@fabgeekmom Thanks! Dinner at your daughter's sounds yummy. Sometimes it's nice to sleep in. I hope you enjoyed swimming.

@theslightedgeforever You are welcome. The winery was relaxing and fun. Wine slushies are a new thing out here. The one I got was a blend of whites and reds. It was delicious! No, walking pad is not set up: I am now on my husband's island time as he needs to take the old one to the trash and he will put that off another 2 months, I'm sure as he does with everything. :( I can't take it myself. I would have liked your mini taco salads! Yeah they did puff up huh lol.

@cbabie Good to see you. You would be miserable where I am from (Ohio). Yeah, I think most of us are waiting for the holidays to be over lol. My wine afternoon WAS peaceful, that's exactly the word I would use to describe it.

Hi all. I have a work party today, we are closing at 1 pm so we can get to the party at our director's house. It should be a fun day.

    Water yesterday: 40 oz

@trooworld The work party sounds like fun. It’s good to get off early. @cbabie I hate the cold, too. It’s 36 now. I’m in Virginia so it’s not as cold as it is in the North and Midwest. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good, especially since all I had to do was reheat the dinner my cousin gave us. I sliced some zucchini thinly and put it on a rack under the broiler for a few minutes. I seasoned it with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Tonight I am making the chicken with sun dried tomatoes and gnocchi from Simple. Tonight is family dinner. I’m making bread, too. I’m going to the recreation center after breakfast. I need a calorie deficit for tonight! My daughter is bringing cookies that she made from the New York Times app.

@fabgeekmom Your cousin's dinner sounds good. It's always nice not to have to cook.

@cbabie If you didn't live in AZ your body would adapt. You didn't always live in AZ. lol Waiting for the holidays to be over. Don't you realize they are never over? There is a holiday almost every month. Enjoy the days as they come. Get your body moving. Even if it's 5 mins at a time. Put on a Leslie Sansone video on your Ipad and walk for 5 min

@gemwolf110 The taco salads were good. How are your furbabies?

I took the waiting time today for my fajitas to finish in the oven and walked on the treadmill. Only 20 min but more than I did yesterday.

Pups are doing great. Huskies and thrilled it’s getting colder only wished that Mondays storm was snow. My bichon could care less she likes curling up either on the couch or bed, she is 13.5 years old now.

@fabgeekmom It was nice and yes, good to get off early! I love zucchini. That Simple recipe sounds amazing. Smart to get in a calorie deficit for dinner! Yum, cookies.

@theslightedgeforever That's great that you took advantage of the time to walk on the treadmill.

@gemwolf110 How is school going? Are you on break now? I'm glad to hear your pups are doing great.

Hi all. The party was nice, there were some former coworkers there who either retired or got laid off so it was nice to see them. Food was mostly healthy except for dessert. I didn't eat dinner because of eating at about 2:30-3 pm. I'm making Swedish meatballs tonight for dinner. A big rain storm is coming our way this week and I'm glad I work from home today. Unfortunately tomorrow, I will have to drive in. I may see if I can work from home tomorrow so I don't have to drive in the rain.

@gemwolf110 Are you still doing well with your weight loss?

@trooworld I'm trying to teach myself the habit of move my body when an opportunity presents itself instead of just sitting and looking at my phone. That's good you had lots of healthy choices at your party. It's always nice to see former colleagues. Unless they were jerks. :D

I walked today for 45 min. Still maintaining my weight. Which is good and is bad.

@trooworld I’m glad that you enjoyed the party. It’s good that you can work from home and not drive in the rain. @theslightedgeforever It’s good that you are taking time to exercise. @cbabie You posted a few days ago and it sounds like you are busy with family. I hope things are going well with you. @gemwolf110 I hope you are doing well. Hi, all. I went swimming this morning. Last night’s dinner was good. I have enough leftover for a meal for my DH, son and me later in the week. Tonight I am preparing the meal I was going to make on Monday: burgers, French fries and string beans. My daughter brought some cookies that she made, Mexican hot chocolate cookies. I only ate one. That was not hard to do as they were a bit spicy.

School is going good. 3 weeks in to my third course have no idea how it’s already week 3. We get next week off. Then 7 more weeks and I get 12 weeks off (going every other term). Pups are doing great! Tried to switch them off of a prescription diets but one of the 3 didn’t do well. So she’s sticking on the prescription diet until I find a diet that works best for her.

We had our rainstorm earlier in the week. So much rain felt like a mini version of the flood of 2010. Smart to not drive in the rain.

So we had to be talking about French Toast at the Christmas party at work. Mind you the party was the boss ordering Panera and we all ate at our cubicles it was a nice thought and all. So the conversation about French toast and then realizing in need to use up some eggs and loaf of bread before they go bad had me make the French Toast Casserole pictured below. Smells delicious and I’m sure tastes yummy as well.

