@BeeerRunner I love Balega! I've only ever used their Hidden Comfort line but I've heard great things about Balega all around. I pretty much exclusively wear Balega for long runs.

7 km along the River Bank Trails. Had too many layers on so I felt heavy and slow.

@skippygirlsmom You seem like just the person I need to ask right now - is there such a thing as a running jacket that actually keeps you dry when it rains? I went out for a run in the rain on Monday and have a stinking cold now, and I don't think that helped. I was soaked right through. My supposed 'showerproof' running jacket would be soaked right through if a kitten sneezed on it...

I just picked up a very light Columbia windbreaker / rain jacket at Dicks Sporting Goods. It's vented in the back, but doesnt have pit zips. I was on a budget and it was only $32 compared with other jackets for running that were $80 - $100+. Anyway, it's worked very well...took it out on a cold rainy day, and it kept me dry. It also has a hood that can be stowed away and I pulled it over a baseball cap so my face stayed dry too. I also used this jacket as a an outer layer in the cold weather, and it definitely kept me warm from the -2 windchill I ran in on Sunday.

I have one too! I love it. I found mine last year at tj maxx. It is great for misty - light rain conditions. @BEERRUNNER I think I got mine for about 12$

On the cheap note- I got a non running rain jacket for 30-50$. It works great. And I can wear it even if I'm not running. (Because I get attached to my running gear and wanna wear it all the time) . I have a small and 99% of the time wear a medium. I'd go with a medium, if I planned on layering much under it. But the small is fine with 2 thin layers. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/magellan-outdoors-womens-packable-rain-jacket

See @BEERRUNNER . Haha! I'm so glad my running gear still fits.. I swear I'm just gonna have to suck it up and run!

Okay, so I don't run much in this jacket; but I do wear the hat to run when it's cold enough.

I wish I could say I wasn't jealous, but I must confess I am a little. lol Wear the jacket proudly @MobyCarp
I hope to be wearing one in the near future.

The weather was mild today, in the low 40s (F), so I decided to go to group speedwork tonight. Of course it started raining and was super windy right before and I was really regretting that decision. Only one other runner and the coach showed up, and the other guy was basically just there for a base run, so I got a lot of personal attention! We did warm-up, 2 sets of 10 minute tempo, with 2 minutes rest between, and then 4 sprints and cool-down. The rain let up a bit during the run so it wasn't too terrible but I was awfully happy to be done and get home to a hot shower. Somewhere in there my Garmin tells me I ran my fastest mile, so that was a surprise!

I love having the week's workout done on Monday, and now I can just relax and do base runs for the rest of the week. And, only 2.5 miles away from my goal of 80 miles for December. So I may get close to or even over 90, given that I should have another long run in there yet.

My run was all about 7 tonight. 7 min walk. 7 min at 5.3mph. 7 min x3 at 6mph. 7 min at 5.3mph. 7 min walk. So 49 min total, 35 running. During the running I was pausing each 7 min to towel off and drink water. :s

With my run this evening I completed my MapMyRun goal. The challenge was for 1000KM for the year and I set a goal to hit at least 2000. With the rest of the week to go I will finish the year with a bit more than 2000 but I am excited to have hit this goal!

@Stoshew71 - Watch your budget. That jacket doesn't come cheap, even after you qualify. Oddly enough, the hat was pretty affordable. And it turns out to be a pretty good winter weather running hat, not that you'll need one in Alabama.

I haven't posted my miles and running for a few days now. Goal is within sight this month - yay!. I had an amazing long run on Christmas Eve morning. It was cool and windy but not raining although the trail was pretty wet. The mountains were amazingly beautiful and the snow level was way down. It was such a great backdrop and I couldn't stop looking at them!

@lissadecker - great gifts and your son's band is awesome!
@greenolivetree - I hope the testing and all is going well for your husband! When do you get to go home?
@BeeerRunner - Go Pack Go!!! I am looking forward to their game with Detroit especially after tonight's loss to Dallas.
On socks - I only wear smartwool. They have a few different ones for running, with different levels of padding. I have not had a blister, none, since I switched to wearing them and that has been at least 3 years now. They are pricey but you can find them on sale and that is when I stock up. They also last a really long time.
@ddmom0811 - I hope that knee is feeling better and was just a little tweak that needed to work itself out!
    @skippygirlsmom - love your stocking!
Hmmm - my favorite gift... probably the new wallet my husband got me but there is the nice running jewelry too - I gave him several charms to pick from and he bought me all of them, lol. I also got a Tiger Tail roller that I have had my eye on for a while - have to say it is amazing. I have used it on my calves, quads and hamstrings and it is wonderful - better I think than a foam roller.

It's nice when things work out - I had 15k scheduled for today including some hills, and an errand to sort out at lunchtime so I ran there and it totalled 15.09km! There were a couple of hills which came to 159m climbing - not as much as I'd normally aim for on a hills day but I'm heading to the gym later so will jump on the stairmaster machine or do some hill repeats on the treadmill.

Run itself was good - it was 3-5C out, still and sunny so lovely running weather. I went with a short sleeved top with a light cycling jacket over the top - mainly so I could make use of the large back pocket to carry stuff! My pace was good ending up slap bang in the middle of my "easy" pace range. A bit more turkey worked off, but probably undo the good work at the pub later.

It was in the 70s again today but very foggy and wet. I actually like this weather and had a good run with Mike and Fergus. Almost had a disaster landing on a sweetgum ball and coming close to rolling my ankle. I managed to stay up without twisting it though. I am not a fan of sweetgum trees.

@BeeerRunner I am a big fan of Thorlo running socks and they are the only ones I wear for running. (https://www.thorlo.com/socks/84nrcw/333/women)
