercising, doing a program about birds in your country, or being the featherweight for that week. When you get points you can buy things for the trip, passport, ticket, clothes, guide, guidebook.....so you can hunt for your birds in your country. We even had one ladies neighbor bring a parrot to the meeting. The thing is a lot of the ladies are getting really caught up with learning about birds, so there was not a lot of motivational chatting during the meeting. Don't get me wrong, I like learning about birds, but I need mental tools as well, to get me thru the next week. After about 5 little reports on birds, I put my hand up and said some great sayings that have motivated me.
Our group also does certificates, (frig art!), for ladies in the blue (lost weight), the top weight buddies, the top featherweight for the month. I have a section in my folder with all my awards, nice to browse thru :-)
Have a great rest of the week!
Becca

BECCA, YOUR TOPS GROUP SOUNDS SO MOTIVATED. We aren't doing any contests right now, but over the holidays we did have a blow by blow contest with another TOPS group from our town. It was a real motivator as we wagered $$$, each paying in $2. Unfortunately the other group won, but it was a great way to lose weight. I sure look forward to the meetings each week. A group of us usually goes out for a bite to eat after the meeting and we continue on with the chat and discussion. So far this week, I've had good food choices. Made homemade pea and ham soup on Monday and it's been a great go to filler when I don't know what to eat, or want to make anything new. We have great plans for our family to eat during the Super Bowl on Sunday. We're all football fans and looking forward to the game, and especially the commercials. Cheri Gee
Cheri Gee~Oh its a riot some of these ladies, and the drama....well I can tell you ooogles of drama! I took a "hiatus" of sorts from the middle of Oct. to the 2nd week in Jan. because I was taking things too personal, and getting to wrapped up in the drama of some of the ladies. So I now go with the attitude that I shall get out of it, what I wish to get out of it. I will not take in the drama, but just have fun knowing that most of these ladies are true friends. Realistically you can't be friends with everyone in the world you know, and that is something my mom never did teach me, so I have a problem when there IS a problem. I always think its me, and I need to just do something to make it better. That is my cue to step away now. There is many ladies that do go out to eat afterwards, but I either don't have the funds, or I just want to get home to fix something of my own. Many feel that is their FREE day to eat whatever, but I don't really believe in those, because it takes me so off target. Soup making!!! Oh I love soups, and have some great ones I have created. I will show pics next time. Off to eat a good lunch. Have a great weekend friend!

Can anybody help me? I think I downloaded all my pixs from camera to my laptop. I use Windows Outlook 2013; Windows 10+. Now I can't get the little screen that says 'Drop image/file' actually drop it and the pop-up won't go away. .
Mmmmmm, seems to have inserted it; but, might be too large. But, anyway ... here's my "Cracker". Rat Jack; long legs like Rat Terrier; face of Jack Russell. Not sure where her curling tail around to one side comes from ... parents were just 'slutting around'. She is my 'baby'. DH says that she is just a spoiled, rotten Mama's Baby. Yep, she is ... but he does 1/2 the spoiling of her.

Holy Carb load Friday! I was looking back at yesterday's food choices. I wasn't having a particularly stressful day, but I was tired and felt cold all day, so I think that is why I made some choices that were not that good for me. Potatoes with breakfast, then pasta with lunch, then fried rice with my chinese food. I do allow myself carbs, but I have a list of carbs that I should stick with and none of the above are on my list (potatoes are, but only 2 oz per meal as my only carb). So got up this morning and had my fruit and yogurt and my coffee and got my morning errands/shopping done. Got home and cleaned and prepped my veggies and am cooking up/prepping meals for the week. Feels good to know that I won't be stressing about meals this week. EAsier to make a good choice when they are already "ready to eat". I like food, I like to make and try new dishes; but because I work at home taking care of small children, I am cooking every meal, every day. Eating out is worked into our budget, so it is only a couple times a month. But cooking 21 meals a week takes all of the joy out of cooking. It has become a CHORE! Another thing I have to do in my day. This is why I HAVE to spend a couple hours on the weekend prepping. Otherwise, I would probably eat cereal every night for dinner!
Kimses- I would be interested to see how tapping works for you! I have experience with accupressure and massage/touch point therapy. Tapping seems almost like a mix of these and meditation. I may have to give it a try. A lot of holistic methods do seem kind of "out there", but I have noticed that many holistic medicines and methods involve meditation or brain power. I think our brains are a key to a lot of what ails us. IF we could learn how to use or tap into a little bit of our brain power to heal or help ourselves that would be wonderful!
On that same note; have any of you ladies tried the Essential oil therapies that are SO huge right now? I'd love some input on what you think about that. I am a big believer in aromatherapy as a mood changer/stress reliever.0 -
Aw cutie Cracker pic Lenora!0
-
Pip- The fence looks AWESOME! It's amazing what some one can do with a couple days and a little meth!
So what did you do instead of the gym work out?0 -
Mary from MN- Love your baby oil meme! Thanks for the laugh! Easy on the weights, you don't want to sabotage yourself! Did I read earlier that you were bumping down to 25 instead of 30 lb?0
-
oooh this morning I weighed in at 230.8....just lei-side of 220's. I am so excited. I had a great day yesterday, of eating a nice substantial lunch, then just my sweet carrot meal for dinner. I planned for my piece of chocolate bar for evening snack. The chocolate is called "Endangered Species Natural Milk chocolate 48% cocoa" and the serving size was 1/2 the bar. So I cut it up into bite size pieces and had it with a large cup of yummy coffee. Each sip dissolved a piece of the chocolate in my mouth. Like taking a pill from heaven!! Anyways I enjoyed it immensely!
So I am down .8 lbs. I have been losing a lb a week for 4 weeks now, and could not be happier. It still blows my mind that I am completing this journey without any help. No Jenny Craig, no weight watchers, no cans of slim-fast in the frig, just me and my decisions. That makes me really proud of myself. You can't buy that. It just is what it is. So I am feeling the feelings and sharing it with you all. (((((((thanks for being you all)))))