@theslightedgeforever That's a good idea. Yeah, the party food was okay not spectacular so I didn't have much of it. These former colleagues were okay in my book lol. Great job with the walking! At least you didn't gain.

@fabgeekmom Yeah I'll need to drive in today despite the rain as I have to give someone a present. Plus, I don't want to ask. I like Mexican hot chocolate flavors so I'd love those cookies. It sounds like everyone in your family is a good cook! :D

@gemwolf110 Wow, time is flying, isn't it? Good luck switching foods. That can be tricky. Your casserole looks good.

Hi all. Well, I do have to drive in the rain today as I didn't want to ask if I could work from home + I have to give someone a Christmas gift. But I do work from home as regularly scheduled tomorrow.

@gemwolf110 I’m glad school is going well. It’ll be nice to have a week off. The casserole looks yummy. @trooworld Too bad about driving in the rain. But it’ll be nice to work at home tomorrow. Hi, all. I’m finishing my coffee now. My husband cooked bacon and it was good. I buy the center cut so calories aren’t too bad. I’m going to the recreation center and then going grocery shopping. I need a few more things to last the week. I’m out of my low calorie bread and I need some fruit and Greek yogurt. I have started eating that after lunch as a dessert. The difference between now and WW is I am measuring the amounts. I weighed this morning and I am up 1 pound but within the 2 pound range I seem to get to.

@fabgeekmom It actually ended up not raining, so all was well. It should rain today though. I like the center-cut bacon, too. You are doing great.

Hi all. Well, no rain yesterday but it is coming today. My husband still hasn't disposed of the old walking pad so I can set up my new one. I told you, he's on island time lol. I'm kind of on diet vacation mode until the 1st of the year anyway. This is not to say I'm totally off the wagon every day but I'm not tracking and I'm gaining weight. I gained 2.6 lbs this week.

@fabgeekmom I've had Mexican hot chocolate before. I like it. Never tried the cookies. I'll have to look it up. You had said...The difference between now and WW is I am measuring the amounts....and I had to stop and think about that for a moment. I guess you were referring to zero point foods? I think tracking/measuring is so ingrained in me that I still measure things I don't know. Cups not grams. Although I read the other day that if I measure in grams I could knock off a point here and there. I think cups is just easier. Probably cause I've been doing that forever. That is not my problem.

@gemwolf110 Time seems to go by fast these days I think. Up and down. I hear you. My goal is just to go up and down in a lower range then eventually in my goal range. Could you send the recipe for the french toast casserole? I'm a part of a breakfast club and I'll be hosting the next time around.

@trooworld I hate driving in rain. I hate being a passenger in the rain cause then I'm not in control. A bus or train would be okay. lol You do not want to keep digging yourself a deeper hole to climb out of on Jan 1. Go back and look at your posts around this time last year. What was your thinking like at the time? How have you done in 2023?

I was at bookclub yesterday. Thus my absence. It had been postponed a couple of weeks. Now we only have two weeks to read the next book. We read Sold on a Monday. It was good. About back in the Depression years people were forced to sell their children because they couldn't provide for them. I ate half my pasta and brought the rest home for hubby.

I'm a big F1 fan and I was watching a documentary about the new F1 Las Vegas track. In it they were talking about how sometimes the difference between first and second places are a matter of seconds. So when they are tweaking the cars either between each race or each lap, the question is how can we make this car go one second faster? They don't try and overhaul the whole system. So it got me to thinking about my diet/exercise journey. What one small part can I tweak for today's race? Eventually I will get faster and cross the finish line.

@trooworld Too bad about the weight gain. You know what you need to do. You did weigh so that is good. @theslightedgeforever Yes, I was talking about the 0 point foods. I think I was eating too many. I like MFP as it forces me to measure everything. Though I admit I do indulge in BLT’s( bites, licks and tastes). Maybe that will be my goal as something to work on. That was an interesting idea about small changes and tweaks. Hi, all. I didn’t feel like feel like going out so I did 2 Peloton workouts on my bike. Both were holiday ones so it was fun. My hairdresser is coming to the house.this afternoon. Tonight I am air frying some shrimp. I will also have rice and butternut squash which I will also air fry.

Afternoon all, I am here. It's been a crazy week and still will be next week. The good part is I don't HAVE to get up early to get baby girl to school. LOL she is on vacation for 2 weeks. YEA!!! So I will take this time to get organized for the beginning of the year. Each day I try to make a tweak on something.

I don't want to ever go stagnant. We can always learn something.

@trooworld Sorry about the gain, but like I said up top...it's going to be a new year and we get a refresh.

@theslightedgeforever good for you for making movements!!

@fabgeekmom YOu are great at rolling with the punches. No thanks, I don't plan on me living in the cold areas of the states...I lived in IL for years..You just adapt, but I don't adapt so well now. LOL. I love that you almost always make some kind of bread for dinner. My family would have thought they died and ended up in Heaven. :)

@cbabie I always liked school vacations! I was a teacher and appreciated being able to sleep late. Get lots of rest and do things for you. I have enjoyed the bread, too and am able to eat a moderate amount. I have to be able to roll with the punches. Now my son is making oatmeal raisin cookies, using an America Test Kitchen recipe. Yes, I’ll eat one cookie and track the calories. Your last comment made me smile.

