I am new to running and a bit intimidated by some of the mileage here, but I am sure you all started somewhere. i was always told to "run with the best" so I am joining this group for running motivation. I did sign up for a 10K in October and will be following the C210K app.11

@karllundy & @MNLittleFinn You both are silly. But I'm glad that my miles goal can be a benchmark
@WhatMeRunning 200 is so many!! Was I really running that much and more a month ago? It seems a lifetime ago, lol.1 -
@plantobefit @Bellini500 @sarochka85 @Anabbee - There is no mileage here that is too low or embarrassing. We all started from the same "zero". Anything over that number is a win. I think my first month participating here was while training for my first half marathon and I was down for 40 miles that month. I'm not even sure I hit that goal either. But I kept going.

Didn't even come close to my April goal due to craziness. So I'm going for 60km again to see if I can make it!!3

Dear people embarrassed about their "low" goals - I joined last month with a goal of 10km, lol. I made it to 13km, so I'm back and setting myself the super ambitious goal of 25km! I'm in the planning stages of my MA thesis and I'm going to need ways to relax and get away from my desk, plus there's a mini-race in my city in mid-June and I'd love to take part.
I never seem to find the time to hang out on here though. Let's see if that changes when I'm dying for some distraction from my thesis.

60 miles again for me. This will be my fifth month in a row trying to hit 60 but I'm definitely getting closer!5

Just happened to notice that the first day of the month is my scheduled rest day. Hate it when I am already behind on the first day I hit the pavement!
OTOH - there's an extra day this month, so the daily goal is down to 4.35 miles, so bonus!2 -

This. Exactly. And good on you for your 200 mile month!
I have a week off (at least) mid-month, a busy month of school activities for the kiddos, and a trip for my nephew's graduation (but back to the Perkiomen trail, hooray!) so I'm going to stick with my conservative 50 miles and hope for more!

I am just finishing my MA thesis, and this forum is a LOVELY source of distraction and procrastination! Highly recommend!2 -
My training plan calls for appx 94 miles this month. It's also the last month of school - I'm not sure if that will make me run more to de-stress, or run less because of time constraints. I'm going to say that my official goal will be to follow my training plan and hit 94 miles (though I'm tempted to shoot for 100, just to see if I can do it!).3

I am hoping for 60 miles in May.

I'm in for 70 miles this month and if I don't meet it, I'd like you all to hunt me down and drag my backside out of the house to make up for missed miles. I'm so off the bandwagon so I need back on!!5
-
I managed to hit my 80 mile goal for April which I thought was maybe a bit ambitious so I'll stick with it for another month & fingers crossed I make it.(won't cross my toes cos I'll need them!) I've never ran so much without I injuring something before. Lots of good tips & advice here me thinks! Good luck everyone!5

Can i join-i decided this week to train for a 5K on 4th of july-i have never been a runner, i power walk just fine but my hubby does marathons. Any tips are welcome, although i had a bad hamstring tear two summers ago that took almost a year and lots of physical therapy to repair, so i have not gotten back to running(happened when i sprinted to catch up to my husband and teenage daughter)- but i am 10 pounds OVERmy happy wt so thought i need to pick up the pace a bit-- 25 miles or 60 KM for the month of May seems like a good pledge for chilly midwest5

@EPmomdoc All are welcome!! We're happy to have you Where in the Midwest are you from? I'm from Iowa though living now in New Jersey, but there are quite a few Midwest folk around on here!2

Well....any excuse for another trip to England....3 -
Missed my April 140km goal by 16km, which equals 1 or 2 runs so will stay with my 140km goal and stretch would be 160km. Welcome to all the new runners, doesn't matter if it is 10km or 200km you will get lots of positive encouragement and feedback from the gang. Remember some of us have a warped-twisted sense of humour.3

I'm in for May, and beginning with a rest day
If I have a perfect month, I could hit 290 km, but a 270 km goal gives me a little leeway for life... however, I did hit 279.9 km in April, so I think I will split the difference and set my goal at 280 km / 174 miles, to make sure May is a little bigger than April. When I think about it, May should be my biggest month, because I will be tapering 2-3 weeks in June for my marathon on July 3. As long as it doesn't get too cold this month, I think I will be ok. I am already getting up at 4:15 am to fit in runs before work, and if it is cold, I will be whiny and cranky.
@WhatMeRunning - Good luck with your 200 mile goal!
Welcome to everyone who has joined the thread this month, whether your goal is big or small!WhatMeRunning wrote: »@plantobefit @Bellini500 @sarochka85 @Anabbee - There is no mileage here that is too low or embarrassing. We all started from the same "zero". Anything over that number is a win.

I ran 13 miles today... and as of today I have been running for 5 years. Today's 13 brings my five year mileage to 6,700 miles. Very satisfying.14

I'm jumping back in but not setting a mileage goal this time. Injuries, life, blah blah, the goal is to run. Just freakin run. When it feels good, I'll keep going. If it doesn't feel good, I'll only go at least as far as planned. If it hurts, I'll walk. Starting up with swimming again and I should have my new bike tomorrow! So all kinds of cross training. Come on May!!6
-
I'm in for 100, lots of stuff going on this month, family coming town, the significant other coming home for a week for his daughter's graduation, some vacation thrown in, but I'm going to do my bestest! Then again with no track I'll have all kinds of free time LOL2

Only got 35.1 of my 60 mile April goal due to aches and pain. Lowering May goal to 45 and starting with TWO rest days4
-
I'm off to a good start:
1 May – 16.1 km - Distance PB!
Goal: 150 km / 93 miles

Hi - if anyone remembers me I was a part of these challenges last fall. Dropped off in the winter (Dec/Jan? don't really remember) because life and work got really busy and I was having trouble keeping up with everyone's posts and I felt badly about it. I did keep running though and did complete my first marathon at the beginning of April. Since then I haven't done much, so I need to get myself back in gear
I'm not setting a goal this month. Want to get back into the rhythm and then figure out if I want to make a training plan or go with one I find.
Life and work is still super busy, but I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up with what everyone is doing!8 -
Welcome to all the newbies - @plantobefit @Bellini500 @sarochka85 @Anabbee
Welcome back to old friends - @ACSL3 and @PoppetsMaster
Good luck @kristinegift be awesome in your marathon!
Like others I am starting the month off with a rest day but we are heading to the dog beach in the morning so there may just be a short beach run with the pup... it's still recovery - right??4 -
My first challenge! Setting a goal of 75 miles for May.2
