The rest of my salad from last night.
Should I count the 5-6 inch black hair I found in it?

    Did...did you...did you eat it???

    Public Service Announcement:

Fruits (bananas, apples, pears, peaches...) are not vegetables.

Tomatoes, cucumber and avocado also aren't vegetables. If we're going to be pedantic about it.

I saw it just before I put my fork in it. I have cataracts, so I am lucky I even saw it! No, I didn't eat it, fortunately. EEEWWWWW! I am starting to think a lot more about not eating out.

Correct. Technically, these are classified as fruits (although cucumber, zucchini, squash, etc. do tend to have more in common with vegetables in terms of nutrition and culinary purposes than they do with other fruits).

But I wouldn't say it's being pedantic to point out that answering "a banana" to the question "which fresh, raw vegetable have you eaten today?" is missing the point.

On the contrary, I'm defending the integrity of fruits.
Calling a banana a vegetable is an insult to bananas everywhere.

Romaine lettuce salad with raw broccoli slaw, radish, red onion, raw snap pea pod, cucumber, and raw cauliflower, with a delicious raspberry vinaigrette.
My morning snack was raw carrots, celery and bell pepper.

Indeed, if my cooked veg don't count, no one's raw fruit counts, including my own (lots of fruit today, all raw). ;-)

Today's raw veg: fennel, spinach, tomatoes (culinary veg, even if actual fruit), cucumbers. Haven't decided what I'm having for dinner yet.

If they were raw, they count. (Cooked lettuce on a sandwich, blech, so I'm assuming they were.) ;-)

Not that I understand this thread or anything, I just popped in to add to the pedantry.

    I approve this message. ;-)

So, not raw, but vegetable. I just had fire roasted yams with brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. They were awesome!

A can of sweat peas. I had to get some vegetables, and I needed something ready-to-eat from the cupboard. But for the sake of a one-topic thread, I'm highlighting raw vegetables only. And I will grant several writers that various vegetables have to be cooked; otherwise, they are inedible. There are, however, a basket full of vegetable-types that can be eaten raw and fresh. And some even are tasty and enjoyable.

A can of collards for today. Anybody else really enjoy your vegetables?