Here’s the recipe. I modified it slightly. Used full loaf of Italian Bread, 13 eggs and multiplied the sugars, vanilla and cinnamon by 1.5x kept the salt the same I added in some warming mulling spice that I got from Tastfulky Simple.

@theslightedgeforever I do, too. Especially around here, people go so fast, far too fast. And I agree about being a passenger. Actually, I do want to keep digging myself deeper. More on that below. Two weeks to read the book? Oh dear. That's tough. Wow, that sounds like a tough book to read.

@fabgeekmom It's all good. I'm not worried. I have a plan. Yay for your workouts! Enjoy your dinner and hair appt.

@cbabie Good idea to take advantage of this time.

Hi all. I am trying to qualify for weight loss surgery. Yes, I know it's drastic. Yes, I know it requires a permanent change. I've been thinking about it for several years. I've been trying to lose weight for 30 years now, I'm sick of this hamster wheel of weight loss. Yes, I am defending my choice...out of the few people I've told about this, half of them have tried to talk me out of it due to their own ignorance about the process/outcomes. I'm not asking for that, I am asking for support please. I have a friend that just had surgery in Mexico and she's doing great. I'm not having my surgery in Mexico, mine will be covered by my insurance IF I have a BMI of 40 or above or a comorbidity that I may or may not have. I'm very close or at 40 for a BMI. I have a consultation with a surgeon on Jan 2nd. I'm not going into this blindly, I have done a lot of research about it.

@fabgeekmom squash and rice sounds good. Bravo on your Peleton sessions.

@cbabie We get a new refresh every day. Can't wait for the new year. Because we all know that excitement/motivation lasts for about 4-6 weeks and then it's back to old habits and routines. We just have to figure out how to do the habits we are trying to build TODAY. Mine today is stretching. I really haven't stretched since I got back home. So I'm trying habit stacking to deal with this. Plus using the Way of Life app to track my habits.

@gemwolf110 Thank you for the recipe.

@trooworld I'm glad you have done your research. At the end of the day you have to live with the outcome. My sister in law and two friends have done it. All three have had complications. We are here to support you along your journey. I usually read the books in one week. Because I'll forget the details because I'm also reading two other books at the same time. One for pleasure and then one for my bookclub I'm in with my son.

I did aerobics for 20 min today. Then started having sharp pains along the left side of my back. So I stopped. Off to do some stretching.

@gemwolf110 Thank you so much! Will do.

@theslightedgeforever Yes indeed. I will ask the surgeon how often people have complications, thanks for that info. And thanks for your support. That's great you can read a book in a week. I've been reading "Young Mungo" since May 15 2023. It's a great book but I hardly have time to read any books, I mostly listen to books. That's really cool that you are in a book club with your son. Yay for your effort with the aerobics, I'm sorry about the sharp pains. Did they stop with the stretching?

Hi all! Merry Christmas to you. We are going over to my BIL's apartment later and my SIL and MIL will be there as well. I have to make a charcuterie board...went to Trader Joe's yesterday to get the stuff for it. It was NUTS there. Even the parking lot was annoying. I'll never go to TJ's on a holiday weekend again. My husband is making his lasagna: homemade pasta, and sauce from roasted Roma tomatoes. It should be nice. Have a great Christmas Eve! It feels like it should be Christmas today.

Hello everyone! Past WW member who did very well with becoming healthy and losing weight. But past 3 years can't seen to get back focused amd I've went back 100% to my old habits and extreme weight gain. Hoping with a support group can get back with it!

@lindamartin27 Welcome to our group! I joined MFP last March after my doctor recommended it. I was a lifetime member and was following the plan but still gaining. I think it was all those 0 point foods! I have lost about 10 pounds and now am in a healthy BMI. @theslightestedgeforever Sorry about having pains while exercising. It was smart to stop. I love reading, too. @trooworld I was at TJ’s a week ago and it was crazy then! The lasagna sounds yummy. Hi, all. I had fun decorating cookies yesterday. My goulash was good. My husband and granddaughter had seconds and they don’t normally do that. The biscuits were good and I surprised myself by only eating half. I was full from the goulash. Tonight we go to my daughter’s house. Merry Christmas, everyone!

I usually love walking but haven't been going out lately. Need to get motivated. I am hoping this group will give me the accountability I need! Good luck everyone. Have a lovely Christmas

@Neds1980 Hi and welcome! I look forward to learning more about your journey.

Hi all. Merry Christmas! We celebrated yesterday with family. It was really nice. The lasagna was really good as was my charcuterie board that I made. I am attaching a picture of that. Today, I'm not doing much: just crafting and relaxing. Enjoy your day!
