Pancakes or Waffles?

Pancakes are light, soft and delicious, readily soaking up syrup while maintaining a smooth surface perfect for butter spreading. They are also easily stacked which leads to better aesthetics and the ability to fit more on a plate.
Waffle are crisp, crunchy and delicious, complete with copious holding cells for superior syrup retention. They are also more readily available in frozen form, lending to the convenience of preparation in a toaster.
Where do you stand on this controversial issue?
*Yes, this thread is a parody.

This is really a tough call. I don't have a waffle maker and the frozen ones have too much sodium, so I'll have to go with pancakes. My dad's waffles made with sprite are something special though!
Really, I just need a product to deliver me the copious amounts of mrs. butterworth's that i require. I've not quite gotten into the drinking it out of the bottle a la super troopers.0 -
Both.

Waffles of course.3

I'm torn.
When I want to spread on crunchy peanut butter.....waffles are best. Maple & PB on a nice crunchy waffle - yum!
But soft, pillowy, blueberry pancakes. Hmmm.....so many fruits. I guess I would have to go with pancakes if I had to choose.0 -
Waffles hold together better as you spread PB and Nutella on them.0

Waffles - good for delivering cream, chocolate sauce & strawberries or fried chicken, bacon & maple syrup.
Pancakes - good for replacement coasters...1 -

Pancakes, no question. I was away for a (long) weekend staying at an inn in Vermont, and they had a choice between the two most mornings. I had pancakes every single one. (They were different types of pancakes -- cinnamon one day, blueberry the next, and almond the third.) I'm not really wild about the texture of waffles, I know this makes me a heretic. (I also don't find that the idea of nut butter on either is appealing at all. Maple syrup or go home.)
The one exception is with the dish chicken and waffles.1 -

I was never a waffle person until we bought a wafflemaker. I waffle everything now.0

Whatever you're making ;-)0

But, @Carlos_421, does it make a difference if they are Oreo waffles/pancakes?!? Serious issues that need answers, man!

Pancakes > Waffles
Also, edited to ask - why is French Toast not included in this debate? B/c then the answer would be French Toast > Pancakes > Waffles.
But really, biscuits and gravy or GTFO.3 -

I make homemade apple cinnamon waffles.

Waffles. Pancakes just pee syrup all over my plate, and i'm too lazy to sponge it back up.1

Waffles over pancakes every time
The way the melted butter and syrup puddles in every dent made by the waffle maker. The crisp crunchy texture is pure heaven on a plate.
Don't get me wrong pancakes have their place, but waffles are much better.

I love doing this:
But I also like doing this:
If I absolutely HAD to choose: WAFFLES!2 -
Either without the syrup. At home I toast Eggo Low Fat and whole grain, I don't make wafflers or pancakes. If I am having breakfast in a restaurant, I will ask for wheat toast unless I can share the pancakes with somebody. I can't eat more than one.0

I'm on team "eggs fried in copious amounts of butter with a side of bacon", personally. I can take or leave the breakfast breads.0

I wasn't ever able to make good waffles at home, until we bought the:
Hello Kitty Waffle Iron.
No kidding. This thing has been with us ten years and still makes evenly cooked little cat head waffles, as well as bunny head waffles. It is, hands down, the best waffle maker we have ever owned.
The ONLY reason I prefer to make pancakes is that I can put all 4 iron skillets on the stove and cook them all faster. Waffles are one by one.
Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, or crepes. Those are my favorites.
So, I'd rather make pancakes, but would rather eat waffles.1 -

I gave my sister a Snoopy one and she loves it.0 -
Pancakes, if they're made with ricotta or cottage cheese or if the waffles in question are standard American thin & floppy wastes of time.
Waffles if they're Belgian. And crispy on the outside. Don't serve me a soft waffle, I'll send that sucker right back.
Oh, and both are so much better with blueberries or strawberries and stabilized whipped cream. Whipped cream on the side, please, so it doesn't melt from the heat.
Maple syrup is reserved for pork sausage. Nice, spicy, pork sausage.0 -
I've only recently discovered that I can make pancakes in my toasted sandwich maker, and I've been eating them ever since! In the UK we only usually have pancakes once a year, on Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), so I feel quite rebellious eating them other days ;-)
These ones are blueberry pancakes, with maple syrup and Greek yoghurt (also known as triangles of heaven).

Pancakes pancakes pancakes. Homemade, thin, and tender. Spread with butter, then sprinkled with sugar. Rolled up and eaten by hand. Or possibly spread with butter, rolled up, then dipped in real maple syrup.
What was the question, again? Something about how pancakes are the best breakfast food ever, right?0 -

All I know is that I need these in my life.1 -
Liege waffles, hands down.
Damn things have 800 calories or something though.1 -

Because that question is: French Toast or Cinnamon Rolls?
And of course, all of these are just breakfast desserts for after eating the biscuits and gravy (and bacon and eggs and sausage).1
