@katharmonic thanks. I'm in the 9th pace group, so it could be a little while before I cross. Last I heard there's about 2000 people signed up, should be awesome.
Not to engage in one-up-man-ship (but, I'm a runner - we ABSOLUTELY do that! ), but my 10K race in 1 week is scheduled to be 60,000 runners. I'm in wave J behind the elites. I'm told it's a life-changing experience to run with that many....

    Is that the Peach Tree?

I ran a race with, I'm guessing, 20-30 thousand in Dallas (RNR). Then a month after ran one that had 8-10. I staged better in the second race. The first, I started too far back and spent near all of the race passing and weaving in and out of crowds. Slower people didn't keep to the sides, it was a little frustrating. But that probably fueled my determination.

@MNLittleFinn , You can pass 2000 people.

Ohh hey all! End of the month game? What's your largest and smallest race?

So many posts to catch up on! I'd like to say Yay! and Congratulations! individually to everyone who has accomplished goals, done well, recovering well, etc but I think that might be impossible - so, YAY to everyone! You're all awesome! So glad I joined this group -- it's so inspiring.

@ereck44 I started MFP in January wanting to lose about 30 lbs. I've been at the middle to low "healthy" range for my BMI for most of my life, but put on weight in the past few years due to a desk job & lots of life stress (accompanied by stress eating, not enough time to work out, not getting enough sleep, etc.) Anyway, I managed to lose about 10 lbs by March, but then fell off the wagon with some more life stresses & put it all back on again. I restarted about 1 month ago now & am back down 5 lbs, with 25 more to go. I only have 2 lbs to go before I'm officially not overweight according to the BMI chart, but I'd like to be at a comfortable healthy mid-range weight. I'm hoping it will help with knee pain also. Congratulations on staying the course & getting down to your goal weight! That's awesome!!

    GOAL MET.

Trying to do a cutback week, so my legs are a bit fresher for next Monday's Peachtree Road Race. Doing just one-a-day, but maybe a hair longer than either of the runs in my two-a-days. This morning, it was 5.22, and that felt about right. Not sure whether I'll try that every day this week or not, but....

With the heat this last week or so, I haven't put in a real "long run" in awhile. I had planned to do a mile-ish warm-up for the race, then the race, then finish out 9-10 miles afterwards, but after the race, I decided, "*kitten* it, it's too damn hot." But the weather is supposed to be just a tad cooler this week, so the morning runs might be a shade more comfy. And the high in Atlanta for Monday is supposed to be only 88 (with scattered showers/t-storms)!!

But it's amazing to me that I've somehow gotten to the point where a 10K doesn't really phaze me mentally (maybe I'm just mental all the time anyway!). I know I can do the distance - it's just a matter of time/pace. If I do a 11 minute mile, I'm okay. If it's better, I'm happier, and if it's slower, I'm mildly disappointed. It's a very different head-space than a few years ago.

6/1 - 5.11 miles on National / Global Running Day! Woot!
    6/2 - 4.55 miles. Gorgeous morning!
6/3 - Pre-HM rest day. Too bad, it is a beautiful morning! So, I am drinking extra water and I ate donuts!
6/4 - 13.3 miles at Dam to Dam Half. It was sunny and hot. Sun was brutal. Running was pretty good, but my splits went up gradually over the final 4 miles. Atmosphere was good pre and post-race. Had fun!
6/5 - Rest day + lots of kids' sports.
6/6 - 4.01 mile "recovery" run. I am not good at intentionally keeping my pace slow. I intended 9-9.5 minute miles.
6/7 - 5.35 miles. Longer than intended, because I didn't plan my route and had to get back home. Oh well, bonus 0.85 mile.
6/8 - 3.3 miles on treadmill, then upper body weights and abs.
6/9 - 4.5 miles on treadmill (Trek class). Cut it a bit short as a pain in my "hip" was causing me to alter my stride. Not sure where it came from, hoping it was just sore.
6/10 - 3.78 miles in the hot, humid weather. It was 73° at 5 a.m.! Again, shortened due to hip pain. Dr. Google says it might be greater trochanteric bursitis. Anti-inflammatories, extra ITB and hammy stretches and a reduction in mileage are in order.
6/11 - Rest day, plus stretches and anti-inflammatory med. Lots of housework though.
    6/12 - Ditto.
6/13 - 3.5 miles, still hot and humid. Again, hip pain started. This time, I stopped immediately.
6/14 - Decided I am going to take a break for a week or two, try to start July fresh. So, today I went to a Bodypump class and then rode a stationary bike. Gonna be sore.
6/15 - Sore! Went light with the weights in Bodypump, still shuffling like an old man. I used to do it 2-3 days a week, but kinda dropped off about 18 months ago.
6/16 - Still sore, but went back to Bodypump and the stationary bike. I miss running :-(
6/17 - Spin Class. It was pretty fun, got to see some of my running buddies at the Y.
    6/19 - Bodypump class...harder at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon than at 5:00 a.m.
6/21 - Bodypump class and a short, ginger 1.5 miles on an indoor track. Didn't hurt, but felt weird. May try a 3-miler later this week.
    6/22 - Rest.
6/23 - Airport, convention center, hotel...didn't manage to squeeze in a workout.
6/24 - 3.3 miles on hotel treadmill, then upper body weights.
    6/25 - 3.2 miles on hotel treadmill
    6/26 - Bodypump class
6/27 - 3.5 miles outside. Tried to keep things flat. Hip didn't hurt, but definitely tight. Saw my PCP today for something else. Discussed hip (he's a runner), he indicated that bursitis or ITB were likely candidate. As I thought, reduce mileage, extra rest, stretching. Plus, strengthening exercises. If not improving / better, see specialist.

