@trooworld The pot luck sounds like fun. Hopefully you were able to eat some of the food. I find those kinds of meals a bit tempting, like going to a buffet. @cbabie It looks like you are trying to eat better. Find a routine that works for you. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had leftovers from last night for dinner. Did any of you see that Weight Watchers is filing for bankruptcy? More like a chapter 11, a reorganization. It seems that they owe a lot of money and the value of stock is way down. Not sure what happens next.

@trooworld That was good that you didn’t see food you liked. Also that shows that you are discriminating in what you eat. Hi, all. I rode the bike today. DS was off today and went grocery shopping with me. He has made Caesar dressing for our salads. I have baby potatoes in the air fryer and he’s grilling some salmon.

Hey all, I've been MIA…..I decided to take this week off work, which is nice, but haven't been doing great with tracking calories or anything like that unfortunately.

I'm back at work on Tuesday, and so I was trying to also set that as the date to start my goals again. In Jan I set monthly goals, did weekly weigh ins, and that worked better for me, so I am working on that. I did a weigh-in on Wed to start.

Other than that, I went back to the yoga class again and it was better the second time, no pain. I tried to walk a bit more this week- but still caused some pain, but not as bad as before. So very slowly getting better. I'm optimistic.

Taking it easy this weekend, tomorrow I'm going to a little fruit shop and bakery to pick some things up. Not sure what else I'm up too! Today I will go for a bike ride.

Morning all, Yesterday was a food bust day..went to the movies with baby girl for the first time in many years..ate too much candy. But I did get on my bike and work out yesterday. so all is not lost. LOL

@trooworld Yeah on the weight lost. So glad you weren't tempted on your pot luck lunch. I would say you are doing great!!

@fabgeekmom Oh you baby potatoes sound delicious, do you put any seasoning on them? I didn't hear that about WW, it's sad as they have been a stationary in the weight loss world for years. They did help me to learn how to eat better.

@its_cleo I think your plan sounds good. You know what motivates you. Enjoy your weekend.

@trooworld Good job on the weight loss. Slow and steady is good and also sustainable. Enjoy the coffee shop and the broccoli salad. @its_cleo That’s good about the yoga and walking. If you do something often it gets easier. Good luck on your plan. @cbabie I just sprayed the potatoes with cooking spray and added salt. 15 minutes at 400. Too bad about the candy, but you enjoyed it so move on. I don’t think WW is completely going away. I think it’s mostly a reorganization. I wonder if low profit meetings will close. That’s what happened the last time they did that. Hi, all. Today’s a swim day. We are eating at my cousin’s house tonight. She’s having a special Passover meal with all the ethnic foods we like. I’ll try to eat in moderation.

@trooworld Your day sounds like fun. I hope you enjoy the cultural event and don’t get lost. It’s good that you only ate a little bit of the dish your husband made. You are really good at limiting portions. Hi, all. I enjoyed the meal and family time. I did eat more that I should have even though I did limit portions. All was okay as orcas a holiday meal. It’s warm today so I will go for a walk. I need to go to the grocery store to get some fruit. Tonight we are going to an Italian restaurant. I like it as it is locally owned and not a chain.

Morning all, I didn't get anything done yesterday. My oldest daughter came over and cleaned my kitchen cabinets for me. That was nice. Otherwise not much going on. Today, wanting to get on the bike again, (It turned cooler and windy here). Then coloring eggs with the kids and we will see what else they want to do.

@fabgeekmom I like supporting the local food places. I hope you enjoy! I need to go get milk..LOL the kids drink it a lot.

@trooworld I hope you enjoy all the fun things you have planned fo today! We went to King of Kings. She liked it. L

@trooworld Nice pictures! It was good that you made a new friend. The octopus salad sounds good. No one in my family would eat it so that’s the kind of food I would order at a restaurant. Hi, all. My cousin and her husband, my daughter, her husband and daughter are eating Easter dinner with us. DS has already made a strawberry cake based on a recipe in ATK. I tasted the frosting last night and it was delicious. DD is bringing potato salad and my cousin is bringing salad. DS will make ranch dressing from ATK and grill some chicken. I made a homemade barbecue sauce with catsup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard and molasses. It is really good and not as sweet as store bought.

