@Tamevv That's great you've been doing strength training. I love ST! I know it doesn't burn as many cals as cardio but it is so good for you. I am glad you are feeling a bit better. Enjoy the time with your parents. I was doing so well with water and then went on my work trip. I hope your new bottle helps you. Thank you, Daisy "seems" okay but I don't know that she is. We are giving her the meds and hoping they will help. You are right about the dentist lol: I just had a smoothie for dinner and it paid off on the scale!
Hi all. Well my water sucked yesterday but I didn't want to drink a lot of water and then be in the dentist's chair for 2 hours and not be able to go lol. So, I didn't drink anything. After the dentist, I was not in the mood for consuming anything but I did make myself a smoothie that was good. At the dentist, they gave me laughing gas (nitrous oxide) to make me more comfortable. I hadn't had that since I was a kid! It was a nice "trip" lol. I wasn't bothered at all by all the water flying around, the grinding, nothing. Which was good. After the treatment, they give you oxygen to take away the effects of nitrous oxide. It was amazing how I felt normal after just 10 minutes of oxygen.

I'm here. I finished my first week of my new meal labels. It's been very helpful. Switching from carbs to calories has been a bit of a struggle because alot of my eating habits are around eating things like cheese and meats. They do not fit into my green foods category at all. In the past I could have a whole meal of chicken strips and nothing else and be satisfied. Do chicken strips have alot of vitamins and minerals? No. So I have been using this past week as a baseline. Making notes to see what I can change but also how to keep some of my favorite foods in. So I've been looking at my red foods list at the end of the day and ask how can I tweak this. For instance Fridays have always been Pancake Fridays since my kids were little. Well now pancakes seem to be a red food. So I figured out if I just eat one pancake and get myself a bowl of bran flakes with skim milk, I made breakfast a 60% green food breakfast instead of a 100% red food breakfast and saved me 100 cals. So that's what I'm doing right now is looking for ways to "Eat This Not That" as the book says.
I finally hooked up my Apple Fitness+ and have done 2 days of workouts with them. I got 3 free months with my new watch. Still trying to figure it all out.

Morning all, (well all that is here) LOL. I went to the Chiro yesterday and he is concerned about the amount of pain I am still feeling..however, if you were lifting a 20lb lug all day...LOL. I did track and I was for sure over my calories and everything...but again I get up and say today I will make better choices.
@trooworld hope the teeth appt is quick and painless...my middle child just had all teeth extracted and we are in the second week and some things are going back to normal...so I pray yours in done an over and you get to enjoy good food quickly.
@Tamevv I am reading 2 books on mindset..I hope I learn something from each of them. I always heard my whole life growing up...the apple doesn't fall from the tree and it never meant anything good...even though my mom believed mind over matter...but the genes just couldn't be helped. I am trying to say maybe that is true for some things, but not all things.

@theslightedgeforever Good to see you. I'm glad the new meal labels helped you. You are a true scientist in your methods! Congrats on the new Apple watch, I've heard good things about them (although I am a Samsung gal).
@cbabie Yeah I'm sure lifting those kiddos doesn't help your back. Thanks for your good thoughts. I have about 2-3 weeks before the permanent crowns come in and I can eat normally. That's a long time to go without sticky foods lol.
Hi all. I'm going on a weekend adventure today: going 2 hours away to meet a cousin I've never met. I was contacted on Ancestry.com by his wife's aunt and told about our relationship. His mother, my aunt, died on Christmas (I've never met her, either) and I'm going to my cousin's BBQ today and then my aunt's celebration of life party tomorrow. I will meet several cousins on my biological father's side. I've never had any contact with any of them, so this might be super weird but it could be cool. My husband is going with me.

