My best friend shaved her head today so I wouldn't be alone. I really never expected anyone to do that. She really caught me off guard. I'm kinda speechless actually.

Awww ... So sweet! I understand how you feel to receive that kind of unexpected support.

My friends did that for me when I got punished ( I was accused of having slept with a friend who was really just showing me his new car) by my mum and aunts, whereupon my midback length hair was chopped where it was a buzz cut mess in places. It was the first time I got braided extensions from my Tanzanian Jr in school. All my friends, classmates and year group in multiple schools braided their hair in support of me. I cried, it was touching.

This is so foreign to me but very moving. ❤️

That’s awesome - it’s crazy how a gesture of solidarity can make us feel better

We let our hair down as part of our cultural dress, believed to be "where ancestors ride or reside" ... To cut it or remove it completely would be akin to tearing up "your wedding gown, prom dress ... A prized item of clothing," only that it isn't, but is.

    Thank you. 💛

Organic plant protein powder does not desolve in cold liquid.

I do NOT recommend chewing your protein drinks.

My daughter's school doesn't do homecoming mums. So, I spent a while trying to explain what they are. I had to get out the high school photos and show her. Now, I am reminiscing the good ole days.

Why do some people treat everything as a joke? Is it just some deep rooted insecurity on their part?

It’s a coping mechanism- be it insecurity- their own depression or anxiety- I take nothing seriously myself and try to make light of most things - 🤷‍♂️
  • The moments I am really high energy no on is around or is high energy and it sucks. Maybe it’s just my area but folks don’t seem to want to make things happen and I get how scary it is to try because of perception issues aka rejection. I want to be brilliant and want others around me who want to be too.

For example, a group of people having a serious or even delicate conversation about something and this person will put themselves center stage with some snarky and inappropriate comment.

Does that fall under making light of something?

I was asked at work if I would be interested in filling in for a manager for the next 6 months. I'm on the bottom of a short list, we'll see what happens.

I tried to get help today with some repairs at home and the guy was really snarky and kinda rude on the phone. What he said has stuck in my brain all day. It made me a bit upset. I'm seriously thinking about canceling my appointment with him. Should I?

There's a million different reasons that this could be happening and honestly I am too tired to list them off. I don't know who you are referring to, but Chit Chat is full of sarcasm and silliness. It is what most people come here for. Very few expect serious conversations in this area. Half of the "serious" stuff that goes on here is BS and attention seeking stuff anyway.