Hey all- ok back to work tomorrow but trying to get back into routine today. It feels a little rough, bc I’ve been pretty lazy lol.

    @trooworld my goals are:

-track calories at least 6/7 days; stick to my calorie limits (and if I go over, then limit how much I go over); do my physio exercises 3x a week; weigh in every Wed

Those are the main ones. I’m working on other things but those are the ones I’m trying to really track and stick to.

Those pictures look great! Looks like a fun day. With your knee- I’m sure it’s nice to see some real progress and change.

@cbabie colouring eggs sound fun. There are a lot of Ukrainians in my neighbourhood and they make nice Easter eggs, I think I saw some for sale.

@fabgeekmom sounds like a great dinner, I hope you enjoyed the time with your family.

I have to figure out some meals to make today, but I’m not sure what lol.

Morning all, Easter was okay. It just didn't feel like Easter to me. I cooked ham (which I don't eat). Just played with the kids and watched TV the last 2 hours of the night. Kind of a lazy day for me. I was going to exercise this morning , but DH has a massive headache so he can't watch the baby for me So waiting for that to turn around. LOL

@fabgeekmom Your dinner sounds yummy! So glad you had a nice Easter.

@trooworld Wow you had a very adventurous day! I am so proud of you that you can walk without pain now. How different your life is. Yes that was wonderful of my daughter. LOL Then the baby who is honorary had goo on his fingers and wiped right across my cabinet. He is non verbal, so all I could do was say no we don't do that, get a towel please…and clean the cabinet. again. LOL

@its_cleo your plans sound good and doable. I bet those eggs are beautiful. Enjoy your day and hopefully your first day back to work went smooth and non stressful.

@trooworld Your day sounded wonderful. It’s great that you can walk without pain. @its_cleo Your goals sound doable. Getting started is the first step. You can do this! @cbabie I’m sorry your day didn’t go as well as you wanted it to go. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We’re eating leftovers tonight. I’m glad I don’t have to cook. Tomorrow morning DH is having his other eye surgery. We have to be at the surgery center at 6:30 AM which means we have to get up at least an hour prior as DH has to put eye drops in before going. DS is taking us.

Morning all, I got my 30 min exercise in yesterday, ate pretty well and am going to try for day 2. LOL. My exercise had to be broken into parts as I could not find 30 min by itself to do them. LOL. I almost closed all 3 circles on my watch. I always get my stand circle just not the rest. I got 2 out of 3..so improvement.

Tonight I am going to ask DH to cook chicken on the grill, it's my favorite.

@trooworld I am glad you are taking off on Monday, that sounds like so much fun and relaxing!! As a Mary Kay person, I understand the routine and even me myself can't always do my night routine complete. I wish I had done better when I was younger..my dear sister got the good skin my grandma and dad had..me I got my moms alligator skin.

@fabgeekmom I hope and pray surgery goes well. I am not sure I could have my eye operated on. He is very brave. I am finicky. LOL Glad that you have your son there to help. We had left overs last night. I am glad I was too tired to cook. :)

@trooworld love halloumi. One of the best recipes I got from HF was a halloumi soup with sweet potato. I'm also terrible at skin care. I do wash my face, I'm trying to use moisturizer more.

@fabgeekmom I hope the surgery goes okay, sending good thoughts to you both.

@cbabie I've been doing the same thing, split my physio exercises.

I tracked yesterday and today, except today I made a spicy mayo to go with dinner (I tried to make a beef ban mi kind of thing)- I didn't track the mayo exactly, just guesstimated.

First day back at work and it was slow but I still feel beat.

I do feel proud of myself though bc I have a parking spot I own with my condo sitting empty and I've never rented it- I just get too anxious. But I saw a notice for someone looking for a space, so I reached out, and we agreed on price, did up an agreement. So that's a bit of extra money every month. Hopefully there won't be any issues. He seemed like nice person, and he lives in the complex here.

@trooworld Your meals sound good. I hope you have fun with your new friend. I don’t do anything special for my skin except moisturizer on my face and lots of lotion after I shower. I do wash my face with baby shampoo, especially my eye lids. A dermatologist told me to do that many years ago. @cbabie Good job on your exercise and your improved eating habits. @its_cleo Good job on tracking. Sometimes we have to guess as it’s not possible to always be exact. That was a good idea to make some extra money from the parking spot. Hi, all. The surgery went well. He was sedated and didn’t feel anything. I’ll probably have to have the same surgery. Almost everyone gets cataracts and no wants to have impaired vision. Dinner tonight was ham, green beans with tomatoes and biscuits. Our daughter and her family ate with us. We have leftovers for dinner tomorrow night.

