Whose bulking this year?
I'm enjoying the running chat we have on the "show your best X,Y and Z" lift thread- perhaps a bulking thread for those of us hammering it? I don't want to start new posts all the time- but I enjoy the fat kid club up in this joint.
Feel free to post details- stats, pictures- or air your mental dirty laundry and grievances about bulking!!!

So- I officially started the last weekend in October/First of November.
I'm having a bit of an interesting transition period as I just got married- so meal prep and trying to get our house settled with the hubs in it is hard- I'm finding I'm constantly under eating (horrors)- but it's getting settled down.
I am essentially reversing out of my 1600-1700- calorie goal and the goal has currently been 1900-2000 calories for the last two weeks- I may hang here for another week- trying to go long and steady this bought.
Starting weight is approximately 165- (I need a new digital scale)
End Goal is 190
Measurements pending.
Bulking cycle is planned Nov- April.
Main goal is size this year not strength.
Programing- is a 3 day hypertrophy split- lots of whole body with heavy lean on push/pull and sets of 12-15.
I'm pretty much doing a *kitten* job of making this scientific at all this year- but we shall see- I need a weekend to sit down and figure out where I am- size wise- and take some pictures before I start packing it on.9 -
I am, kinda... but taking it super slow. I'm about 181 lbs at the moment.4

I won't be bulking until May
Are you worried that trying to gain 25lbs in 24 weeks is too fast? As a woman you could hope to gain 1lb of muscle a month assuming everything is optimal according to the "general internet" consensus but there is research to back this up. That means a potential 6lbs of muscle and 18lbs of fat.
A smaller surplus and less onerous weight goal would be better for leaner gains.

Waist is about 30.5"... Not tracking anything else other than waist/hips, and not weighing on a weekly basis.
This time around I'm just spot checking weight every few weeks and focusing on lift progression. Staying on point w/ diet 90-95% of the time...
Current... no leg pics at moment.

I'll be doing more of a hypertrophy routine for a few months. Currently weigh ~163. I'll bulk slowly and cut eventually back to below 165 for PL Meet in June.2 -

why bulking in May? bleck- I could never do that.
6 Months to put on 25 pounds isn't egregious to me at all- I made it up to 182 last year before I cried uncle.
Who cares about lean gains- I'm fighting a stacked deck because I'm a woman- and I'm not getting on the stage- getting back down to 160 is pretty easy- that's my "regular" weight (Getting under 160 is a mental exercise in torture for me)- so meh- whatever- my goals are usually pick up bigger things. So I'm not to terrible worried about getting fat. I'm already too "fat" to bulk. But this is the third cycle for me- so I'm firmly in the fck it camp- I just want to get huge.10 -

I'm hoping with my added size- will come the lifts as well. Because- lifts. But I needed a change of programming- Sheiko for the last 2 years- time for something new.

Started my 2nd bulk a month ago. Upped the calories from maintenance which was in or around 3,100 to 3,350. Initially gained 0.4kg/0.8lbs in the first week but got sick in the 2nd weekend and didn't have much of an appetite for a few days after. Went back down to the weight I was maintaining at and remained. Might have been also to do with the program I was doing which was the Escalating Density Training Program. Today increased the calories to 3,500 and starting 5x5 stronglifts. Will give a month and re-assess. Unlike the first bulk, where I was on 4,000 and I'm seriously hoping I wont have to go back to that figure but I will see, where I reduced the running to one 5k a week, I'm going to keep running one 10k a week and eat back the majority of the calories, unlike the last month when I wasn't really. Should probably take a few pictures.
Waist is 30.
Current weight is 65.7kg/144lbs. First bulk went from 55kg/121lbs to 70kg/154lbs
End goal: No weight in mind. Probably go until I hate myself though I'm going to the west coast of the States in March for 2 weeks so maybe see what I'm like in February and decide whether to continue.4 -

I grew too tired of obsessively tracking weight and measurements, so just easing off a bit. Gotten better on easing up diet wise too... hit macros spot on for years ( and still do most of the time ), but goals change4 -

Started my bulk in Sept. Was going to do a really slow snail speed of a bulk (1lb per month) until about March or April but now I'm just going with it, any gain is a good gain...now I'm aiming for 1-2lbs per month, no pressure, not a lot of logging. I'm nursing, not sleeping well (grrr), lifting 3x per week (full body, glute focused) so just trying to improve my lifts, grow and have fun ! Oh and eat.. lots of eat

