It was yelled out the bars of the cafeteria window. I'll take yells out of a moving vehicle any day. Unless they want me to get into that vehicle.

The prison yard? No, that's the opposite of what my milkshake does.

So it was super weird, when I was younger I used to get called all the time, and I'm not old now by any means but I'm more confident. The cat calling happens less often and idk if it's because I project that I will not be messed with or if it's because people are just being less skeevy. I live in BC, Canada and I've never heard of such persistence like there is in the states!!

I live in suburbia, in the Midwest and although I've heard of this happening elsewhere, I've never seen it happen or had any of the women in my life say that it happened to them. It...just...seems...creepy!

I don't know, but my daughter is 12 and starting to get hollered at by grown men driving by - it completely freaks her out and it's part of what is wrong in our world.

my sister is 12 too, and ive had to deal it for a few years too. a total turn off and gross for grown men to do it to a 12yo!! :'(

I read the first page and then skipped to the last, I'm impressed that this thread is now about cats on phones.

I did the exact same thing. I wonder what the cats are talking to each other about. Probably plotting on how to kill their humans.

It's Friday, has your orange cat tried to kill you yet?

I read some research on catcalling. It was fascinating to see parallels drawn to animal vocalizations that let other males in the area know that the vocalizing male was powerful, virile, and that females in those public spaces belong to him.

Thank you to all the evolved men who responded here and obviously understand that screaming "nice *kitten*" from across the street to a random female will never get the same response as holding your lover close and whispering "nice *kitten*" while your moan of longing vibrates through your chest and into her whole body.

It is a grooming behavior and a way for a guy to be seen.

eddie izzard said my favourite thing about it. 'and they always hang out in groups of five . . . because they have a fifth of a personality each'.