Morning all, Didn't end up exercising yesterday. Had so many urgent projects, it just didn't happen. The difference between men and women? I was vacuuming yesterday and trying to get the playroom and living room done real quick. My DH says you going to do the bedrooms? I said no that's your job..well he later told me not to put up the vacuum as he had to sweep the garage. I said what about the bedrooms? "I have to sweep the garage." Well that's his priorities. LOL I am trying to figure dinner out rn and can't. Nothing sounds good…LOL. This is when I wish @fabgeekmom lived next door..LOL

@fabgeekmom glad you DH surgery went well. Yes I guess we will all need that someday. I keep having my checked as my night driving is getting harder. LOL Interesting about the baby shampoo. I had never heard that. But at least you know its gentle for your skin. makes your face feel as soft as a baby.

@trooworld You are probably more active than when you first had surgery. You would need to increase your calories. It's great you are seeing the dietician and can ask and then no for sure. I used to go to sleep thinking about work..so glad I don't, but I had a weird graphic icky dream last night. Not sure why or what it meant. Just glad its over. I usually don't dream things I remember. LOL

@its_cleo Smart move increasing your income by something you already have and are not using. I am sure it will be great with no issues. LOL I had to read your first sentence twice. (I speed read). I thought you made halloumi soap with sweet potato, and I thought ucky…then I read reread and saw SOUP.LOL

@trooworld The calorie count sounds good although you’ll feel better about it when you talk to the dietitian. @cbabie That’s too bad about the exercise but you do burn calories from vacuuming. Hi,all. Today was a swim day. DH is doing better. We both had a good night’s sleep. I ate the last of the chicken for lunch today. Tonight we are eating ham. I’m making a salad and polenta.

@trooworld I’m sorry you had a bad day. Hi, all. Not much is going on. I went for a walk after breakfast. DS is off today and is grilling chicken along with pickled carrots and hummus. He makes his own hummus which is really good. We’re going to Sam’s to get chicken and some other stuff.

Hi everyone. I live in Australia, and have done WW at least a few times over the last 20 years. I had a lot of success with WW a long time ago, but struggled to lose weight when they introduced all the zero point foods. I’m now just doing mfp. I have about 115 pounds to lose, or 52kg. I started mfp about 2 weeks ago. Nice to meet you all.

My last big weight loss journey I lost about 65 pounds, or 30kg, but unfortunately over several years gained it all back plus a little more. I am pre-diabetic, so really need to lose the weight. I’m 47 years old, and work in a very sedentary job. Looking forward to reading the posts from this group :)

Hi and welcome @mh7816 ! A lot of tried WW and then just do MFP. I’m 48, from Canada. Tracking is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

@fabgeekmom glad the surgery went well. I had my eyes checked last year and they said it was fine ‘for my age’ lol. Not sure what that means, but I have a hard time reading the small text on things now.

@trooworld the thing with skin care is it’s good to do, but then I feel a lot of products don’t really do anything. That’s odd about the parking spot being shared, that would stress me out. I hope you find some pants you like!

@cbabie lol I heard men like vacuuming bc they like using a machine. I guess it’s a stereotype. My place doesn’t have a lot of carpet, and I’m glad but it’s just endless sweeping instead.

I’m doing ok with calories. Wed was my weekly weigh in and my weight was down, hasn’t been down in a month so nice to see the tracking is making a difference.

I saw the physio Wed. I’m only going once every two weeks now. He game me another exercise to do and told me to increase weights on the others. There are 5 exercises total, 4 for hip/glute muscles- like all the muscles around the hip joint- and 1 core. I tried today and holy smokes it’s a lot. It takes me an hour and 15 mins on a good day, if I was tired and needed more breaks it would be longer.

But I’m really trying hard to be diligent and push myself. Trying to squeeze in some bike rides if I have the energy.

The weather is finally getting nicer.

Morning all, not much new going on here. It's been so nice out. I wish it could stay like this and not get so hot, but it's better than snow. LOL.