Lenora- Cute pic of the famous/infamous Cracker! I know how you feel about photo files! I have photos on my phone, and on two different laptops. I need to get a card/thumbdrive and get them all on one place in case I lose files or data.0

Back much worse today. Very difficult night. When anything on my body hurts, I want comfort food and comfort food for me is not healthy. Mac n cheese, hot dogs, sloppy hoes, ice cream, anything chocolate, pizza. Comfort foods are not good. But they are comforting.
Watching PGA golf right now. Our Evansville guy is doing well again but some how he never has a good weekend. He can go from tied for 2nd to last place in a couple of hours.

Janet...prayers to you and your family. I can't even imagine what you are going through.
Mary...what an incredible gesture for your DH to give a kidney to someone who wasn't even family. He is an extraordinary man (even if he is a bit jealous of the attention you give to Shep).
Lisa...finished your book last week (This Little Pig) and enjoyed it. You are very talented and looking forward to the next one.
Penny...lowest weight!! Congratulations!
Teri_mom.good luck to your DD. I'll be looking for her on The Voice.
Kim...Levi is soooo handsome and the daffys make me long for spring. He is very similar to my Jake who is a Brittany.
Lenora...what can I say, cute, cute, cute Cacker.
That's all I can remember but I think of you all.
We got some snow yesterday, not as much as Allison or Kim but it got me out shoveling and burning calories. I took Jake for a walk after the snow stopped, around dusk and the sky was absolutely beautiful, pink and baby blue. The snow was wet and heavy and clung to the trees.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

KJLamore I'll investigate more into tapping. I do love aroma therapy. A little orange oil rubbed between your palms and through your hair in the morning is very uplifting. I had taken a workshop in aromatherapy that explained how bad things like scented candles are for you and the plug-in air fresheners (unless using essential oils) and I stuck with that for a while, but will confess to going back to the scented candles. I will, however, still put oils in the water container on top of our wood stove.
I've used tea tree oil often as well as eucalyptus for colds. Both my kids had little lavender pillows inside their pillow cases.