Hi I'm entering week 11 of my bulk. I started super lean so have nowhere to go but up. Starting weight 115, Ht 5'6. I do 4 sessions a week, 2 lower, 2 upper, but sometimes they are a little more full body, I do a lot of kettlebell moves. I am eating on average about 2700-2800 calories per day. The first 7 weeks I steadily gained 0.5 lb per week, but then hit a plateau and maintained at 115.5, then this past week i dropped to 114. So I upped my calories by 200 which means I'll have to net around 3000 calories per day. Interestingly even though the scale hasn't budged too much in the past few weeks, my skinny non-stretch jeans no longer fit in the butt and legs and I've had to pack them away. Also my husband randomly noted I have some back and shoulder mass now. so I think i'm making some progress. My situation is I have a 10 month old and am trying for number 2. I want some more mass heading into this pregnancy.6

I've been bulking since the beginning of September and I've gained 10 lbs so far while eating 4,000-4400 calories per day. My goal is to gain 5 more lbs for my first powerlifting meet in January so I can move up to next weight class.3

Finished by cut mid august or so.. I slowly increased the calories for the first 2 weeks and then I done 3 food challenges here and there.. One of them being 14k calories... Yep when it comes to food I know how to eat . Now im on a lean bulk habing 3.4k however ive overate quite a bit lately (5k+) and this has led to some extra fat gain . Oh well I know how to lose it so i guess it's fine to pack on some extra insulation in preparation for the cold winter.2

I am bulking.. I am sort of taking the plunge to bulk till I hate myself... I seriously buckled down and got lean to do this..
I can say this time around, I am not afraid of FAT GAIN!!!!!!7 -

Just started my bulk last week. Already seen improvements in my lifting capacity.
Started at 187 and got my normal 3lb water weight increase (I'm 5'11"). Figure I'll run the bulk until I can't fit comfortably in my 33" jeans (maybe around 200ish or so).
Worst case I could always run a mini-cut for a week or 2 and then get back on the gainz trainz

I can say I will eat waffles and bacon..I just bought a Belgian flip waffle maker (mine died a couple of months ago) and can say it will prove useful the next few months..
I am reversing out of my deficit now since beginning of Nov.. Training program already changed, and will increase surplus through Dec.. My plan is to bulk into April, maybe longer..we will see.

I updated my post since you posted... I love oreos, waffles, despise oatmeal, Chips Ohoy for me is good in cold milk.. So I think I will have a smooth transition from the deficit including jello to my favorites.. what do you think?
I had a maple bacon sunday at the fair a couple of weeks ago.. it was tasty!3 -

I think some folks around me thinks that I have made an egregious goal. maybe the people around me can't handle little ole me fatter.. who knows?..
I just turned 48 years old in September, this is my third round of bulking since 2015 my first two bulks (were nothing like one is gonna be as these were learning curves).. I abandoned the first and stuck the second one out just shy of a 3 month goal, this time I am trying to put on a lot, this is not about strength, I want some more size..
The deck is stacked against me due to my age and being female.. There are those that think that calorie partitioning is gonna be an issue.. but I am of the mindset that I do not care about this at all..
Should I?
I made a mind shift to go balls to the wall on this.. not getting younger.. so why not, its not just some added fat, its both muscle and fat.. in my mind the fat is easy is too lose for me..
Just wondering if anyone had something to add that I need to think about other than eat, lift, sleep, eat , lift, sleep!

YAY For flip waffle maker!!! That sounds awesome. Waffles for me a total treat- strawberries- black berries- and whipcream- OMGRD.
On our honeymoon they had condensced milk- no whip cream- so I drizzled that over the fruit/waffles.#died.
(and thank you- married for almost 2 months now!- and no one is dead!!!)
I think it sounds like a fine plan to transition off a deficit- that's where I am since technically 1650 is "deficit" for me (it's not- it's more like maintenance- but whatever)1 -

So- quite frankly I am not a professional. So- you know- take with some sodium.
But I think you are spot on. Eat- sleep- lift- rest- eat- sleep-lift.
There is no going back and wishing for a different body- or starting sooner.
You are where are you now- so do the best you can with what you have. I see nothing wrong with getting a little fat to get some size.
As noted up thread- I'm also going for size above strength this rotation. (which will hopefully translate a little)- and I expect to get fat.
So *kitten* what.
I'll wear my leggings and my long tops and deal with it till I hate myself- and then come back down. It's not the end of the world- sorry society can't handle a little pudge- thankfully they don't have to live with it. I do- So eff off.
You're on the right track IMHO.