@trooworld LOL on the pants, isn't that just life? Good luck with the repair. I hope it's a quick one. I feel so bad for you guys, you have had so much trouble with that one area. Glad your boss is okay. Yay on the loss, I would take that rn LOL. I haven't gotten on the scales, too afraid to!

@fabgeekmom I have never tried pickled carrots. Does it make them a little sour? Yea on your walk.

@its_cleo Good job on continuing your exercises. I know you will love yourself in the end. I know my Physical Therapy on my knee took me an hour to do. I have to get back to those too…don't want to lose what I have gained. LOL

@mh7816 Welcome to our corner of the world. Yes I think the zero points hurt us. It's still about what you put in and what you work off. LOL. I used to work a very sedentary job too, (retired now) I think that's why l worked out in the mornings as I was too tired from sitting all day in the evening. Everyone is different, my boss couldn't workout until after work. (she likes to sleep) LOL I am so glad you are here!! This place is a safe place and we are here to encourage each other.

@trooworld That’s good that your pants are too big! You seem to be losing at a moderate rate. It’s all good! I hope the repair goes well. @mh7816 Welcome to our group! I agree about the 0 point foods. Tracking calories is more accurate. You can do this! @its_cleo Good job on the tracking , weight going down, and doing the physio exercises. @cbabie It’s nice that the weather is warmer but not too hot. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had steak tonight with salad and mashed potatoes. DS made the mashed potatoes and they were so good. He doesn’t trust me to make them. Ha! Ha! I don’t mind.

Hi everyone. I’m not sure how to tag people- do you just type their name with @ before it? Or is there a shortcut? It’s nice to read about you all.

Are you all from the US, except for @its_cleo, who is from Canada? Sounds like you are all heading towards summer, where here in Australia it’s almost winter. Thank goodness, because Australian summers can be quite unbearable!

I’ve been back on mfp for 16 days and have lost 4.4 pounds in that time, most of it in the first week. My goal is to lose 1 pound a week, but I know that won’t be easy. I’m not exercising yet due to pretty bad back pain, but hope to go back to it eventually.

  • fabgeekmom
    fabgeekmom Posts: 987 Member

@mh7816 Yes, to tag someone, use @ plus the username. Good job on the weight loss. You can lose weight without exercising. Then when you can exercise do what you can do. A little about me: I live in the USA, in Virginia. I was on Weight Watchers but couldn’t lose weight. My doctor suggested My Fitness Pal as many of his patients had lost weight on it. I lost about 9 or 10 pounds and have kept it off except for about 2 pounds that I lose and gain. I have learned to eat what I like in moderation. @trooworld That’s too bad about the jacket but it looks like you got a good deal on another one. It must be stressful having dogs when the handyman comes. It looks like you have a fun day planned. Hi, all. It’s warm again here so l will go for a walk. First I’ll walk with DH as he doesn’t walk too much and then I’ll walk with a Peloton workout playlist. DS is grilling salmon tonight for family dinner with my daughter, her husband and her daughter. We do family dinner on Tuesdays and Saturdays and then go to her house on Sunday.

Morning all, same as yesterday, not much here going on. I will let you know that I had a total melt down yesterday and got into some candy and binged. It made me feel awful. For some reason I was struggling with depression..but over it today and excited to start my day. My DH finally planted some flowers in my back yard so when I sit here at my desk I can see them. I also bought a squash plant and bell pepper plant. I am trying my hand at growing that. We will see.

@trooworld I love what you and your boss are doing…how FUN! Oh I hear you on the Condo, I would hate to pay rent right now. Since covid it seems the rent skyrocketed. No matter what you live in, time will eventually show in your residence. Things just don't last like they used to. LOL. My grandson is graduating HS in June and talking about what to get him, I told my daughter my mom got me the dishes I still use 50 years later. LOL ( I was getting married right after graduation). LOL

@fabgeekmom I love that you and your kids get together for family dinner so much. LOL My daughter text me the other day and told that Prince died that day so many years ago, so she knew what music she was working out with that day. I laughed, it reminded me when you said you were taking your second walk with a Peloton workout playlist.