@cbabie Let's think about that thought "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"....I'm about as far away from that tree as possible. Don't you think? So I think that would be an assumption and not a fact. As rules were meant to be broken, molds were meant to be broken. Have you made better choices today?
@trooworld I am getting used to my new watch. Still trying to figure out the shortcut to the timer. I used that on my Fitbit a lot. Today my vO2 Max level showed up as LOW which is the worst level I I can get. I thought at least below average. I wonder how accurate these watches are. As data, I will just think of it as data and try and improve to the next level up. So I've been looking online for plans to increase that number. I know I have problems with my lungs so I'll work hard on that. Plus my blood oxygen levels have been low on some nights while I sleep. I'm going to get about 3 months of data and then show it to my cardiologist and see what he thinks about this. That gives me 3 months to lose weight and exercise and get those numbers up. How exciting to meet a cousin you haven't met before. I met a great uncle online and then he got me interested in Ancestry.

Hi @theslightedgeforever 👋
I’m on the silly elliptical as I type. Begrudgingly. (Not the typing - the exercising). Sleep is poor, water is low, food is bad, but I’m still exercising and today is another chance to turn a corner. I know I’ve said it before but if I can get through Friday this week (for work stress) and Tuesday next week (for visitor shenanigans), theoretically I should have no more excuses. I really want to take some time to plan meals this week. That is my goal for today. And water 😊0 -
@theslightedgeforever That's good you are getting used to your watch. I'm still learning about mine (Samsung Galaxy watch 5). I got it about 5 months ago. I love it, it's just there is a lot to learn. Yeah I wonder how accurate they are, too. I bet there are studies. That's a good idea to show the data to your cardiologist. It was a very cool weekend, more later. That's great you got to meet an uncle. Tell me what your 27/35% and 16/35% green foods mean.
@Tamevv You are hanging on, that is good. Did you plan the meals yesterday? And how was your water? Mine was awful.
Hi all. I had a great weekend meeting my cousins. They are wonderful people. We had a lot of fun. I hope to spend more time with them. I didn't track anything and I sure as heck didn't drink enough water. But I'm back today.
Water yesterday: 12 oz

Morning @trooworld - I didn’t get to meal planning but water was pretty good although I didn’t track it. Food was also pretty good. Will make an effort to track today. Am about to do a step/strength session. It’s awesome that you got to meet the extended family (and even better that you liked them 😉). Really happy for you 😁0
-
@Tamevv Morning! Sounds like you had a pretty good day there. Thank you, I have never really felt like part of the family I grew up in so it was a big deal to feel like I fit in somewhere this weekend.
Hi all. I took the day off work yesterday, my stomach was feeling a bit wonky and I just was so tired. I'm feeling better today. I have to take Daisy back to the vet today to take x-rays to see if the medication has helped with the fluid in her lungs. I hope it has.
Water yesterday: 25 oz

Morning all, Sorry I have had life and Dr appts. breaks my routine..LOL. I just asked baby girl, what are you going to eat for breakfast? It's important..today she says childrens bread. I said what is that? Well turns out it's "Garlic Texas Toast'. LOL. I wish I were still a kid.LOL. I am overwhelmed with what I need to do for my health, but one thing at a time.. I know this and moving "has" to be on the top of that list.
@trooworld I really never cared about meeitng my relatives...my sister yes she does. LOL. I am glad you had a good time. Hope the meds worked for Daisy.
@tamevv. hang in there. you are still putting the effort and it shows.
@theslightedgeforever Now I know what gene stayed in this family..rules were meant to be broken? LOL yes I wonder about the data, but you know data is data..so you are using it to your advantage and that is a good thing. Someday I will be disciplined like my little sister. LOL
cbabie0 -
@cbabie Oh my gosh, baby girl is hilarious! LOL Moving is at the top of my list, too. I know what I need to do, I just need to DO IT. Taking one step at a time is the way to go. Yeah, I know some people just don't care about meeting relatives and that's okay. One of those people that don't care to meet me is my half-sister on my biological father's side. I messaged her on Facebook on Sunday and haven't heard back from her. That's fine, I've got my cousins and it's her loss!
Hi all. I took Daisy to the vet last night and he did x-rays and said that the medication is working and there is a lot less fluid in her lungs. But that revealed a couple of problems: she has a mildly collapsed trachea and one of her ventricles is enlarged. We need to go to the specialist and get an echocardiogram done on her to see what is causing the fluid before we address the other problems. I'm sad and worried.
On the health front, I drank over double the amount of water as the day before. I need to start tracking again. I don't know why I am resisting it. Actually, I do: because all of the food I eat is recipes and it's a pain to put recipes in my tracker. But I need to get over that and DO IT.

