I got news a few days ago that someone I am close to has cancer. They go in for surgery soon as doctors think it can be removed that way with minimal other intervention, but still.. it's a big surgery, an organ is being removed and I dunno.. it kind of has me freaked out.

This person is one of my favorite people (and I don't have many of those). I just hope everything goes well and they recover quickly. I may spam them with a bunch of dumb cards and flowers while they recover. Or craft kits. They'd probably like that.

Hope their recovery is quick, easy, and 100% positive!! Try to stay hopeful....

I will. :) Just seems no one in my family is immune to the curse of cancer. The only people in my immediate family besides myself who hasn't gotten some form (and that includes my husband), is my mother... and my son.

So.. every grandparent (and grandparent-in-law), every other in-law, most of my husband's brothers/sisters, all of my stepparents and my father. Just.. yeesh.

My dad.. It broke my heart today to see him shed a tear for his closest friend who was moved away to a nursing home.
Benny has been my dad's bestie and frequently attended the horse races with dad, he lived 2 doors down for over 50 years.
Although Benny is 85 he was still super fit and mowed his own lawn ( acreage) with a ride on mower.
A little forgetful perhaps but still ok. Apparently his daughter decided it was time to move him to a home and told him it was a temporary stay while they cleaned house. She sold the house and today told him he is not going home to which he cried ( told to me by her brother)
I'm gutted for my dad and Benny. The nursing home is too far away for dad to be able to visit. They most likely will never see each other again 😔

Update.. my dad's best mate Benny passed away this morning, dad never got to see him again.😔 He just went downhill from the day they shoved him in there. RIP Benny.

    So sorry, Jo.

Whats up with the women coworkers who always act all sheepish when they have a question or really anything to say. Stand up and quit acting like you are an annoying inconvenience and I will find you way less of an annoying inconvenience.

Wouldn't it make more sense to take my car to the repair shop to have the passenger side mirror reattached after it was knocked off rather than using a drywall screw?

ETA: I am not the one who knocked the mirror off nor did I fix it with a drywall screw.

Either they find you intimidating or its a byproduct of learned behavior.

I had to learn to break out of those habits because they were learned traits. I was taught that women were supposed to be demure, quiet and always polite. That translated into never speaking out against my parents, teachers or other adults because it was seen as "unladylike" and "disrespectful".

Now, as an adult, I think that's a load of bull, but I didn't know any better at the time and it took some other folks to kinda... break the habits, as it were.

One can be polite and still have and hold opinions of their own.

So... I put together this recipe from a cookbook I had called "The Accidental Vegetarian". The recipe sounds like a lovely, fancy little savory tart (even calls itself that), except when I looked at the ingredients and then cooked it up... I realized that it was more or less a miniature tart pizza.

Book's over here trying to make pizza fancy, y'all.

Learning a new language is hard. All the letters and pairs sound the same because of how we pronounce vowels in English.

The banks have ruined so many small business’ by not loaning $.
    BUT....
The land developers and builders are getting all the loan money they need to keep building whole neighborhoods.
I have no idea who will buy them,
lots of jobs gone here (Oil Industry).

I think my 13 year old cat is dying. She's acting very reserved and normally, she is a friendly cat, full of mewps and usually wanting attention. She sits in the same spot on our bed, doesn't move to go eat or drink and I haven't seen her go to the bathroom in at least 24 hours.

I dunno... maybe she's just ill (being older and all), but I have a sinking feeling it's more than that.

Construction is booming, but like you said, if it keeps going the way it is, they'll be noone to buy them and the developers and property owners will have assets they can't move.

Suppose it's the way it's always been, at least with the property owners/wealthy getting what they want.....but it is infuriating to see folks who really need it not get it. There have been a lot of businesses in the KC area where I work get hit pretty hard and if things don't change soon (with that kind of help or uptick in business), it will get really bad. Royally sucks where I work because those folks are all shop local, support local shops, restaurants, etc. 😔

Awww, hope she feels better!! Maybe a UTI? Can you bring her to see the vet? Poor thing. :( I hate when our dear pets act or get sick and we have no clue what's wrong. :( You feel so helpless.

I took her to the vet today. She was bleeding from the mouth and we had a very rough night last night. She's so weak she can barely make it to the litter box and collapsed five feet away from it once she was done this morning.

Due to COVID, though.. I could not stay with her. So she's at the vet.. and I'm here worried sick about what they're going to tell me. I got no sleep and now I'm a nervous (useless) wreck.

The prognosis is kidney failure. She's so sick that they have to keep her there and pump her full of fluids in the hope that they might get an IV into her. I'm facing the very real possibility that I may never see her alive again. She might not survive. How did she get this bad without me noticing?? She was happy just two days ago, acting completely normal.

I was informed her blood work was way off the charts in a terrible way. I've been crying on and off since last night when I realized something was terribly wrong... and the news just.. well it isn't good. She's not gone yet, but the vet didn't sound super optimistic.

    I'm just.. lost.

So very sorry to hear this. 😔
