Bbws....fetish or preference?

Nope...I think body size is a preference....sexual desire that focuses on one specific body part would be more of a fetish...2

I thought I knew the difference between a fetish and a preference until I started reading these comments.... Let me pull away and respond in a bit.....lol0

Agreed here. Anything that appears to fall outside of the most common conventional (or is seen as exotic), or is specific can end up having a fetish following. Even if it's actually common. But, that doesn't necessarily make it a fetish by the standard definition. Someone with a preference can seek what they like through regular ways or through fetish avenues. If it is a fetish, that doesn't make it bad either. It's just how they approach the fetish that matters. It's common now to use the concept of fetish with a less strict meaning. I think that's fine. I don't know what it's like to be BBW. But, I have been fetishized. Depends on how they go about it. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Basically it's nice to be desired strongly and share a mutual enjoyment of something. But, as a whole person. Not just for one thing. Lots of people are referred to as having a fetish because they like something that's considered unconventional or specific, but they still like the person as a whole person and not just for one body part or characteristic. Edit to add: there are things I wouldn't want to be fetishized for. Like that milf thing. I don't want someone interested in me just because I am a mother.2 -

A fetish does not, in any way- have to directly relate to specific body parts.
You can have a:
• latex fetish
• furry fetish
• inflatable shark fetish
• foot fetish
• BBW fetish
• granny fetish
• butt fetish
See, those aren't all body parts...
This is not a complicated concept, TBH. I don't want to get in trouble here, so I'm keeping this as educational as possible... But, I think some of y'all need to get out more.2 -
I would say if you're attracted to BBWs..it's a preference..if you want toget your freak on with BBWs..it's a fetish..0
-
I'd say it would be more classified as a fetish if that were the focus of why the person liked you. If everything was focused on your weight and how big this was and how big that was and not necessarily a focus on you as a person. That's a fetish. It's almost an obsession.7

I'm back...to be honest, I think most people consider it a fetish because, America or society, has taught us that big is not beautiful. And the most of us are in these tiny little boxes that we have kept ourselves in or have unconciously became a victim to what "should" be deemed as beautiful or by society's definition of beautiful. And if we dare venture out of that little box that they try to keep us in, then something has to be different about us - and we have to be classified and labeled because it goes against what they told us was beautiful. So they give it a label like a 'fetish'...when it could be that it is just pure love between the two people regardless to their outside attributes. So in other words, when it falls out of the realm of 'normal' then it gets categorized as fetish. However, I think there are a few people with a fetish with big women, but I think typically it is a preference, or just damn LOVE!4

I'm out before this becomes a body shaming post. I can feel it coming.
You're beautiful, OP. Don't worry about classifications- they're a big mess.2 -
I think this is a great topic, actually.0

I agree- and I like your comment... I've just learned when certain trigger words are said, people start coming out of the wood work to nitpick.
Wasn't directing my comment to you.0 -

You know how women come in all different shapes and sizes - and even their minds are different? The same is true of men. Ask two of us why we like what we like and you'll get (at least) two different answers.3

I think fetish can be misused by a lot of people (usually those that it wouldn't apply to). I'd say there are far more people with a preference for BBW (side note: is BBM a thing?) or even no real body size preference at all that have a history of dating BBWs, than there are people who have a BBW fetish.
I think the line is generally HOW they interact with said women (and men), like there is being attracted to someones body, and there is obsessing over someones body. For example, by friend married a man that derived a great deal of pleasure from playing with her belly and watching her eat, he couldn't "perform" if she was wearing shaping lingerie, he was a fetishist. Since her divorce she has had relationships with men that were attracted to her for many reasons, her weight not being a make-or-break deal in either direction. These other guys may have had a preference for her body type, or they may have found her attractive more a multitude of other reasons (she is adorable after all), but they werent fetishizing(?) any one of her attributes.1 -
I think fetish refers more to the feeder type who like their women super morbidly obese and become active in their weight gain to the point they become very unhealthy and will actually leave it the woman attempts to lose weight.5

I don't think most people consider it a fetish at all...most people would consider it a preference. There is a pretty clear line IMO as to what is a fetish and what is preference. I knew a guy in the military who totally had a big girl fetish...he didn't want to date them or hang out with them or anything like that...he just like picking them up at the bar and was aroused by the prospect of having anal sex with a big girl.
A buddy of mine on the other hand just prefers larger women and has been happily married to one for 8 years...IMO, big difference.1 -

I agree with you and this is logical thinking...lol...but I stick by my original comment...I think it's not 'typical' to want to date or marry a big or obese girl...so people label it as a fetish vs a preference, because society or the media has put out a picture of women that are considered "normal, or sexy, or desirable. In some other country's the opposite is true for them culturally. Bigger is better and smaller isn't....2 -
I think it can be both and OP you have a very pretty face btw. 100 is nothing you got this. Good luck.1

Hopefully there would be no body shamers here..I mean look where we are! On another note, this topic isn't something I've actually dealt with personally. Although a few of my friends have and I've always thought it was the strangest thing because every one of them them is absolutely gorgeous. And thank you!2 -

Just to be clear everyone, this post isn't about a lack of confidence in my ability to find someone who can love me despite my figure! I love myself regardless of my shape and have self confidence, I'm just here to get my health in check I just thought this might be an interesting topic is all!6

There is the dictionary definition of fetish. And there is the common usage. It's now used colloquially in a looser way. And that's where misunderstanding and judgement of sexual preferences comes in because people hear the word fetish and apply the dictionary meaning.
Additionally fetish can mean different things to different people. It's called a fetish when people view feet as a sexual body part. But, that doesn't mean a person has an obsession with feet and only feet. It often means they are sexually turned on by many aspects of a woman: neck, breasts, waist, stomach, booty, legs, cute/well cared for feet. Feet are not generally regarded as a sexual body part. But, they have been viewed as sexual by a significant portion of the population for a very long time. They used to do foot binding. The part of the brain that recognizes sexual organs is right next to the part of the brain that recognizes feet. Many or even all body parts can be erogenous or erotic.
So, in common usage fetish usually just means having unconventional sexual interests such as bdsm, certain types of body adornment, role playing, or consensual exhibitionism or voyeurism. Even though those things are not really unconventional. But, they are specific enough to warrant a community for events, meeting others, in order to do those things consensually.
But, some people do have an obsessive level of fetish in which they are more interested in the fetish than the person. And that's the distinction the OP is trying to make.
Some people might say they have a fetish because they like something. But, it isn't a requirement (which is the actual definition of fetish).
So, most of the time, as it is in sex, people just have fun and don't worry too much about how the dictionary defines it.1 -
google "feeders" and it will specify the whole thing for you. Just the being fat thing is not all there is to it.
feeders and gainers. blarglarglargh X(0 -
Someone already mentioned it I see, the whole "feed 'em til they asplode" "make em gain til they can't move" "ditch them if they lose weight" horrible unhealthy things people on the far end of this fetish will do to women.
Personally, I'm more into the whole foot thing. Male or female. If they're nice feet then they're nice feet. If there are any foot fetishists beside just me this should bring them out of the woodwork.