Afternoon, well I have felt terrible all day. I think its the medicine the Dr put me on. I will give it a couple of days and then call to see if maybe I can take it at night and not in the AM. Otherwise all is the same here. Well it's cold (see your breath cold) here and raining..UGH.
@trooworld so sorry you found more things with Daisy. I feel that way with all the Dr appts I have been having..LOL Well I have to agree with you on the recipies..maybe that is why I don't track when I have something new.. LOL. Sitting here watching Shrek for the 4th time this week...and it's only Wed..

@cbabie I hope you can work out the medicine, it's not good to feel terrible all day. Oh that's too cold! It was raining here yesterday too, it actually hailed at one point. Thanks. And I'm sorry about your findings as well. Yeah and I don't like to repeat recipes very often so I'm constantly type type typing on my phone, adding recipes. Shrek is good for the soul lol.
@gemwolf110 Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
@theslightedgeforever How's your new method going?
Hi all. I actually tracked breakfast and lunch and my snack yesterday. I didn't track dinner because, well, it was a custom recipe. But that's a start and I will take the time to track completely today. I did not do that well with water yesterday, I was very busy at work and it just sort of fell by the wayside. I've been depressed about Daisy. I shouldn't look up things on the internet but I did and her outlook is not very good.
Water yesterday: 40 oz
My phrase for the year: "Every choice is another chance to change my health for the better."0 -
Afternoon all, Well I didn't do well emotionally yesterday or this morning. However, since I am older I can't stay in bed depressed too long...I went to the Chiropractor today and told him how I was feeling and we discussed how to move forward to my healing. I like this guy and feel God put him in my life. I am trying each day to do it better than the day before. I am still working on my exercise and I am not exercising..LOL My back has hurt so bad it hurts to walk...but I will try to do more today.
@trooworld I am sorry you are depressed about Daisy. I am not an animal lover, but I know you and many others are. They are a companion who doesn't talk back..LOL. Seriously Hopefully this is just minor things that happen along the way and she will be a great companion for a very long time for you. I hear baby boy crying..I think I am just going to ignore. LOL. You made me laugh about the dinner being a new recipe so you didn't track..I am so boring with food, one of my grand daughters told me she was going to get me some new recipes.. GOOD LUCK I tell her.. . You and my sister like to look up on the internet and yes we should not, but I can hear her say forewarned is forearmed.
Cbabie0 -
@cbabie I'm sorry about your day, big hugs to you. That's great you like your chiro doctor. I am doing the same about exercising lol. My back is not hurting and I have no real reason to not exercise. I just need to do it. Thanks about Daisy...yes, she is my little princess, I love her so much. I hope you are right. Yeah, if it's a new recipe, it's a pain in my behind lol. I wish I could be like that with food, it would make tracking a lot easier! That's exactly how I feel (forewarned is forearmed!).
Hi all. I gained about 1 1/2 lbs this week, no surprise considering I haven't been doing anything I should be doing. But as my signature here says, every choice is another chance to change my health for the better. I intend to make better choices today. I tracked about 75% of stuff yesterday (it would have been 100% but we changed what we were doing for dinner and I had already tracked it). I drank a so-so amount of liquids. I took the dog for a couple of walks. Time to do better.
Where is everyone? Thanks, @cbabie, for being here with me lol.
Water yesterday: 50 oz

Morning all, I am trying today to do the things I know I should. Walk even if it's 15 min..track and drink lots of water. I have to keep my body moving. I got new glasses and I can see better, but I feel it makes my wrinkles stand out more..LOL. Have to work on that. I might even be able to cross stitch again.
@trooworld Glad this time I am able to be here with you and not leave you by yourself...You see that's one thing( there is more) but you should be proud that you are consistent with checking in. We all have our strong points and you are consistent!!!! Sorry about the gain, but this too will be a thing of the past soon.
Cbabie0 -
@cbabie That's great, every little bit helps. That would be awesome if you could do cross stitch again, that would be a nice stress reliever. Yes, I'm glad you are able to be here, too. Thank you for pointing that out, I needed a "win" lol.
Hi all. Not much to report here. I'm still struggling with water. I'm meeting a friend for sushi at 10:30 a.m. today. We have to get there so early because it gets really crowded and we don't want to wait so we are having sushi for brunch lol. My husband and I are going to go to the drive-in movies tonight, that should be fun. We haven't been there in a long time.