Hey, ... that was a lot easier than I thought it'd be. Now to wait until she falls asleep on her back. She's hysterical. That and throwing up her toys into the air and catching them. She makes me want to do a "happy dance"; and, she makes my moods improve. Great companion. She talks to us, too! I don't know if I can post a video (with sound) of her 'vocalizations'.
Becca - I went to WW for about a year; never exercised much, and never lost more than 5lbs at the most the entire time. One of the instructors ... skinny really; ... (5' 7 - 5'0"; nor more than 145lbs) never would show her 'before' pictures. She looked 'gaunt'. I've weighed 145lbs before and I am only 5'4" - and I looked gaunt until I put on another 5lbs. I had been Lithium Toxic - almost died ... and it showed. My goal, at the moment, is 150lbs. If I can believe my MD's scales from the other day ... I'm about 158 or 159 lbs. now. But, that might mean that the 'bowling ball' feeling that was pressing on my bladder; and, I've rid my body of it, might just be a different kind of weight. Another one, lost to a good size for her; and, she always had her 'before' and 'after' pictures to show to others. The WW meetings here were pretty cliquish. They kept changing the times and days for the meetings. Then the one instructor that I liked transferred back out of this meeting place to another. Then they really changed instructors around. The days and times just became unworkable for me. If you lost a lot of weight ... maybe you'd fit in. I never could understand the 'new' points system. Now I see they are advertising yet another way to do things with Oprah being the spokesman. Hasn't she already been the spokesperson for one weight loss program before? Started off keeping a calorie count, went to the point system; then, they changed it all up and you had to buy another book to be able to keep tracking it. A lots of drama and it seemed like several that came were the ones they centered around.
Hey, I know about social networking 'drama' on FB - one reason I ended up 'deleting' my account was because of DDnL#1 (next door). She'd post things for all the word to see, yet would not even attempt to have a 'face-to-face' conversation with the 'other' person. She is a big know-it-all. Doesn't understand why people get so mad at her. People really don't want you to take sides in a marital issue ... and certainly don't want you to 'post' opinions and posting on their Wall. Not sure if more can see things depending on settings. Whenever she posted something (if she had become a friend of a friend) ... it showed up on the friend of a friend's Wall. My sister really put her into her place when something that sister did NOT think was appropriate on it showed up all over the place and to HER fiends. After I deleted her as a friend, all I had to do was to go to a mutual friend's wall and read her posts there, if I had wanted to. I made the ultimate decision to 'delete' my account. I tried setting up and 2nd one so that I could start over with making friends. They caught me and closed out both accounts. They want too much 'personal' information to re-open an account and I am not going to send them information that I don't normal give out to others in the first place. So it stays closed. What I miss most are the pictures. Oh well. Maybe the ones I get through my cellphone are enough. At least my DDnL#2 send me pictures of them all the time.
Mmmmm, not here - we have all types and sizes and journeys going along here; and, a lot more encouragement and support. I'm glad that I am on a 'social networking site' that is made up of only other like-minded ladies. I'm so happy that I found this thread. I don't know if any of you have ever gone to some of the others. It was almost being a fish and being trolled ... some of the posting got down-right sexual in nature. I deleted all of them from the ones that I bookmarked. Now I know that the only one that will show up is this one.
Have a GREAT weekend. It's took chilly to go out and the wind might kick up later. Might be having soup tonight. A 'my version' of the WW soup. Becca - please share you recipes for you soups with me. You can send them to my PM ... or I can post my email address to you. I love soup, no matter the weather.

Did a nice cleanup of the inside of the fridge this a.m.-- always appreciate when this is tidied up, probably the way some of you feel about a shiny kitchen sink! I love a clean fridge...
Well dd was a bright shiny star last nite for her senior year in the h.s. musical; she has a lot of stage presence both dh and i dont know where it comes from, but it is a gift to enjoy. Another milestone as we speed towards graduation. I remember what started me on mfp, the goal was to be healthy, fit and trim by her graduation day and i am aware that it is going to be a reality as long as i stay the course!

I could not stand it. It is 40 degrees out and sunny, so I went out in my yard to do some spring clean up- cutting off asters, day lilies, cone flowers, etc. My son was here so he hauled off the huge tree limb that fell a month ago (luckily missing everything important). It felt so good. I think I quit before it would hurt.0

I'm so sorry for what you are going thru, this has also happened to me. My anger got me on the elliptical and I sweated off the horrible feelings rather than eating them. I slowly incorporated other good habits and am now over 40 lbs. lighter, 4 sizes smaller and apparently look at least 10 years younger. Success is the sweetest revenge.

Lenora - It was so great to finally see a pic of your beloved Cracker. I know how important your pet is to you.
Katla - I still think I'm HOT, but I rarely meet anyone who agrees with me! Actually my nice friend does. DH does on a good day.
Enjoyed my sea bass, rubbed with Madras paste, mushy peas and cavolo Nero (kale). Yummo! My local chain sells 3 ×2 sea bass for £10. I decided today was a 4 units day so I am now feeling pretty "fuzzy"¡¿¡¿¡¿¡¿ Only got tv to watch this evening. In Italian. With subtitles.
Feeling good about my on line research for Spain. Will go by train to Cordoba, stay two nights and then get a taxi to Granada. Two nights in Granada and probably a bus to Malaga again. Thank goodness for the internet. What did we do without it!
Right now I think DJ is at the port, waiting to board her ship.
Love to all, Heather UK

Does anybody know how to figure out how many calories are in something you cook, when you don't have the label that gives you this? We have some tamales and we eat about 3 of the at the time. I guess I could weigh them; but, that doesn't do anything about the calories. There made of venison and corn meal. Probably 1/2 or then are corn meal and the other is the venison. I'm not sure how I can make this my recipe. Maybe I need to go to 'my meals' instead. Any help would be appreciated. I know that I save a couple of recipes. It's been awhile since I've done that. I've tried finding something that would be close. Not having much luck.
Fixing to have a fire in the fireplace and watching a movie. Hope the DVD Player won't act up. Keep telling DH to go ahead and buy one. They are relatively inexpensive. Tired of he getting pissed when it sticks (in the best part, usually.0
