They are all tragic, especially when it is someone young. But I would say "Princess Diana." was a huge shock.

A long time ago, but it was Karen Carpenter

Definitely Karen Carpenter, but I also think losing Heath Ledger is very sad, John Ritter was tragic, Patrick Swayze will be missed, and I have to mention the recent death of the legendary George Jones. I am a fan of ALL kinds of music, but Jones was a legend in his own right.

    John Lennon!!!
  • Patrick Swayze, Sobbed my heart out, he was my first crush! He was gorgeous, so sad he's gone. Also Norman Wisdom, loved him while I was growing up and Jon Pertwee, always loved him as Worzel Gummidge. Patrick Swayze broke my heart though.

River Phoenix was the first that truly "affected" me. However, I still have not come to terms with Michael Hutchence, Kurt Cobains, or Adam Yauch.

I don't usually get bothered by celebrity deaths, since they're strangers. Some of them make me feel old.

But John Ritter's hit me kind of hard for some reason. Probably because it shouldn't have happened and was due to malpractice.

I wont count politicians or I would say JFK.

Jim Croce....he was one of my favorite recording artists. But I was more shocked than upset.

  • I've never been upset by a celebrity's death. I don't know them. Why would I mourn for them?

I feel the same way. I may have been a little shocked, but never been upset by a celebrity's death.

Not a celeb but Princess Diana`s death really made me sad

Me too, because I still to this day believe she was killed by her own government. We will never be able to prove it, but I cannot accept the whole "paparazzi accidental car crash" theory. Her "body guard" allowed her to get into a car driven by a man who had been drinking heavily. What body guard allows that????

She was young, beautiful and was trying to do great things in the world. Plus, she left behind two children. Her death was a tragedy because she died due to the" irresponsible behavior" of others.

I know this sounds harsh, but I do NOT mourn the deaths of anyone who dies because of an overdose of drugs or alcohol. They did it to themselves, disease or not. That was the consequence of their actions. Nor do I mourn the deaths of the rap artists who died as a result of being part of the thug world. Live by the gun, die by the gun.

For me, James Gandolfini is dead and I cant believe it.

Just my opinion but him dying of a heart attack was about as shocking as John candy dying of a heart attack.
For me it was Britney Murphy that was surprising and bothered me I don't really know why

Returning to add the name of one of the kindest musicians I have ever had the pleasure/honor of meeting....

    Dimebag Darrell of Pantera. *RIP*

This one really stunned me too. I never got to meet him, but thought he was an amazing artist. Glad I got to see him with Pantera a couple times.

Michael Jackson(I still get upset over it, probably always will)
    Princess Diana
    Johnny Cash
    Davy Jones
    Chris Farley
    John Ritter

I was only a baby when she died, but it still upsets me that Lucille Ball died relatively early for this day in age. I'm a huge fan and have memorabilia all over my house. Never has been and never will be anyone like her!