Hello all. I guess I beat everyone in today lol. I had a nice day yesterday, the revolving sushi place was a lot of fun and it was good to see my friend. DH and I had fun at the drive-in movies, we brought snacks and our pup and enjoyed ourselves. I am meeting a friend for coffee this morning.

Hello! I haven’t caught up but wanted to just say hi first before I get distracted. Weight is going up but I finally feel a little lighter emotionally so hopefully I can translate that into food choices.
Hope you are all well!! 👋
@cbabie and @trooworld thanks so much for you two keeping this board rolling along! Sorry to hear you are both struggling with things, let’s hope that we can all make a positive step or two this week. Today, mine was that I came home and made salad instead of eating ice cream ……but then had some gummy lollies after dinner 🤦♀️.0 -
@Tamevv I'm glad you are feeling better emotionally. I am hoping to head off in a positive direction this week. Way to go, having the salad! Maybe it balanced out the gummy lollies later.
Hi all. I did not make my health a priority yesterday: I worked on artwork which took precidence over anything else. We ended up ordering pizza for dinner because I did not want to stop what I was doing and my husband sure as heck didn't want to cook. Hopefully it's back to business today.
Water yesterday: 20 oz

This past week I've been fighting the virus my family had the past couple of weeks. Today I just can't seem to stay vertical. Then we had some out of town guests pop over last night. I haven't seen them in about 15 years. They were in the area and wanted to see us. That's about all my news. I had a hard time tracking yesterday but really didn't eat much. So you think it wouldn't be hard to track, right? Hopefully I'll be back to my jovial self soon.0
-
@theslightedgeforever Oh dear, I am sorry to hear you've been sick. I was hoping you were traveling with your daughter again! I hope you feel better soon.
Hi all. I did better with my water yesterday. Still didn't track. I am not going to say I will track today because that seems to jinx anything I do when I say I'm going to do something.

Morning all, I thought I posted yesterday.. Must have written it and didn't hit post. LOL. Wow, I got interrupted and not it's afternoon.LOL.
I am trying to figure out why I feel so yucky...hoping to come out of this soon.
@trooworld LOL I haven't heard the word jinx in a long time. I hope you are having a good day and meet your goals.
@theslightedgeforever Hope you feel better
@tamevv good to hear from you. I think we all got into a funk and are fighting our way BACK.
Cbabie0 -
@cbabie LOL time flies! I'm sorry you feel yucky. I hope you feel better soon. Jinx, yeah that's a good word, well at least an interesting word. Thank you, so far I'm not doing much for my health.
Hi all. I didn't track yesterday, I will try again today. Water was okay, better than it has been lately. I think I need to add some flavoring to my water to make it more appealing. I've also been very busy at work lately (unusually so), and not taking the time to drink my water. Or track. I'll try today.

@trooworld. Another crap one for me too 😔. Don’t even think I’m expecting anything better tomorrow - failing is the new norm. What’s it gonna take for me to shake this?
Am off to bed 😴0 -
Morning all, it sounds like re need a refresh in our minds and bodies. Are you all with me? I have to get this right, I have to keep trying, I have to live longer than my parents...how do you break the cycle? One bite at a time. What can you do today than it was yesterday? I can't make it too challenging or I won't do it with all that I keep on my plate. So what do i want most? More protein and veggies and less carbs. So I will TRACK today and make tomorrow 1 carb or more lower. What about you. I will post in here to keep me accountable. I want someone to say are you working or just wishing... I think it's a goal I can do...now if you guys have more insight to help me let me know.