Wow, huge races! My biggest so far was the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge which had like 8000 people. It was a zoo, so I can't imagine 20,000 or 60,000!

Met a friend/former colleague for breakfast ata dangerous spot, over ate their yummy yummy food, then rushed to the gym so I could get in a final workout before heading to the ballpark, then to my flight back to Florida this afternoon. Although I started with a quick bike session, by the time I stepped out for my run, my stomach hadn't recovered and I slogged through 4 ugly miles before heading back in for a quick swim.

Glad I knocked off 70 miles on this one week trip up north, as I'll just have 11 miles left to take care of back in Florida over the final 3 days of the month.

    6/1 - 4 miles
    6/2 - 8 miles
    6/3 - 13.5 miles
    6/5 - 13.5 miles
    6/6 - 9 miles
    6/7 - 10 miles
    6/9 - 12 miles
    6/10 - 9 miles
    6/11 - 8 miles
    6/12 - 12 miles
    6/13 - 4 miles
    6/14 - 1 mile
    6/15 - 4 miles
    6/17 - 5.5 miles
    6/19 - 6 miles
    6/20 - 5 miles
    6/21 - 13 miles
    6/22 - 9 miles
    6/23 - 9 miles
    6/24 - 7 miles
    6/25 - 10.5 miles
    6/26 - 12 miles
    6/27 - 4 miles

    Total: 189 miles
    Goal: 200 miles
    Remaining: 11 miles

    Disney Marathon - Jan 6 - 3:29:09

@9voice9 great job on goal. It think that man people in a race would make me nutty.
    @cljoe7 congrats on making goal
Sorry if I missed anyone else at goal, if I did congrats!!

@greenolivetree glad you got a good run in on Sunday, I'm with your hubby don't play with your asthma
    @ddmom0811 enjoy vacation!
@elise4270 I had to laugh at Eric's text, he's a mess. Glad to hear the boy is still putting in the miles - go Alex!
@jessicamcb when the new month comes, I look at a few things, what do I have going on this month and do I have any races. For a long time my goal was 120 miles every month. I got hurt and I'm back to building up. This month I will hit my 100 goal and I'll bump to 110 for July.
@orphia super job on the HM distance, it's it an awesome feeling? When I decided to run a HM I purposely never ran the 13.1 distance so I wouldn't have anything to compare it to, my longest run was like 12 and change. No idea why I did that LOL I even ran the HM course I was going to race at but started up the street from the start, but I make sure I run where I knew the finish line would be. I went over the bridge like Rocky LOL!
@mnlittlefinn as far as socks go I would wear what is most comfortable and if they are moisture wicking you won’t notice your feet better sweaty until you take them off. At least that is how it is for me. Glad the knee is feeling better. Super about the hotel and family support!
@net1968 congrats on your #2 daughter on finishing C25K that is awesome
@ereck44 woohoo weight loss goal met
@ohhim I had to laugh out loud at the 16 min/mi running motion ha ha!!
@ceciliaslater glad the incision is better
@louubelle16 add me to the go to a different doctor and get blood work.

That does sound life changing! My biggest half had about 17,000 people, and my biggest race had about 40,000 registered (though the weather was way super crappy, and I don't think nearly that many people actually showed up to race). I'm looking forward to reading a race update. I'd love to know what you thought about racing alongside so many people!

    Yes sir.

I know someone (used to be on MFP) that is running it this year as well.
Years ago, another runner from my church ran it and he was invited to the front with the elites.
He was the only white guy at the starting line with all the Kenyons around him. lol

@elise4270 the answer to your biggest and smallest race. I've run in a race with as little as 85 people and probably the biggest is 2000.

38.6k so far this month. Not been on it at all with just 1 run per week so as not to fall away entirely. Will get maybe 6-10 in by end of month. Then July I will be back on track.

Work stressful and I think the idea of starting a proper plan with intervals etc put me off so I had pizza and wine instead  . Focus back on racking up the km's then when I am back up to distance I will throw in some speedwork . Caught up with most posts - the folk on here are brilliant, sorry to see some injurys and illness.

10mi floater with 2% grade. (8:54/mi pace) good recovery run.

As for the largest races I've ran, Rock n roll AZ, Vegas, San Diego has like 40k runners +. I'm always in Corral 1 staring at the elites just imagining what it would be like to be one.

Maybe in another life. Or if I can get to 120lb @ 6'0
