ChitChat is definitely a rabbit hole, agree! Keep digging myself out and falling back in!
About 'woo'...don't bother using it in chit chat, it hurts some peoples feelings, even if you don't mean it that way. Lot's of people think it's a fun reaction, others take it as some sort of rebuke.
Go ahead and use it in other forums, they all seem to take it as a reaction to debunk myths or bad info.
I liked it at first when they took our 'awesome' away, seemed like a good (positive 'woo-hoo') mix between 'like' (weak positive reaction) and 'hug' (over the top positive reaction (mostly, sometimes 'hug' is appropriate)).2 -
