'NORAH is the #2935 most common female first name

0.002% of females in the US are named NORAH.

L**** is the #13014 most common last name

0.001% of last names in the US are L****.

Around 2500 people have L**** as a last name!'

When I was younger, I lived in the Philippines, and when we went off base I was always greet with 'what's your name?' When I told them, the person ALWAYS said "Oh! Nora Aunor!!" After a bit of research, I found out that she was what they call a 'Superstar'. When people found out my name, they were excited, and shop owners wanted to give me things. And I got free desserts at restaurants. I was young and it was great,

Then we moved back to the states and that all that went away. When Norah Jones came along, I was pleased to see she spelled her first name correctly. I know the popular spelling is Nora, but to see the 'h' made me very happy. And my name became known again, though not "I'm naming my baby Norah!" type of known. I've obviously heard of other Nora/Norah's, but have never met one.

Now when people would ask my name and then follow up with "Oh, I love Norah Jones!" :/

Anyway, I ultimately hate my name because to me it sounds like an old lady.

First name= #40 I expected it to be more common than that.
Last name=#2083...about 15,000 people. I was a little surprised that it's that common.

Out of curiosity, I wanted to check my dad's name, and it was very rare. That didn't surprise me at all. Apparently, all of my immediate family has uncommon names...except for me. haha

Wow, Andrea is #88. I thought it would be MUCH lower on the list. When I was a kid I only ever met two others. Now that I am much older, there's young Andreas all over the place. My surname, which I didn't have to check, is so rare though that if someone has that name in North America, they are likely related to me.

Apparently I have a very rare name. I personally know 4 people with my name. There was no number for my name

Same here for both my first and surname. Those were just USA statistics though. ;-)

My daughter, Keira, is #4237 with 0.001% of females in the U.S. with her name.
Mine, Dawn, is #105 with 0.202%. That surprised me. Growing up, I never met another Dawn. Recently, I've met several though.

    Cool topic.

I'm a Dawn! I'm English and there was one other Dawn in my school. It's really rare to meet one. When I was at school the most popular female names were Emma, Sarah, Louise.

My son is Jack which has been in the top 5 popular boys names in the past few years. My daughter is Maya which I think is in the top 50. I thought she'd be the only Maya, but now it's becoming more popular.

This isn't up-to-date information because the #1 most common last name is no longer smith. It is Rodriguez. They released a statistic poll about it at the beginning of the year.

#636 Jayne but the more common spelling (Janie) is #336 though I am sure a great number of the Jayne's in the US are pronounced Jane not Janie so I am guessing it is even more rare. I have a common last name. It's #175

#1800 for Kaylee, but there are many, many different spellings. I like that my spelling is simple and yet uncommon.

My last name is even more uncommon (#25069).

Paige is the #681 most popular name. I used to HATE my name because my grandpa called me the little girl with the little boys name. But by high school my 4 best friends also had unusual names so I grew to like it.