@mh7816 Yes we are going into summer, I live where we get up to 120 at times. So I am enjoying what we currently have which is high 80's low 90's. LOL Good for you on your weight loss. I want to also lose 1 lb a week. I won't do it if I ate like I did last night. LOL. I reached my WW goal without exercise, so yes it can be done. I think exercise just helps us tone our body and keep our joints moving! So glad you found us.

@cbabie. That’s too bad about the candy. Eating certain foods releases dopamines that sort of gives us a rush. That’s why it’s so hard to give up those foods. Hopefully you can find something else to ease your depression. I’m sure the flowers help. DH planted tomatoes and winter squash. 120 degrees is really hot! That’s funny about the dishes. Things were made to last back in the day.

  • mh7816
    mh7816 Posts: 10 Member

@cbabie Wow 120 degrees is really hot! We get temperatures up to about 114 where I live, but thankfully not too often. Sorry to hear you were struggling with depression. I binge eat sometimes too, but usually on fast food as opposed to sweets. I can only imagine how many calories I would eat on those days!

@trooworld I agree renting is very expensive, so it’s good you own your own place. I rent and my friends have commented my rent is much higher than their mortgages! Losing 52 pounds since December is a lot - sounds like you’re doing very well with your weight loss.

@its_cleo Do you do your exercises every day or less often, like a couple of days a week? It sounds like a lot, but it must be very good for you. I saw a physio a long time ago for a problem with my knee, and he gave me exercises for my back pain, but I never really did them. I should have but I didn’t quite understand the explanation and I guess I wasn’t convinced stretches would fix my back. Although my back pain was far less when I was a healthy weight, so hopefully I will lose a lot eventually.

@fabgeekmom When you say you use a Peleton, do you mean a treadmill? I know they make exercise bikes but I don’t know what else they make. I agree that it’s nice your family gets together for dinners. My only family is my brother, who I visit once a week, and my mother, who is in an aged care home. I visit her once every two weeks, because she is very far from where I live, and I don’t drive.

I’m doing okay. Back to work tomorrow after a week off for holidays. I have to be careful not to turn to junk food when I get stressed from work. Stress is a big trigger for me to eat too much. I will try to be good and make sure I write down everything I eat.

  • its_cleo
    its_cleo Posts: 732 Member

@cbabie aw a binge once in a while happens to all of us. With me, it’s chips and dip. I almost bought some yesterday. I feel like the occasional splurge if we’re feeling down or stressed is ok. Sometimes we just need to get through the day.

Wow 120F that’s a lot. I’m not sure summer is ever going to come here. Right now it’s 7c, or 44f

@fabgeekmom that’s interesting about food and dopamine, I didn’t know that. Well, I think I heard that for spicy food.

@mh7816 I do the exercises every other day- or I try to. My hip is messed up- last fall I somehow had a soft tissue tear- it’s called a labral tear. And gluteal tendinopathy, which happened at the same time. It is very slowly getting better. …I expect for sure less weight would help your back and joints. Physios- I’ve had good ones and bad ones. This is the second one I tried, he is better than the first. I’ve had a lot of overuse injuries in my life- that is what this injury is. …Stress is a killer for me too with food. – Tagging – I just do bold bc sometimes it doesn’t work. – C ongrats on the weight loss!

@trooworld sucks about the jacket. I hope you’re having a good weekend.

My weekend has been quiet. I have to do my physio today, and then just housework and watching baseball, until the Jays start losing anyway lol. It’s sunny here today which is nice.

Not sure what to do for lunch. I’m tempted to get take out- there is a Mexican brunch place nearby that does nice quesadillas, but it would be more calories. I want to make a sweet potato salad for tomorrow.

@mh7816 I use the Peloton app that my daughter shares with me. She has the bike. I have a recumbent bike. I also use the app for walking outside. I do exercises every morning for my hips. I broke my femur a few years ago and I still do the exercises. I think they help. I’m curious as to what holiday you celebrate in Australia. @its_cleo A quiet weekend is nice. I’m glad the exercises help. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. We have one piece of salmon leftover for lunch today. I’m lazy this morning and have been working crossword puzzles and drinking coffee. I’ll do some kind of exercise and then of course, dinner at my daughter’s house.

@trooworld I forgot to respond to your post. We have so many on the platform. It’s nice! The book crawl sounded like fun except I would hate the crowds. I think I read the middle book. The art thing also looks like fun. That was a good idea to order pants online. I hate trying on clothes at stores.
